This is the best track on the album in my opinion. Truly a transcending experience. The arrangement. Vocal layering. Masterful production. The musicianship displayed with this project is refreshing. An ode to the great bands of the 70's and 80's. They understood the assignment.
My favourites song from the album is blast off the strings, bass and chord progressions in the last phase are amazing in that track, and the guitar solo 😌. I also like that it's slow and chill

I didn't listen to the audio track when I first heard of it, and instead came here to find the obvious music video that would exist when I saw Thundercat and Bootsy Collins on the track. The godfather of funk and whom is probably the if not one of Steven's top musical inspirations.
I bought the album because of the songs "Leave the door open" and "Smoking out the window" but when I first time heard this song, I knew, this is the best gem of all of the songs in the album. This album and especially this song is truly a masterpiece!

There is ‘that’ quality that adds to the allure and intrigue of most late 70s early 80s hits that is impossible to replicate with modern techniques. This song, and the whole album for that matter is the first collection in music I’ve seen that has ‘that’ factor. I got chills listening to this, as it gives me hope that there are still minds smart enough to create such a master peace. While younger generations tend to not understand the excellence of the past, I hope Silk Sonic sheds a light on what made the old classics special, and give the young ones a little nugget into the past history of music…

I love it when they say "If I still had my phone..." in the 2nd verse after saying they threw it out the window in the first - that sounds like something Thundercat would write lol. Great song and album!
Was looking for this, I love that they aren't afraid to be tongue in cheek about this genre that they clearly love but aren't afraid to lean into the corny aspects of it. It's charming and it really works!
When people ask what's missing from today's R&B music, I tell them the answer is simple; one word, Instruments! Singing or rapping over a beat is so disconnected from the music. Harmonizing with a band with actual instruments is what makes your soul shine. Allows the listeners to really connect with the song.
Rarely do I listen to a song that I can relisten to again and again and again and legitimately not get tired of it. This is the best song on the album, it's incredible how good it is. Every single aspect of it is perfect, Bootsy's ad-libs are just sublime.
I did not get expect, in 2021, to be reminded of artists like average white band, midnight star, the Isley brothers, and so many more. This late 70’s / early 80’s type of slow, funky R&B is something I didn’t think I’d be hearing again. But of course it’d be Bruno Mars to do it, and do it so freakin well. This song is Outstanding!!
Are you forgetting Anderson Paak? he’s much more seen crediting 70s/80s music than bruno is. Even in the album, Anderson really shows his effort in embodying the albums style where bruno honestly doesn’t change his singing style that much (not that he needs too)

He has been scratching that slow, funky R&B itch for me since I found him a few years back. Hes really great live too if you ever get the chance to see him. It's not just Bruno. Bootsy Collins had a lot to do with this old school sound for sure, and Anderson is awesome as well. It's Silk Sonic, not Bruno Mars. The group as a whole is fabulous. I hope they record another album soon. Their concert was the best I've attended, and I've attended numerous concerts.

This is refreshing to folks because this is 70s, 80s and 90s style R&B that they are bringing back. The songs are actually written correctly. These songs have a melody, a hook and a bridge. We haven’t heard music from a pop artist that is written properly in damn near 10 years.
Anderson is damn right when he said in one interview that Bruno is the cheat code that's brought his musical genius to the forefront and up to god-level..we see, hear and feel you now, thank God for Silk Sonic!
The fact that Bruno Mars went into a duo with him says a lot about Anderson .Paak as a musician and artist. Bruno doesn't need Mr. .Paak to advance his music career, but what comes through on this album is that Mr. Mars enjoyed this experience and the friendship and the collaboration. We are blessed to have this gift from them.
I feel like Anderson is FINALLY going to get get the props he deserves and become a mainstream household name. There is ‘that’ quality that adds to the allure and intrigue of most late 70s early 80s hits that is impossible to replicate with modern techniques. This song, and the whole album for that matter is the first collection in music I’ve seen that has ‘that’ factor. I got chills listening to this, as it gives me hope that there are still minds smart enough to create such a master peace. While younger generations tend to not understand the excellence of the past, I hope Silk Sonic sheds a light on what made the old classics special, and give the young ones a little nugget into the past history of music…

Rarely do I listen to a song that I can relisten to again and again and again and legitimately not get tired of it. This is the best song on the album, it's incredible how good it is. Every single aspect of it is perfect, Bootsy's ad-libs are just sublime.
I did not get expect, in 2021, to be reminded of artists like average white band, midnight star, the Isley brothers, and so many more. This late 70’s / early 80’s type of slow, funky R&B is something I didn’t think I’d be hearing again. But of course it’d be Bruno Mars to do it, and do it so freakin well. This song is Outstanding!!
