Hey everyone! If you, like many others, want to know how I did the different styles of the flames at the end of this video, you can now download the project file here: gumroad.com/l/YJvfX and poke around. Enjoy!
Excellent video, I'll be checking more if your videos now. I'm guessing this technique probably wouldn't work on a raster layer (png illustration) would it?
what the hell........ amazing job ..... you made fire as fast as lightening occurs...... what are you looking for? The comment is at the top. go back to top. .. . .. I said go to top . there is nothing down here. . . . . . . . . (nothing).
this isn't what I was looking to make but the quality of the tutorial alone deserves a like and a comment. Thanks for providing people with quality resources!
Yo This Channel is a Gem,He focuses on the main topic instead of making the Video 3x Long to get Watch time. And you will understand everything more then by those big Tutorials. Respect 🤝
I guess in retrospect I probably should have. At the time though, my channel was basically nothing and I was just wanting to make tutorials that were easy to follow and cut out all the fluff. IMO the only real aspect I think he brought to the process that is unique is the use of track mattes. He's certainly not the first to use wave warp to create a fire effect. But my implementation was slightly different than his, and my goal was to cut the process down to the most simple steps. Even since my video has been posted there are other tutorials that have come out that teach basically the same process...and they teach it even better than I do. Good on them!
Did you use the pen tool? When you click, hold and drag, that will create a curve. Then, if you want to adjust, with the handles, go to the pen tool. Hold click and hold on the pen tool. And then select the convert vertex tool. (second to last) then you can use that tool to adjust your shape.
Try using "find Edges" instead, and then duplicating the comp and setting the comp underneath to Inverted Luma Matte. The find edges created an outline, and then by duplicating the comp and using the inverted luma matte you are using that top matte to cut out all the stuff inside the edges. It's kind of tricky so let me know if you have any questions.

How do i make it looping ?
That was quick and awesome!!
omg too fast.. how to duplicate layers? track mattes are fucked up after :(
1:05
You're doing a great job my friend. Subbed!
What is the purpose of the track matte in this situation (I'm a begginer)
It just creates a slightly more interesting shape of the flame with some harder angles than just the wave warp effect alone.
NICE !!!
Thanks!!
Any quick tip to texturing my character without going back to ai
Yeah, find your texture layer, and turn on preserve transparency

Hey guys, you know how to shape the tear how he did in 0:07. I can't finde these strings with the dots

Wow! cool! how did you style the fire at the end ???
This is sick.
is there any way to make an outline of it? i tried it with generate stroke and it didnt work
Try using "find Edges" instead, and then duplicating the comp and setting the comp underneath to Inverted Luma Matte.
