My family moved when I was going into 10th grade and I signed up for it the new school. It was completely different because most of the girls usually got married within a year or so of graduating. Insurance, flatwear, dish patterns, etc were the focus, none of which I was interested in but was important regardless of your plans. That was 55 years ago when girls mostly either got married, became a teacher or a nurse, period. Hi Laura...love your channel. I had to laugh when you were saying that you don't always retain names of plants or whatever as fast as you used to. I mentioned that very fact to my Mom one day years ago and she explained it like this.....your brain is like a carousel that goes around and around, and if you can't think of the name, information, etc......just wait a minute and it'll come around again. I asked her what happens if the carousel goes around several times and you still can't catch the info.....she said "Oh Honey...your carousel is too full. You need to knock some stuff off of there!" She told me these words of wisdom when she was in her 90s. I was just so relieved to know I was not quite as bad off as I thought I was!!!
Good Morning guys! Just wanted to let you know that I'm loving my Nature's Willow. It arrived within a few days. It contained several samples so I can share with my family and friends.
It was so nice to see your mom and Monica in the garden center redecorating video. Your mom must be completely overloaded between work and the construction at their home. So sorry they had to lose the tree, but it will make room for new memories in their new space with their family and friends gathering there.

Love the kids, the cats, and how you, your mom and Monica do such neat things with each other! Love all the videos. I have learned so much. Also, I am getting a landscape redo this fall. Can’t wait!
I can SO relate to feeling a definite loss losing a tree. Almost like a death in the family. On the farm I grew up on (near where Laura and Aaron are), we had a really big weeping white birch. It was beautiful, and I spent a tremendous amount of time in my youth up in that tree. I would read books up there and watch the world go by from that high very private vantage point. Well, I moved away, my dad passed away, my mom and my brother and his family still were there. (My brother and his family were then living in another house nearby). My mom took a couple of years to spend time away, renting the house out to another family. During that time, the grass under the tree was removed for another project, so irrigation was suspended around the tree. No one thought about watering the tree and it died. I still morn the loss of that tree and it’s been years since any of us has lived there. I morn the loss of the farm, too, and I haven’t had a say in the running of that farm in decades, but I still feel it 😥
I can see where loosing a tree would be difficult. I try to keep all of mine as tight as possible, seeing as I just wouldn't know how to loose them properly.
I completely understand. Losing loved plants/trees, homes, etc. is like a death. The beautiful memories are mingled with pain. At least, that is my experience.
I’m so sorry Susan and those who have experience the loss of a real family tree-my father in-laws had a horrible storm take out his huge, historic beautiful tree last year and we as a whole family all mourned the loos of the iconic tree… it just held magical moments in our families daily life…it’s not only hurt our hearts to see it gone but it has us running for SHADE in the dog days of summer! It will forever be missed😢💚🌳
I Love Aaron’s reaction when you said Yes to get a cow. Lol. All of the flowers are sooo Beautiful and the pond is Awesome. I Love watching all of the areas evolve and grow into this amazing nature forest.
The way you work Laura is the true testament of passion and talent. Gardening is your lane. I love learning from you! I just purchased some merch! Thanks for holding the 48hr sale. Also, thanks for answering my question in this video!! I feel so special when Laura mentions my name! lol
Good morning all on this cool Michigan morning. Laura I was wondering if there’s a possibility’s you may consider adding some v-neck shirts to you inventory with some lighter colors??? I know I for one would be purchasing several. Thanks so much for the Sunday updates too I so look forward to them👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️❤️
I graduated high school in '14, and I never had home economics. ☹️ Never learned how to do anything handy or homey or with plants or even taxes. Every school needs to bring that back! I totally would have taken it if it was an option!
So right! I had a home economics class and am now in my sixties! So many times I think, "Thankyou Mrs. Smith!"! (We lived overseas and went to an international school. ) How difficult on do many levels it would have been for me if I hadn't had that class!
Pumpkin cookies are great as well! My mom use to make them during the fall and winter months. She would leave some plain and then add raisons & nuts to some. Either are very tasty lol. After my mom passed away years ago now, as I was the only girl out of six children, I got all of her recipe boxes. (I had already copied many of them over the years), But Great memories on those stained and handwritten cards.
Creeping phlox does not have to be dead-headed! When the blooms are spent, the foliage hides the blooms. It’s a lovely, easy care plant that slowly spreads and is easily propagated. It is the favorite plant of many southern spring gardens as a border plant. My mom used it to cover the top of a berm that separated her yard from her neighbors’ yards.
Oh my, I laughed out loud when you said a cow might be in the near future and Aaron rolled his eyes and said 'oh geez' 😂 totally reminded me of my husband and I. I keep saying that I am going to get chickens for fresh eggs and my husband is like 'are you for real?!' 😅
The Cape plumbago is the tropical variety (native to South Africa) and they are BIG shrubs covered in sky blue blooms. It looks almost like a hydrangea. I grow mine in zone 9b in Japan 😊
I grow mine here in 9/10, Santa Barbara California. They grow large and can be easily trimmed, if needed. They add such a beautiful blue flower to the garden. I'm thinking about the dwarf variety and wondering if I can find some.
Hey, Aaron, I'm 5'4 3/4" and I definitely tell people I'm 5'5"! btw, you guys are so smart to take those daily evening walks, "post prandial" they're called! After dinner, helps with digestion, cooler part of the day, checking on and enjoying your property that you work so hard on, teaching your children, appreciating who made all things, and getting some valuable mild daily exercise (besides all the hard work you do!).
Chaco makes sandals specifically for river rafting & water wear and they're super comfortable! They have adjustable straps that hug all the right places, so stay put. My go-to for hiking, river walking & everyday use. They make slip-on versions too!
I have 4 pins in my left ankle and completely flat feet 🦶 so chacos are my go to sandals, I even have Chaco boots! Although I’m a big Birkenstock fan as well!
I have owned Chaos for over a decade. I take them travelling, swimming, SUPping, hiking and love them. They also are easy to repair if the sole starts to come apart. :)
I love my chacos for hiking and water. I love the look of the style that straps around the big toe but hate how it feels, so I buy the style that does not have the "toe jail".
When I was a kid here in UK my dad had two Jersey cows and used to milk them each morning, just sitting on a milk stool, using a metal pail. After 2 hours in the pantry we'd skim 1" of cream off the top. So delicious. Cows were very friendly and safe near us little children, dad even sat us on their backs. Lots of cow pats of course, lol.
Hi Laura! Aaron is right. Know the motives. I have been a garden answer fan since COVID. Your love of gardening, lifting up others, and inspiring more people to try gardening comes through in everything you do. If you have another free flower day, share it. Share the love that you are giving to friends and family. Goodness spreads goodness. And maybe pray on it. I can hear the humility is important to you and I know God will too. Have a wonderful day.
Always enjoy how you an Aaron enact on these videos. The knowledge you both have is endless. You show respect and love for each other that is beautiful.
At some point as a mom of littles, I switched over to making any & all sweet breads in muffin tins. No more mangled loaves, no need for me to cut (and cut, and cut). I love using the Wilton cupcake batter spoons to measure the right amount for each muffin. Game changer so everyone's muffin was the same. Also, if you like peanut butter, mix some peanut butter and brown sugar together. Make your Banana bread recipe, but fill your muffin tins about 1/3rd full . Place a teaspoon +/- of the peanut butter mixture in the middle of each muffin. Top with the remaining batter, making sure to cover the peanut butter and bake as usual. My kids loved coming home from school and finding "Peanut Butter Surprise" muffins waiting for them. (Sorry, I don't really have a recipe for the peanut butter mixture, I just made it up one day to put some protein into the muffins.)
"some people are just not blessed with social awareness" and then "people exist in the world like this that you have to deal with" 😂😂😂 this totally cracked me up. I listened to this video at night in bed and lol at your comment..😂😂 love it.
I’ve watched your videos religiously for YEARS…. Started with “how to prune a rose bush” (in the townhouse). You’ve been deemed “my friend Laura” ever since. I’ve never commented before - this video got me for 2 key items that stuck a cord. 1) Aaron…. “Going to a Vikings game with my family” - you caught my heart as a born and raise MN sports fan! 💜💛🏈 (Although currently living in the border in Fargo, ND) 2) “Some people are just not socially aware.” We built a home on a 2 acre wooded lot and planned out my DREAM garden while we wait for grass to grow and winter to subside. (It’s an enclosed garden due to heavy deer, turkey, groundhog & rabbit pressure.) it was PERFECT. Someone bought the lot next to us…. Ripped out ALL the trees…. And put a TWO HUNDRED FOOT driveway ON the property line. WIth a 30’ shed at the end. (RIGHT in the property line - RIGHT behind the BEAUTIFUL garden we’ve been working on for a year. The orchard planned behind is no longer feasible due to the infrastructure (and ascetics)…. 3) And 9 of our established trees’ root systems near that edge have gotten damaged from the driveway work - according to our arborist. They need to be removed. It’s so disheartening trying to understand people’s selfish thigh processes…. They also have 2 acres and saw what we were doing… I just don’t get it. 😢
Losing trees is so hard. We had to take out two huge trees in February. A white maple and a pecan. They were dying slowly and we could have kept them going but bit the bullet and had them removed. The change in our yard is enormous and has been tough to adjust to. We’re looking at it as an opportunity to redevelop the yard. It’s a slow process but should be great in the end. Mourning the loss is sometimes much heavier than others.
Oh my gosh! I hate my dianthus for the exact same reasons, but I haven't pulled it out yet because I feel bad since it is alive and happy where it's at. I bought them at the garden center 3 years ago! 😂 I have a ground-cover phlox that I love though, it does have gorgeous super early blooms and I never do anything to it and then it just loses the blooms and looks like a gorgeous little ground cover the rest of the year.
To the lady in Montana who wanted to know about winterizing, I might add to drain garden hoses and if you have HoseLink hoses bring them inside. The sprayers break if left outside over our cold winters. I live in WI zone 4b and I learned the hard way.
Snowball - brings a memory of driving with my mother along small rural back roads. Mom pointed out a huge snowball bush and said my aunt used to cut blooms from it for their church altar. Aunt did the flowers every week. Whenever I hear about snowball bushes, my mind is transported back to that lovely day. Huge bush in hedgerow, probably left from some long ago farm house.
Thoroughly enjoy your recap videos! I don't get a chance to watch you every day and the recap reminds me to go back and catch up. I enjoy your and Aaron's back and forth, as if I'm eavesdropping while you're sitting on one of your many benches and discussing the gardens. Thanks for all the great plant information and videos with the children included.
Leave the stump. It’ll be beneficial to your soil as it decomposes. Plus the nature touch is perfect. I want a clear pond too but those side benefits are a bonus. We must be patient.
Anyone that sets out a pot of grass for their indoor cat is growing either wheat grass or oat grass. So yes! Wheat grows great in pots! It just looks like lovely soft grass and keeps flushing back as cats chew it down but eventually it sets seed.
How wonderful it will be for your mom to host the entire family for dinner comfortably! We have 17 in our immediate family so I know how she feels. Can’t wait to see the reveal. 😊
My wife and I found our Desert Orchid at the Zamzow's in Nampa close to Lowe's on the Nampa Caldwell blvd. We were actually on our way out, couldn't make up our mind and thought the heck with it and we found it outside. One of the store employees said it was a return. We love it and it smells so good.
These recap videos are becoming my favorite thing. I especially like it when you and Aaron chat about things that you just thought of. It’s like we are part of the conversation.

Re. writing on tags. Sharpie Extreme (not Industrial) is the one you want, if you like Sharpies. Also, Avery clear laser labels work and stay legible for years! I use the address size labels on zinc graden markers from EON Industries as well as on markers cut from vinyl window blinds. Oddly enough, pencil is long-lasting as well, and I especially like the 1.3mm mechanical pencils.

Reason to have hanging baskets: Old fashioned street lamps along a section of drive with the wrought iron arms to hang baskets from. That's what popped into my head when you said there's really no place you could see a use for them.
Hi Laura and Aaron It is so nice to hear you talking about simple things But it’s not that simple I do agree with Aaron the Laura knows lots about the plants in your area and how many she name it and she remember that’s impressive that’s one of the reasons I love to see your videos Sorry Spanish it’s my first language if I make a mistake spelling love your videos thanks for the Inspiration
Your speaking of the stress to get flowers to look like the Bonide logo reminded me - we have an event that lasts all summer long, It is called the Quilt Gardens along the Heritage Trail. It is gardens shaped as specific quilt patterns spread around Elkhart County, Indiana. You have to drive it - it is spread out all over the county and it celebrates both gardening and the heritage of quilt making which is very prominent in our area.
I sure would like to buy a nice Garden Answer tea (or coffee) cup with some of your beautiful flowers on it! Hint, hint! What a perfect way to start a day while watching your video!
A note on the tannins happening in the pond, it will eventually go away with water evap and fresh water being added in. Will just look a bit coffe-water-like for a few months. Otherwise you could do more frequent water changes to speed up the tannins being removed.
You gave me the confidence to just look at my Japanese maple and take off the branches that needed to go. I grew it from a sucker in my dad's yard so it was super busy and needed to be limbed up. It's so pretty now!
Why don’t you consider Shepherd Hooks by your benches in the circle? They would be lovely with two heights on each hook standing behind each bench. You could also put one behind the Adirondack chairs by the pond where you and Aaron enjoy relaxing. Just a thought since Aaron seems to enjoy hanging baskets and why not give him those with the sweet potato vines, anything for Aaron! ❤️👍

Grammar police! “Losing”, not “loosing”.
Laura your knowledge is off the scale... So impressive your recall.
I Love Aaron’s reaction when you said Yes to get a cow. Lol. All of the flowers are sooo Beautiful and the pond is Awesome. I Love watching all of the areas evolve and grow into this amazing nature forest.
Always love the videos where you and Aaron banter back and forth!!! And Aaron asks you some good questions ♥️
Thanks so much for the Sunday updates too I so look forward to them👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️❤️
I would like to suggest baseball style shirts…flattering and comfortable
Yes please! I only wear v neck t-shirts and would love some pretty colors too.
I graduated high school in '14, and I never had home economics. ☹️ Never learned how to do anything handy or homey or with plants or even taxes. Every school needs to bring that back! I totally would have taken it if it was an option!
I graduated in 1981 took home ec and shop was even offered to the girls! I took it that, too! Good experience 😁
So right! I had a home economics class and am now in my sixties! So many times I think, "Thankyou Mrs. Smith!"! (We lived overseas and went to an international school. )
How difficult on do many levels it would have been for me if I hadn't had that class!
That “warranty sign” 😍 YES!!
Love Aaron's eye roll at the mention of a cow!!
Great comment!
We just bought 25 chicks. 😊
I have a soy sensitivity, and almost all commercial hens are fed soy based feed. 😢
The Cape plumbago is the tropical variety (native to South Africa) and they are BIG shrubs covered in sky blue blooms. It looks almost like a hydrangea. I grow mine in zone 9b in Japan 😊
We have them here in Tampa 9b too! They get big!
I grow mine here in 9/10, Santa Barbara California. They grow large and can be easily trimmed, if needed. They add such a beautiful blue flower to the garden. I'm thinking about the dwarf variety and wondering if I can find some.
I have them in GA too! They are sooooo drought tolerant and amazing!
Hi there! I’m in Tampa… hotter than heck as usual! Do you think those sandals would be good for walking? Thanks for the heads up!
❤from one Susan to another, have a beautiful day❤
Great recap! Always enjoy my Sundays (after church) with you and Aaron! ❤
Laura is the best tho! Such a natural at this and w the camera! Most garden people are slow and boring but she makes it so interesting! ❤
I had home economics in school too! Learned a lot then and everyone should have it!
I even took shop class
I wish that you guys would plant a field of lavender 💜 It would be so beautiful
Always enjoy how you an Aaron enact on these videos. The knowledge you both have is endless. You show respect and love for each other that is beautiful.
I feel exactly the same way about being productive every day. It simply makes me a happier person. Anything that promotes progress is worth doing. 😊
Would love to see a progress video on your parents remodel
"some people are just not blessed with social awareness" and then "people exist in the world like this that you have to deal with" 😂😂😂 this totally cracked me up. I listened to this video at night in bed and lol at your comment..😂😂 love it.
It is because you have a gift,Laura. That’s why you make it look easy❣️
3/4 c. Brown sugar, 1/4 c. Flour, 3/4 c. Chopped pecans, 1/4 c. Melted butter. For pumpkin bread topping. I JUST made some today. It is AMAZING.
Love Aaron’s look when u brought up a cow!!!😅
Coffee cups would be awesome to add to your merch. A lot of us watch your videos while having our coffee. Lol
💜💛🏈 (Although currently living in the border in Fargo, ND)
2) “Some people are just not socially aware.” We built a home on a 2 acre wooded lot and planned out my DREAM garden while we wait for grass to grow and winter to subside.
I feel so bad for you! You have our sympathy. It’s a sad thing when care for this beautiful Earth is lacking!
Thank you for offering size inclusive merch. Please consider offering ladies V-neck tees. Thanks!❤🌸
I SECOND THIS! I prefer a v-neck as a crew neck makes me claustrophobic!
Totally agree with Laura about Dianthus. It's not worth planting in my area of Toledo, Ohio (6A)
Losing trees is so hard.
It is so enjoyable listening to the banter between you and Aaron.
Me too! I hate digging up healthy plants. I was trying to think of a friend who might enjoy and take care of them. Until then....lol
I’m not a dianthus fan either.
Morning Laura n Aaron its so good to see you all this morning with all your knowledge love how Aaron is chiming in this morning have a wonderful day
So glad Sue loved her planter it's awesome that you made it for her
Thoroughly enjoy your recap videos!
Good morning all have a safe and blessed day ❤
Anyone that sets out a pot of grass for their indoor cat is growing either wheat grass or oat grass. So yes! Wheat grows great in pots! It just looks like lovely soft grass and keeps flushing back as cats chew it down but eventually it sets seed.
I grew a flat of it. The dogs pulled it out by the roots, and the cats laid on it. 😆
In England we use elderflowers to make cordial and wine, very nice x
These recap videos are becoming my favorite thing. I especially like it when you and Aaron chat about things that you just thought of. It’s like we are part of the conversation.
I'm so excited at the thought of you getting a cow! Have you seen a mini Highland cow before? They are precious and you can milk them!
My friend has a ministry called Run Hard Rest Well. One of the things that she says about rest is to do something that refreshes you. I think playing with plants in the Heartly refreshes you. Pretty much anything with plants refreshes you. Me too!
Yea Garden Answer video ! Thank you for the highlights as it just refreshes my mind on all the beauty we saw last.
You guys don't know it but Garden Answer joins me in my morning run at the gym 6 days a week, so thank you for such positive and uplifting content.
I've always followed the ABC's and 3 D's of pruning. Acute angle branches, Bent branches, and Crossing branches; Disease, Dead, and Dying/Damaged branches.
I love Aaron’s reaction to the cow!!!!
I love that Aaron is a Vikings fan! My husband and I just went to a pre-season game! Love from MN!
I love wheat germ sprinkled on top of ice cream that’s got a little honey drizzled on top. Plus that’s where a lot of nutrients are like vit. E.
I thought it was great you just got into the pond in your clothes 😄
Ha ha ha…Arron…rolling your eyes! 😂 …about getting a cow 😅 priceless!
Your beverage always looks so refreshing, especially with this Arizona heat!
I absolutely love your channel and have been watching just as you were discussing purchasing this original property. I have learnd so much from you.
PLEASE, offer v-neck tee-shirts.❤
laughed out loud at Aaron rolling his eyes when you mentioned a cow 😅
Really I think like you Laura the clothes were dirty especially the knees and the pond was your way of pre- rinsing you’re cloths. 😂😂😂
Love all the projects. Thank you so very much for sharing this with us.🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Dianthus is a pain in the Midwest, too. Blooms profusely in the spring then get shaggy looking if you don’t keep them deadheaded regularly.
Re. writing on tags.
Aaron explaining how you just "know things about things/plants and are really good at it but don't know "the why" as much - describes me EXACTLY about my line of work! I'm a Vet Tech. Everyone always says I should go to school to be a Dr. With all this knowledge I have but I HATE book work and honestly don't want all that debt 🤐
Love your videos ❤
Laura and Aaron, I just ordered my shirt last night, and it's already shipped! Anyone wanting their merchandise it's soooo worth it, plus a great way to support our fabulous teacher 😉
Good morning all!🥒🫑🥕🌽💐🌹🌻
Reason to have hanging baskets: Old fashioned street lamps along a section of drive with the wrought iron arms to hang baskets from. That's what popped into my head when you said there's really no place you could see a use for them.
Really enjoy Aaron's participation and comments on these videos.
Hi Laura and Aaron
It is so nice to hear you talking about simple things
But it’s not that simple I do agree with Aaron the Laura knows lots about the plants in your area and how many she name it and she remember that’s impressive that’s one of the reasons I love to see your videos
Sorry Spanish it’s my first language if I make a mistake spelling love your videos thanks for the Inspiration
Laura, would love to see some stickers and magnets of the flowers, bouquets....Bev! Lol.
I have been to view the quilt gardens several times. So pretty but I'm sure it's a lot of work to maintain them all summer.
I sure would like to buy a nice Garden Answer tea (or coffee) cup with some of your beautiful flowers on it! Hint, hint! What a perfect way to start a day while watching your video!
Oh no I could of never just watch someone eat every strawberry off that plant lol…. Monica, you have more inside voice than me lol.
