    People dismiss this as an expensive toy, but the Immersion Mode I experienced while demoing this blew my mind. It gave me goosebumps. The football demo where you get to watch a match hovering above the goals, and a demo where you're in a recording studio, face to face with Alicia Keys was simply incredible. I think ultimately this is where the product will live or die in the consumer space, content that justifies ownership, and a more affordable option.

      Its a solitary experience, Quest 3 does the same and you can go and join in with various chat groups, joint cinema experiences etc. The AVP isn't great.

      It's an extremely good headset, hopefully the software improves but you get to see the future.
      Obviously it's expensive but they can charge that price because Meta Q3 is a superb headset but we get rubbish resolution and no oled so Apple are ruling the visuals at the moment.
      Relatively I think it would have been decent at just under £2000 but for the money it's certainly a better headset technology wise than any Pico, Quest or Varjo which costs much more.
      If they want large adoption they need to release a lite version next year but so far I am impressed with the VP. It's the first time I have been truly impressed with the visuals of a VR headset. My old Crystal was pretty decent but it wasn't close to the VP quality.

    One great thing Vision pro can do is we can watch our favourite show laying on the bed or couch and the screen will be on ceiling. Similarly, we can do multiple chores in the comfort of our own orientation.

    Plenty of reasons to use this while trying to get work done while sitting somewhere in public. You’ve never had a better portable multi screen setup. Beats just sitting with a laptop by a lot… that said I’ve never allowed myself to do that because the current stigma is deep. People viewing public use with contempt like dude here

    I’m sure it’s fantastic but at $6K, it’s simply cost prohibitive for the true productive functional uses - I couldn’t make more money with this. In fact it’s so expensive that I’m not interested in trying it - a rich person’s toy. Oh, and I love Apple gear. This is much the same as buying a fully spec’ed up Merc.

    • @davidharraway8131
      @davidharraway8131 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Fair enough on the cost benefit equation. I have a few US based techie friends who love their VPs for Producutivity - extending desktop infinately from their Macs. I think the main use current case is for in the field virtual support by specialist technicians though...where downtime for complex systems is very expensive. I work in Assistive Technology and one of the less commented on features of this is the implementation of advanced eye tracking. At the moment Apple haven''t made an API for the eye tracking available for devs but if they have Eye Tracking built into the next iteration of VP OS (like it kind of is in iOS18....not so good though) then this could be used by people wth MND/ALS as a communication device.

    • @NeilLavitt
      @NeilLavitt 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@davidharraway8131 there is no question that there are uses for it and with those willing to lay $6K on it, sure, you’d want to make it productive. Still, I also get the impression that many early adopters are frustrated by the rate of progress and I doubt many developers will make a living making apps for it. I’ll come back to it in a few years when the product line evolves.

      I think of it as a TV.

    I've watched an obscene amount of videos about the Vision Pro. It’s nice to finally see/hear an Aussie talking about it 😅
    The pass through is something I’m a bit disappointed about. The degraded quality is purely because you’re looking through a camera. I wish it used better cameras. For 6k you’d think it would.
    I’m taking this Friday off. Picking up my headset at 9am. Very exciting 😄
    Thanks for the vid

    • @AriSanX
      @AriSanX 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The cameras can be used to take high res photos and videos so i assume the low passthrough is not due to the cameras themselves but rather the vision pros ability to send such a high res video in realtime at high refresh rate straight to the screens.
      From all the reviews ive watched the passthrough is the best in the industry at the moment.

      @@AriSanX You make some good points. I’ve read the camera used for pass through is 6.5 MP, which isn’t great.

      @@James-lw3gi very keen to hear your thoughts compared to some others. Also curious what your current main use case is for VR/AR prior to vision pro and if that changes after.

    • @James-lw3gi
      @James-lw3gi 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@AriSanX I've owned many headsets, but currently, I only have the Quest 3. I don't get into VR gaming much, so the headsets always end up gathering dust. The Quest 3 screens are much better than the previous versions, but still not good enough. I wouldn't watch TV with that resolution.
      The VP will primarily be used for multimedia consumption. I hope to use it for productivity, but only time will tell if that becomes a reality.
      I have a mate who works at Apple; I'm getting a good discount on the device. Plus, if I do use it for work, I can salary sacrifice it. So while it is expensive, it's not that bad. Especially when compared to buying a 100” OLED TV 😄
      I'll try and remember to come back here and let you know how I go tomorrow 👍

      @@James-lw3gihow did you go? I did a demo in Sydney yesterday and was blown away. And I’ve done a lot of research and heard all the hype and hyperbole about this product but it was even better than expected. Watching movies was impressive but immersive video (Alicia Keys, sports, high wire woman right there in front of you, dinosaur in your face, hippos about to tackle you, little girl blowing out candles in your face and feeling like she’s going to bump into you all in 8K) is insane.

    • @James-lw3gi
      @James-lw3gi 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have the Quest 3. It’s an excellent product for its price but doesn't compare to me.
      The Quest focuses more on gaming; the Vision Pro seems to be primarily a media consumption/productivity device.
      The marriage between hardware and software sets the VP apart; in my opinion, the UI in Meta is dated and clunky. Vision OS is the opposite. Plus, the Quest's screens, while better than their predecessors, are pretty bad. If my work PC looked like the Quest, I'd definitely complain.
      The OLED screens are so much nicer in the VP.
      So I guess you get what you pay for. Some people will compare the two and feel the extra $$$ isn't justified. I look at my quest and know I don't use it very much as its not a great experience for what I want to do.

      The Apple Vision Pro is garbage 🗑 and I have the Quest 3 and the PSVR2 and the PSVR2 is 3 times the power as it uses the PS5 and also has a much brighter screen than the Apple Vision Pro I use my Quest 3 for Music Production as it has a headphone jack so I can connect it to my soundcard and record straight into Logic Pro X I also use it for Fitness and Apple's headset is to fragile and heavy for that use and the Quest 3 has access to all of the best VR Software and it also has way way way more fully immersive Mixed Reality apps as it has been capable that feature way before the Apple Vision Pro came out and there is no such thing as Spatial computing Apple just made the word up its called AR or Mixed Reality and the Quest 3 UI is getting much better and I also have a app which looks and feels just like the Vision Pro's UI it's called Spatial App and the Quest 3 gets better and better every single month with brand new features and the Vision Pro does not as Apple is sllllooowwww with its updates and Apple's next headset is not the Vision Pro 2 it's going to be a Quest 3 competitor so that tells you that even Apple knows its headset is just a overpriced piece of garbage and I own a few Apple Products including a Macbook Pro, Mac Mini, iPad and more accessories and I use all with my Quest 3

      @@jdarg4163 That wall of text is super hard to read. You need to learn how to punctuate!
      Do you also own the VP? I've owned everything you mentioned but won't get the VP until tomorrow.
      I can already tell we're going to disagree on almost everything. I think Quest 3 is rubbish. It's great for its price, but still rubbish; even with their updates, the UI is so dated, and the screens are awful compared to something like Bigscreen Beyond or the VP. I'm putting it up for sale this coming weekend.

    Honestly, this comes across as a review by someone that hasn't tried a wide variety of VR/MA/AR headsets - from someone that has, its not that effective, uncomfortable, staggeringly limited and over priced. I just went for a Quest 3 for $1000 and with V67 OS installed it is little different from the AVP and yet has multiple social functions, endless games and can be used as a productivity tool - the AVP does productivity marginally better and with less friction - but the difference isn't huge.
