    Good to hear NB are making their shoes increasingly more sustainable. I have the previous release of the Hierro and have run in them almost exclusively since September and they’ve been really comfortable and are wearing well. If I need to replace them
    It’s good to hear the updated version are good too.

      The v7s are a great all around shoe. I also use them to do yard work around the house . Climb up things .
      They are those shoes that can do it all

    Thanks Loyd, I've just bough a pair in Dark Olivine. I went up a size and went for the extra wide version. They're so comfortable it's untrue. I'm very impressed with them, especially the grip the rubber on the sole is extremely sticky. It's also worth mentioning that foam is much softer in the heal than the toe. Apparently the midsole is deliberately manufactured this way to be denser further towards the front and it's really noticeable. Very forgiving for heal striking but surprisingly stable at the toe off. They put a smile on my face every time I lace them up and take them out. Would highly recommend. Surprised more channels aren't raving about them. Well done for getting the full review out ahead of the rest.

    I've had good luck with the V6 and v7 but something about the V8 feels off. Lockdown feels so poor I won't even run in them. Opted for the New Balance Summit Unknown v4 instead.

    Hi! Thank you for yet another great review. Can you make a video around good shoes that tackles road and trail equally good and with lots of cushioning?
    I find it so hard to find a shoe that I can use for in and out of the forest roads (non technical) that can handle 20+ kms. (meaning not pegasus trail)
    I tend to use a road shoe, but I would really love some just 3mm lugs that doesnt give a poor feeling on the roads.
    Dream would be a superblast or endorphin speed with just a bit of lugs.

      There's quite a lot of shoes with 3mm lugs and decent foams... It's going to have a lot to do with your foot shape.
      Personally I'm loving the merrell morphlites for my slightly offroad adventures. I call them my "gravel shoes" because they are squishy and bouncy and absorb all of the shock from hard roads and they really do a good job of absorbing stones and larger gravel chunks even though I don't think it has a rock plate. Though it does have a pretty springy shank of some kind. Also glides along on roads. And has surprisingly good grip when wet.
      th-cam.com/video/nZWh1hKhafU/w-d-xo.html
      Or the merrell nova 3, which is a pretty good shoe with vibram rubber, it's kind of a toned down version of the agility peak 5, 4mm lugs and they go all around the edge so it's a lot smoother on the hard stuff.
      Or you might look at something like the hoka gaviota, it doesn't have "lugs" but it has very deep grooves that effectively work like channels in a tire and gives you 12 large lugs that can dig into some mud if you need it. Personally I think it feels like driving on square wheels, but a lot of people like it.
      And most brands have a "road to trail" shoe like the hoka challenger or the altra outroad, asics gel venture, or the novablast which is essentially a superblast with a luggier outsole.
      Hope that helps!

    Thanks for doing this video Loyd! New Balance is about the only brand doing trail shoes wide enough for me, so it's really valuable to know how these are doing for you.
    Any plans to have a look at the New Balance FuelCell Venym? I don't think it's going to come to Canada for me, but I'm still really interested in what they've done with it.

    • @jansommerlund5497
      @jansommerlund5497 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have the Venym and its absolutely brilliant. Fit is perfect, midsole better than perfect and a decent grip. Upper is nice and secure around the mid foot and the toe box is wide and comfortable. The tongue is a bit thin and short and for me the only slight negative. Outsole is a bit noisy on hard ground but not a problem and grip is fine in the woods and on paths. For me the shoe of the year so far.

    Maybe you can add durometer for testing the hardness of the shoes foam 🙏. So, the hardness of the foam is a bit standarized for comparison, not only basically on feeling or looking.

    • @greigseavill629
      @greigseavill629 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't actually see the point in the durometer as so many brands are now wrapping their soft foam inside a firmer foam for stability.

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m not sure that would tell you a lot, it obviously comes down to how it feels underfoot. I’ve had shoes that feel quite firm when you push into the foam and then you put running weight through them and they run a lot softer 👍

  • @JC-fj7oo
    @JC-fj7oo 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Something to note, on the larger sizes (US 13) they don't have half sizes and they are VERY NARROW for some reason. And the 14 is just way too long for me. Though it was a decent width.
    Could have just been that pair, the store only had the one in a 13

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You can definitely run the HIERRO V8 on a mix of road and trail. As far as running shoes causing backache and knee pain, it tends to be several things that cause issues like that for runners. I’d recommend going to see a good sports physio to get to the root of the problem 👍🙂

    • @eoinmccann8450
      @eoinmccann8450 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Recommend getting a running gait analysis, at your local running shop. I have bought so many running shoes and so many were hurting me, my feet were going numb and sore knees etc, got that checked and turned out I overpronate, and they recommended the ASICS gel Kayano 31s and I haven't had any pain and my running is better, I also had to size up as my feet are size 11, not 10 like I have thought for years. You also get to see a video of how you run and it's eye opening. Definitely also see a physio for the back pain.

    Thank fuck there's a shoe out there WITHOUT THE MORONIC GUSSETED TONGUE! In the days before gusset tongues I never ever had a tongue move after I'd laced the shoe up. It also meant more room for getting into the shoe, and the ability to adjust placement of the tongue before lacing it down, and never once had dirt enter a shoe because the tongue wasn't gusseted. The fucking never ending love by people of gusseted tongues isn't based on anything factual and is nothing more than a religious tenet.

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Not a fan of a gusseted tongue then Neil! Firstly a gusseted tongue isn’t meant to stop dirt entering your shoes, it’s designed to give you a more secure midfoot lock down. I’ve had lots of issues over the years with tongues that aren’t gusseted in trail running shoes and I’ve run in 100’s of different pairs so I’d say that factual evidence. Obviously a lot of it comes down to personal foot shape and everyone’s foot shape is very different, yours clearly doesn’t like a gusseted tongue but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing for others. Thanks for watching 👍
