The cinematography and editing in this video are second to none! Loved the explanation of the two stroke power delivery and the purpose of the expansion chamber. This is not meant to start a verbal war on 2 stroke vs 4 stroke, but I can’t begin to explain what I feel when I hear a perfectly jetted 2 cycle engine at idle or at song. The resonance of sound reverberating through the exhaust is music to my ears! It’s like my brain and auditory canal are hardwired to achieve euphoria when subjected to the delightful sounds that are characteristic to a two stroke dirt or street bike(for those of us old enough to remember them). I’m lying on my floor watching and listening to these guys wringing this motorcycle out and find myself instinctively throwing up the 🤙 sign! Thank you much for taking the time to shoot and produce this killer video because it has been the highlight of my Thanksgiving Day. Cheers.
I think the funniest part about riding is when you are really in your groove the bike doesn't feel like its flopping around underneath you. You still feel that jerking, sloshing movement, but its not discerning you from riding. As if you're gilding over the ground! I find this one of the most significant moments. The exact moment I know that I'm 100% in control.
If loving this is wrong, I don't wanna be right. Just breathless, and spiritual. If there is a God, and I believe there is, He rides like this on weekends. Thanks for sharing your talents!
Epic.....one of the best two stroke vids I have seen. The fact it is on a 300 is the icing on the cake! Adam Riemann you have done a cracking job with this 👍
This is one of my all time favorite videos. Excellently done. I do find it interesting though that you hand it off to Mr Price to show it's good for motocross too even though that's not what he's known for
If you were wondering what he said: Your welcome :D The power of 2 stroke Engineering, the perfect partnership between physics and design A tangible record of man's greatest achievements Perfected with technology, build to enjoy the test of time The world is alternate by these creations, some assist the way of live some promote our demands Engineering is a complex mysterious and ingenious idea brought to live by inventions Machine's used to build machine's Some have limited purpose superseded by a new idea But every so often that idea becomes an mechanical masterpiece One that cannot be surpassed and cannot be made redundant by a new design The 2-stroke engine one such masterpiece, its power-weight ratio is superior 30% higher than the equivalent capacity 4-stroke Its naturally aspirated, needing no assistant from a accelerator pump or fuel injection It achieves a full power cycle with just 2 strokes of its piston, induction, compression, combustion, exhaust Their are no valves controlling each fase, instead the piston reveals exhaust and intake ports set in the lower half of the cilinder The piston travels up the cylinder as a syringe drawing air and fuel into the crankcase though a one way read valve Its an organic exchange of vacuum and pressure as the piston puts fuel and air in the cylinder Intake ports direct the fresh charge to the cylinder head while combusted gas is venting simultaneously trough the exhaust port At 10000rpm the spark plug ignites 166 contained explosions of power every second A 2-stroke achieves this rate of combustion thanks to the exhaust shaped like a musical cylinder It uses the sound waves to the minute from combustion and reflects them back to the exhaust port to momentarly reverse the of gas This forces escaping fuel-air mixture into the cylinder which supercharges the cylinder at higher rpm A 2-stroke reaches maximum power when the returning sound wave hits the exhaust port at the exact moment of combustion This is when it hits that magic note This is when a 2-stroke is on the path There's no other engine like it, there's nothing like 2-stroke power And there's really nothing like the power of sound
this video nearly made me cry. first 2 bikes were 2T (and ancient old Yamaha MX100 and a DT175 that was new back in the 90s when i had it), i miss them so bad. My 2T road bike (RGV250) is broken. I need a KTM enduro to add to the garage (currently RGV250, CBR250RR, CBR600RR and CBR1000RR), but dirt bikes were my first 2 bikes as a kid. this video is a regular...
I have been just watching some shit about electric cars and I couldn't handle people that are so exited about future... Sound of 2 stroke makes happy and sorry for the next generations that are going to miss this sound :D Eventhought I ride 4-stroke
The 2 stroke will be around for a long time to come yet mate don't worry that's why Ktm are still developing them more and more there so clean now and will only get better
not really....i always took off in second gear in my old 1992 rm250. The only time I would take off in 1st gear would be if there was a huge hill upcoming that I had to get over
Yes I own a ktm 300mxc and damn the power it puts down is insane... i tried launching in second once and i wasn't really expecting it to behave like it did took off and almost instantly went into powerband. Big thanks to the guy who jetted it before i bought it xD
Cool spot from 8-9 mins disappearing into the verbs into the creek. This vid has some awesome shots Australia I think where this is filmed looks like a cool place to ride!
Fantastic! You have my dream job even my 2yr old son watchers your vids every night before bed he loves the 2 strokes great vids, friends, and entertainment keep up the good work
I love how they own that bike, not the other way around! Every move they make is an expression of their souls and the 2 stroke let's them cleanse their souls everytime they throw their leg over one for a pent up, WICKED RIP! They ride with no fear, taking that engine and bike to it's max, every time they ride. If you listen close, you can hear the engine thanking them for letting it stretch its legs, hear it's voice, when they're, ON THE PIPE!
Working my way back through your older stuff. KTM Exc 300 oh yeah! What a weapon! My mates and I use to go play on our bikes in the off season from racing Caterham 7s. My mate Andy had the 300Exc (Big fella) and I had the 200Exc (Avg. fella) - the memories of those bikes, the sound of them on full tilt, and the shit we got up to, still makes me smile to this day! ...that's it, you've gone and done it, I need a 2-stroke in the garage again. AND I'm telling my wife Adam made me do it. P.S. You shot this 10yrs ago? The shots and the way you put the footage together. Wow! Stunning! As always more power to you.
fantastic filming ,love the way the suspension is re valved and set up, great riding too, thanks for taking time out to show us all how its done , cheers
Decade later and I still love this comment. Who would have known how much they held value or increased. I miss dirt bikes and looking at 300exc but I'd be using more on road so I didn't purchase (actually it was the te300 25 husky that got my attention after seeing someone riding on road holding same speed and engine was Smooth AF
I agree, there's nothing like the 2 stroke engine, the simplicity of it yet the complexity of getting the gases back to the piston from the exhaust at exactly the right moment.
When I viewed this last year it sealed the deal. My mate has always said get a 2 stroke they're quicker in the dingle line trails etc. he was right. Best decision I've made. 2013 300. Only downside, she's thirsty. I love it though. What a smell!!!
keiannschyler and it's completely unnecessary. The BRAAAAAAAAAAAP is ALL THAT IS REQUIRED FOR SOUND. Outa here, to look for what is required for proper audio in a video ;)
crazty he cruises right over what for my skill level i would consider a super difficult/impassible obstacle, but these documentaries about two strokes are awesome! makes me want one of those enduro ktms lol
53. Just bought a 2011 KTM 300. Last time I owned a 2 stroke was 35 years ago. So much time wasted. So many hills and ricks waiting to be owned. Lts gooooooo!!
This video is the best I've seen on the whole of TH-cam to date. It has the perfect mix of skill showcasing, mechanical knowledge, inspiration, and epic progression. I feel guilty that I haven't payed to watch it.
Finally I've been waiting for over 10 years for someone on TH-cam to finally explain exactly how a two-cycle engine operates.. this is the first time anybody has ever got it right... It was explaining to me by a man by the name of Pop Yoshimura.. as he had designed and built the Honda Elsinore... He was our instructor at Honda's R&D service School in Milwaukee Wisconsin... As they said two-stroke engines are self supercharging engines that's why you will never ever make the same horsepower out of a naturally aspirated four-stroke engine of the same size. Just remember two strokes make boost 4 strokes suck
they just look more fun, what is exc what the xc what the xc-w. i take 2 stroke over 4 stroke any day the lightness of the bike, the sound of it, the power band. in pa you can title 300 2 stroke for street KTM only is allowed to do that why that is i have no idea maybe KTM make less bike so they allow the smaller amount of bikes to be titled for the street. I just learned by accident, i had DRZ400 but at that time i thought it was like race bike i didn't know it make barely 30hp and weighed a considerable amount more then race dirt bike. Also Yamana does still make 2 stroke but before 2006 they all made them, but you can't title Yamaha 2 stroke in pa plus Id rather own KTM anyways it princeton's colors orange bright orange.
I can second that, my Yamaha DT125R feels pretty powerful although it has only about 22hp. 50hp feels insane on a lightweight dirtbike. Even a 68hp 300kg Yamaha Bulldog 1100 feels quick because it's light compared to the power :) My top 3 in 2-strokes are: 1. SOUND 2. POWERBAND 3 SMELL
Sir, you are gnarly. I can believe that I waited this long to subscribe. Your videos are on another level. I love my xcf four stoke but after watching your video, I want a two stroke. Thanks. Be safe

FichDichInDemArsch Riders don't argue about which is better. Riders ride. Nerds on the internet argue and insult either over which type of engine the other prefers...
FichDichInDemArsch I'm very passionate about 4Ts, but I respect 2T riders and calling someone a "spineless faggot" isn't banter. Only idiots are brand loyal/engine loyal. I would have never known the power of a Kawasaki two stroke if I hadn't ridden one. Brand/engine loyal people are very narrow minded. 450 4 strokes are my choice of bike but I respect a 300 XC for it's massive power.
FichDichInDemArsch Yes, I love 85cc 2 strokes and 125 2 strokes, but I also love the CRF150r (fast as hell) and the CRF250r... I love all dirtbikes, two stroke or four stroke, and will ride whatever I can sit on. Of course, as far as me buying bikes goes, I only own two dirtbikes and they are a CRF450x and a CRF150r, so I guess you could call me a four stroke guy.
balls deep Line me up ;) I'm not one that likes to argue on the internet, my bike speaks for itself. Your YZ do fourth gear wheelies? My 150r, albeit it bored stroked and cammed, will eat up YZ125s so I doubt your 85 has a chance.
I enjoy all your videos, but the shots, editing, music, and theme make this my favorite one: pure passion and excitement! What a lot of hard work went into its making!
Wow .. I still keep coming back to this. Its been ... 8yrs? Still the best 2 stroke dirtbike video for me. ☺️
Your intro to the two-stroke engine was fantastic. Really well written/said.
Still coming back after many years, one of my favorite videos and that intro gives me goosebumps.
This video still gives me goosebumps after all these years, that intro is amazing 👌
Same i miss my bike

i get a adrenaline rush just watching the video, glad to see someone else has this kind of passion and understands it.
I've watched this video so many times. And I swear its always like watching it for the first time. Adam, you have a great blend. K
A huge package of epicness was built into that video. And very talented riders, too.
I saw this short movie for the first time when I was 14. STILL MY FAVORITE after 7 years.
I respect the person who took the time in making this video. It's awesome
That was by far one of the best videos of a 300exc.
This dude make some of the best films. A lot of time and energy went into this. So us regular people can enjoy watching what we hope to ride like.
best 10 minutes of my life!
I must agree, the awesomeness overwhelmed me!
Epic.....one of the best two stroke vids I have seen. The fact it is on a 300 is the icing on the cake! Adam Riemann you have done a cracking job with this 👍
Me quito el sombrero, aplausos. El prologo es fantástico, las imagenes impresionantes, la banda y la composición sonora increiblea. ¡Aplausos de pié!

This is the greatest 2 stroke video i've ever seen!... no doubt'
If you were wondering what he said: Your welcome :D
The power of 2 stroke
Engineering, the perfect partnership between physics and design
A tangible record of man's greatest achievements
Perfected with technology, build to enjoy the test of time
The world is alternate by these creations, some assist the way of live some promote our demands
Engineering is a complex mysterious and ingenious idea brought to live by inventions
Machine's used to build machine's
Some have limited purpose superseded by a new idea
But every so often that idea becomes an mechanical masterpiece
One that cannot be surpassed and cannot be made redundant by a new design
The 2-stroke engine one such masterpiece, its power-weight ratio is superior 30% higher than the equivalent capacity 4-stroke
Its naturally aspirated, needing no assistant from a accelerator pump or fuel injection
It achieves a full power cycle with just 2 strokes of its piston, induction, compression, combustion, exhaust
Their are no valves controlling each fase, instead the piston reveals exhaust and intake ports set in the lower half of the cilinder
The piston travels up the cylinder as a syringe drawing air and fuel into the crankcase though a one way read valve
Its an organic exchange of vacuum and pressure as the piston puts fuel and air in the cylinder
Intake ports direct the fresh charge to the cylinder head while combusted gas is venting simultaneously trough the exhaust port
At 10000rpm the spark plug ignites 166 contained explosions of power every second
A 2-stroke achieves this rate of combustion thanks to the exhaust shaped like a musical cylinder
It uses the sound waves to the minute from combustion and reflects them back to the exhaust port to momentarly reverse the of gas
This forces escaping fuel-air mixture into the cylinder which supercharges the cylinder at higher rpm
A 2-stroke reaches maximum power when the returning sound wave hits the exhaust port at the exact moment of combustion
This is when it hits that magic note
This is when a 2-stroke is on the path
There's no other engine like it, there's nothing like 2-stroke power
And there's really nothing like the power of sound
Not enjoy but endure the test of time
a real psalm 4 the 2STRKs!... a loooong one, but inspired with beauty
Best 2 stroke video I've came across.
this video changed my life!
This video is awesome, I love two strokes! Both of those riders are extremely skilled, I can't imagine anyone disliking this video.
If this video were an hour and a half long, I would watch, and enjoy every second of it.
Did ya like the music? Fuk.
I swear I hope I get to be as good as you one day. been only riding for 1 year and everytime I watch your videos, it is like an inspiration to me!

Awesome riding, awesome footage, this is how every vid on youtube should be. Two strokes rule the world!
342 people havent rode a 2 stroke yet!
and nobody is racing supercross with 2 strokes either!!!!! I love 2 smokers but that comment had flaws.
***** its all just revenue and emissions problems, companys make more money from 4 strokes. far more to improve on
emissions problems are caused by government separate issue.
Just did today for the first time! Love it
Enduro Rider was it hard?
Its poetry, engineering poetry! Excellent text Riemann!
damn I'm madly in love with this KTM

@@BurtoniMotors i have the same bike, im scared to ride it coz im a pussy. it does 200km/h wtf... its just a dirt bike.
Nothing beats the sound of a larger 2stroke on full noise! Great vid and as soon as I can afford it again I think its time to go back to a 2 banger!!!
@7:42 the dude launched out in 2nd gear. Lots of power for the rider to have been able to do that.
algo fine!
not really....i always took off in second gear in my old 1992 rm250. The only time I would take off in 1st gear would be if there was a huge hill upcoming that I had to get over
yea but that's a 250cc, 2-stroke, moto-x bike. For those of us limited to 200cc, 4-stroke enduros, the 1st gear is there for a reason, lol.
o shit ya 4-stroke.....sry to hear that

I love this vid! I love 2 strokes! I don't dislike a 4 stroke, but its nice too see someone of your caliber putting the truth out there!
To epic, almost died during 2 stroke intro.
I have "only" 200 exc but what a machine it is. 2 stroke 4ever!!!! This video is such a motivation.....love it.
2 strokes are the most fun you can have with a motorbike.
Cool spot from 8-9 mins disappearing into the verbs into the creek. This vid has some awesome shots Australia I think where this is filmed looks like a cool place to ride!
more 2stroke sound, less music!!!
I watched this video when you first posted it, just came across it again. probably the best dirt bike video I've seen. well done!!!!

Um dos sons mais bonitos que já ouvi, os 4 T são comuns, os 2T fazem o coração acelerar mais forte!!!
Every time I need some motivation to ride. I’m go to watch this video and boost my mind! Best 2 stroke video ever ✊
so I'm thinking a 300 kit for the old 250
the hardest thing about riding a 4 stroke is telling your mum your gay, 2 strokes 4 life!

when this guy was talking about the engine it sounded like some sort of engineering porno
I agree, there's nothing like the 2 stroke engine, the simplicity of it yet the complexity of getting the gases back to the piston from the exhaust at exactly the right moment.
There's nothing like a two stroke bike.

Emotionally these films are savagely heartfelt!! Immaculate inspirations! 🤘
No denying 2-strokes. The advertisements have gone into todays peoples heads, thats why there are so many 4 jokes :)
they just look more fun, what is exc what the xc what the xc-w. i take 2 stroke over 4 stroke any day the lightness of the bike, the sound of it, the power band. in pa you can title 300 2 stroke for street KTM only is allowed to do that why that is i have no idea maybe KTM make less bike so they allow the smaller amount of bikes to be titled for the street. I can second that, my Yamaha DT125R feels pretty powerful although it has only about 22hp.
50hp feels insane on a lightweight dirtbike. Even a 68hp 300kg Yamaha Bulldog 1100 feels quick because it's light compared to the power :)
My top 3 in 2-strokes are:
1. SOUND
2. POWERBAND
3 SMELL
It feels, but it is not. ¤ stroke rocks!
Maybe it's the torque, 125cc 25nm@7k
You need a 250 or 300cc 4-stroke to get that torque so low :)
The EPA killed the 2 stroke trail bikes in the USA!
Toby Price!!!!!!!!! So grateful he is doing so well again. Fantastic video, There really is nothing like a well tuned 2smoke tapped out. subbed
9:29 revvin' hard
a two-stroke motocross is just pure music to my ears
We couldn't actually hear the bike most of the time...
agree.. to much dramatic music playing
Lol, that why I disliked, your gonna make a video about the "power of sound" and then dub an orchestra over it? Get it together.
+Colton Baldridge sometimes when your out riding in the bush, things don't sound the way it should it sound
referencing the exhaust system that gives you the power in a 2 stroke
Great video guys. I own both a 2t and a 4t and and 2 banger will always hold that special place in my heart.
The background music defeats the entire purpose of allowing us to hear the sound of the engine in all it's beauty!
Sir, you are gnarly. I can believe that I waited this long to subscribe. Your videos are on another level. I love my xcf four stoke but after watching your video, I want a two stroke. Thanks. Be safe

Some of the best riding I have ever seen.
Try 500 exc Dude !
Must be awesome to look back on this and see Price become the first Aussie to win the Dakar! With KTM too!
4t>2t...
FailsAndFights crf150's are slow as fuck my old yz85 use to eat them up.
balls deep Line me up ;) I'm not one that likes to argue on the internet, my bike speaks for itself. Your YZ do fourth gear wheelies? My 150r, albeit it bored stroked and cammed, will eat up YZ125s so I doubt your 85 has a chance.
I will never get bored of watching your videos mate. Keep up the good work
2 strokes make a horrible sound
agreed!
+bruhh ! FUCK OFF U DUMB ASS
Irrigardless their the greatest engine ever made
Irrigardless their the greatest engine ever made
Irrigardless their the greatest engine ever made
I enjoy all your videos, but the shots, editing, music, and theme make this my favorite one: pure passion and excitement! What a lot of hard work went into its making!
yeah but 4 strokes sounds 100000 times better this
Anton Markov 2 stroke will beat 4 stroke any day I'd like to see a 4 stroke do the stuff on this video
David Mcrae never said anything different.
I ride a thumper but I'll quite happily admit you can't be the sweet sound of 30,000 angry bumble bees waiting to be let loose
2 strokes sound better
No.
