I think it's funny how they even get close to thinking those webs are an arguing point. In the video, my man makes a great point. He said the webs cost them $0.99 to make which would make the collector's point invalid... funny enough, he's wrong but in the best way possible. He had to have been giving them the benefit of the doubt because the cost of the plastic has to be less than that. Based on my knowledge of buying filament for my printer and the scale of the parts that are probably injection molded, I give AT BEST a price of $0.50 for all of the web accessories included in the box. That's honestly giving them more than I realistically believe because they have to be buying their plastic pellets in bulk, which would lower their material costs even more. Not sure how much injection molding costs because I don't do it, but if he's right and they reuse web castings then their production cost is even less because they already have the castings to make them. I hate the lack of communication from Hasbro! The community is extremely active and Hasbro have the platform to discuss a lot of their decision making with us, the people paying for their product! They for sure see the Daily feedback from collectors and instead of explaining their decision making, they just blatantly ignore criticism and release the next figure. I'm always surprised in the crazy differences in quality from 1 figure to the next and the discrepancies in pricing. If they explained why they have decided to release this with an insane lack of sculpting, same shitty accessories and lack of interchangeable hands and heads all while shoving a suped up price mark on it... I would feel a bit better -_-
I mean one of them did "explain" on some trash livestream that the reason they ALWAYS fuck around with Spider-Mans hands (not including all of them) is because it costs "to much" to paint them all. I see this as 100% lies as this particular figure is 90% repaint with nearly double the price and without a BAF piece. In the end i don't really care about the costs on their end, if they can't make each figure worth the price they place on it i will not buy it and i will make my opinion known as well.

Great Video! I used to be a lead designer at a toy company. These places love to go cheap, cutting corners. CALLING them out is the best thing. Boycotts work too.(much like what was done on the Disney+ Legends) those failed and went on clearance.

It’s especially embarrassing when compared with the GamerVerse Miles Morales from the Armadillo BAF wave. He was top tier and had the textures, paint, everything on-lock. And like you said, the alt. costume figs nailed it too. I didn’t bother with the 2018 GameStop version, and I shan’t bother with the Pulse version either.
RYV Spider-Man is a great mold tbh. I know most people hate re-used molds and I get that, but I can also understand why Hasbro re-uses molds. It wouldn't be so bad if Hasbro put effort into the paint apps on a re-used body.

@@robertcop8825 The neck articulation is crap, they made 0 effort into making that type of joint work. The Chest joint barely has any range, and he should have had a swivel under the ab-crunch. Or better yet, do them like Mafex (Jada toys Street Foghter line is). The drop-down hips are worse than the retooled sunfire mold and the newer comic Spidey mold. The Butterfly has less range than Sunfire and Retro even after you "unstiffen" it. It is NOT a good mold. It is a necessary update to the terrible Retro mold. But they SHOULD have done so much better. Reusing it without all the hands, and almost double the price is just clowning on their customers.
That's my complaint with most Marvel Legends is the painted on details. I've been a huge fan of McFarlane for the exact opposite. I care more about sculpt, texture, and presence over articulation but everyone collects with different priorities.

Hope more people complain about it There was a similar incident with transformers legacy bulkhead and Arcee where they put no effort into resembling how the character look, after all of that complain seems like they learned their lesson and the newer Prime and animated figures looks way better.
Legacy Arcee and Bulkhead are brand new molds for the line, though Arcee is more of a lazy pretool to Road Rocket. The intention of the Legacy line is not to make accurate representation, rather to unify the designs into more G1 aesthetics as continuation of the toyline trilogy before, for better or worse depends on your taste and preference. So these are not really similar instance to reusing a body from 2018 and selling a figure pretending to accurate to the newest game.
At the very least the Hasbro price increases got me a lot more comfortable with buying SH Figuarts due the to price gap getting smaller and smaller every year 😂

To be completely honest, I've completely forgot that the figure existed. When I first saw the figure, I immediately said "not buying it" due to the lack of accessories but I was willing to wait because I saw the 3d render and it looked textured on it, then I made it final that I wasn't buying the figure because of it being a reuse of the RYV mold with a new paint job. Also, just to add, its the reason why I buy less of the comics one because majority of the Gamerverse/MCU line up have better figures. The only recent comic suit I bought was the 1st appearance Spidey suit because of its potential, and I'm waiting for the classic suit from NWH to be revealed because I have a feeling that it would be a new mold hopefully like the rest of the recent MCU spideys.

Honestly I'd rather have an accurate mold with raised webbing and texture with no accessories than an inaccurate/cheap looking mold with all the accessories in the world bc at least the figure would look awesome and be accurate to what we see in the game
If they made the new mold, with texture and resonable paint apps. The price wouldn't be that big a deal.I'd still be pissed about the missing hands, what is the deal with that garbage? If they did thia figure as is with the "regular" price. I would still grumble. But thay obviously had to do the worst of both.

being a transformers collector we have been very vocal from day 1 (In 2020) that the Earthrise Starscream mold absolutely sucks and to this day they still make repaints of it. id honestly love to see you do a vid on transformers cos its a bit different from the typical action figure collecting experience
The thing about the original ps4 spider-man was that the head was from the spider-UK figure so i'm pretty sure that wasn't even original, but you know that's just GOOD OL HASBRO AT WORK AGAIN.

Hell as a marvel legend fan I fucking hate this figure and also honestly why is other marvel legend fans defending hasbro. Don’t get me wrong hasbro made some good figures but at the same time they are not flawless. Hasbro makes too many fucking repaints and it’s frustrating. And the quality for some of these figures went down the fucking drain. Spider Criminal makes a lot good points.
Of course Hasbro didn't put in the effort to make this figure actually look like the model from the game, they made figures of the Raptor Squad from Jurassic World and didn't even sculpt the Velociraptors' signature sickle toe claws. That's like making a toy of a T. rex with long arms.
inb4 they do a spider-verse and release an actual new mold years down the line (they released a miles and gwen two pack for the movie release, it was just repaints of the comic versions)
The second he mentioned it was made by hasbro, it all started to make sense. They even cheaped out on beyblade designs. Even back in the metal fight series
I'm not saying you can't or shouldn't be mad, but I do wanna list some of the reasons why these unfortunate things happen. Hasbro teams are usually given their budget for large periods of time, usually about a year. It's often why a mold gets reused a ton. Store exclusives usually don't matter in that larger budget pool cuz exclusives are most often funded by the store wanting to host them. Another point is that Hasbro prefers to start designing figures 1.5 - 2 years before they're shown or released. A luxury marvel and star wars doesn't always get which can really suck. I'm guessing most of the issues of this spiderman are from the marvel legends team rushing it in favor of doing something else better they feel will be more important. If I was a marvel legends fan, I wouldn't buy this spiderman. A lot of these aspects are expected and are generally fine with transformers generations but the same aspects hurt more when it happens to marvel and star wars. Power rangers lightning also makes a lot more sense when reusing body molds cuz it's kinda built into the brand a little. Unlike most marvel characters which are a lot more distinct from each other even with alternates of the same character.
Not liking a figure doesn't mean it's over priced but that spiderman even if he was a unique mold with all the right details, does not look like a $35 figure. If someone got it and could prove that it with all it's stuff is more than 110 grams of plastic I'll shut up but just looking at it, looks like just a regular marvel legends.
I don't mind reusing molds in general. I just hate how few they have, making all of them overused. And they don't make great choices in which parts to use for which character. With how successful the line was and hopefully still is, one would have thought they'd get an increase in budget over the years, but you can't really see it. What really makes me pissed is when they make new molds which have problems they solved before. Like the new Vulcan mold having crap leg and butterfly joints. The retool of the Sunfire is better in legs and was always great in butterfly joints, and it came out years before. The War machine had fantastic new balljoint movement, but the reto spidey and RYW was way worse and now they seem to have scrapped the idea and gone back to disc hinge again with Vulcan and First appearance Spidey. The Sunfire mold had trash shoulders, then they fixed them for Shang-Chi and NEVER used those better shoulders again. A lot of theese things are not because of budget.
I bought a bootleg Mafex Comic Spidey for the same price as that figure, and the sad part is the bootleg is much better than that figure the bootleg comes with tons of accessories, has great articulation (though some of the joints are pretty loose) and it never broke on me

i still remember the original marvel legends toy line way back when. they almost always were detailed and good quality. and came with stand pieces, other characters, maybe a big accessory, and a comic book. they were so awesome. and this spiderman looks like one id see at dollar general

And this is EXACTLY why I always stuck to the older toybiz Marvel legends figures, most of the time I just use the hasbro figures as bases for my customs
Honestly I'd rather have an accurate mold with raised webbing and texture with no accessories than an inaccurate/cheap looking mold with all the accessories in the world bc at least the figure would look awesome and be accurate to what we see in the game
If they made the new mold, with texture and resonable paint apps. The price wouldn't be that big a deal.I'd still be pissed about the missing hands, what is the deal with that garbage?

being a transformers collector we have been very vocal from day 1 (In 2020) that the Earthrise Starscream mold absolutely sucks and to this day they still make repaints of it. id honestly love to see you do a vid on transformers cos its a bit different from the typical action figure collecting experience

By now, they know that Spiderman is an automatic paycheck, sadly. Literally, the only time spider man doesn't sell good is when there's a better spider man figure being sold at the same time. What gets me as people will complain about repayments for every other figure except for spider man and maybe X men

Hell as a marvel legend fan I fucking hate this figure and also honestly why is other marvel legend fans defending hasbro. Don’t get me wrong hasbro made some good figures but at the same time they are not flawless. Hasbro makes too many fucking repaints and it’s frustrating. And the quality for some of these figures went down the fucking drain. Spider Criminal makes a lot good points.
Of course Hasbro didn't put in the effort to make this figure actually look like the model from the game, they made figures of the Raptor Squad from Jurassic World and didn't even sculpt the Velociraptors' signature sickle toe claws. That's like making a toy of a T. rex with long arms.

Its wild that they released such an awesome game version of Miles and then this one...
I'm not saying you can't or shouldn't be mad, but I do wanna list some of the reasons why these unfortunate things happen. Hasbro teams are usually given their budget for large periods of time, usually about a year. It's often why a mold gets reused a ton. Store exclusives usually don't matter in that larger budget pool cuz exclusives are most often funded by the store wanting to host them. Another point is that Hasbro prefers to start designing figures 1.5 - 2 years before they're shown or released. A luxury marvel and star wars doesn't always get which can really suck. I'm guessing most of the issues of this spiderman are from the marvel legends team rushing it in favor of doing something else better they feel will be more important. If I was a marvel legends fan, I wouldn't buy this spiderman. A lot of these aspects are expected and are generally fine with transformers generations but the same aspects hurt more when it happens to marvel and star wars. Power rangers lightning also makes a lot more sense when reusing body molds cuz it's kinda built into the brand a little. Unlike most marvel characters which are a lot more distinct from each other even with alternates of the same character.
Not liking a figure doesn't mean it's over priced but that spiderman even if he was a unique mold with all the right details, does not look like a $35 figure. If someone got it and could prove that it with all it's stuff is more than 110 grams of plastic I'll shut up but just looking at it, looks like just a regular marvel legends.
I don't mind reusing molds in general. I just hate how few they have, making all of them overused. And they don't make great choices in which parts to use for which character.
With how successful the line was and hopefully still is, one would have thought they'd get an increase in budget over the years, but you can't really see it.
What really makes me pissed is when they make new molds which have problems they solved before. Like the new Vulcan mold having crap leg and butterfly joints. The retool of the Sunfire is better in legs and was always great in butterfly joints, and it came out years before. The War machine had fantastic new balljoint movement, but the reto spidey and RYW was way worse and now they seem to have scrapped the idea and gone back to disc hinge again with Vulcan and First appearance Spidey.
The Sunfire mold had trash shoulders, then they fixed them for Shang-Chi and NEVER used those better shoulders again.
A lot of theese things are not because of budget.

I bought a bootleg Mafex Comic Spidey for the same price as that figure, and the sad part is the bootleg is much better than that figure
the bootleg comes with tons of accessories, has great articulation (though some of the joints are pretty loose) and it never broke on me
