When I was in Manhattan one morning, and walking down the street. I happened to see Nick Ashford. I was on the opposite side of the street. I waved good morning to him and he waved back. That is one of my most cherished memories.
This is honestly the first time I've ever heard them sing! And wow, I'm blown away! Ive seen them in other singers interviews but never heard them sing myself! They are so underrated. They can sang! It makes you wonder why people like them were overshadow by other people because they had talent too.
Valerie Simpson is the most underrated vocalist of all time.Still get chills at the end of the film Welcome Back Charleston Blue,at her duet with Donny Hathaway. We are God's people!
Agreed. She can 'yell', belt it out....without yelling. The best "whoa oh oh's" ever. But Nick is even more underrated....he has the macho voice combined with the 10-octaves-up a split-second later....but he does it like it's nothing. Like it's 2nd-nature, from the heart.
Yes they are absolutely gorgeous. In the next life, I would like to marry that fiiiiiine Nick Ashford. I thank this couple for the music. LOL, BLESSINGS ❤❤🙏🙏🙏
love it. they blended the two versions of the song. this writing duo are probably the most underappreciated. they wrote some of the great classics of all time.
Great to finally hear these wonderful composers finally get to sing their own material. As they performed more, their vocals tightened up a lot more. David Sandborn's sexy sax solo really adds punch to this performance. I can see why Valerie is NOT willing to let their earlier Motown guide vocal masters get released, as she has stated that Nick Ashford hadn't developed his vocal chops to the point that he did later, and she doesn't want to lesson his legacy. I totally respect Valerie's decision. However, this is the beginning of their legacy as singers Thank you so much for sharing!
Much respect to Marvin and Tammi but Nicholas and Valerie murdered this track beautifully. Like this is my first time hearing this version and I'm like omg this is awesome!! They got me in here doing all kinds of sound effects like oooh, ahhh, geeeeze, I can't even try to spell whatever I was saying lol
Remember that really powerful pop song they did Solid.I never knew they were that far back when they did this song for Motown.Mind you when they did Solid Psychedellic Jefferson Starship did Built this City and they were at Woodstock.
Honestly yall🤔. I have ALWAYS thought that Nick is what Jesus really looked like, all my life. They just changed his hair and eye color. Really, Memphis, 10
the Dutton family Bluegrass group made a version of this song not as good as this one as far as I am concerned this should be the only version why the remakes cannot compare

I JUST learned they wrote this song🎵 , amongst others 🤯!!
so wonderful...
I wish they did a remaster on this song from the 80s because it's too iconic! There's more bass and groove than in the '67 version
Love you so much!
The just Fused effortlessly. Wow! Real music is dead. This is how we felt in love in the 80's...
Victor Moses the real music still here
@@oholm09 can't agree more : Vulfpeck, Jacob Collier, Pomplamoose, knower, dirty loops, JD Beck and DOMi, pentatonix, Snarky Puppy...
OMG, I love this.
2019 classics live on and on and ...

The Ross treatment is so iconic everything else pales.......
He never seems to change his hair style.
I love Cepheus and Reesie!!
Rip nick
That was Saturday Night Live!! A young Dave Sandborn on sax
No I think it's later with jools Holland
@@tomd9307 later with jools started in 1992
Valerie certainly had the voice,Nic not so much but they complimented each other.
Honestly yall🤔. I have ALWAYS thought that Nick is what Jesus really looked like, all my life. They just changed his hair and eye color. Really, Memphis, 10
Reverend Oates sangin' his butt off!!
not as good as mad tv you are the one i love
And a very young David Sanborn on the sax.
They did it the only way it should be sung, the Tammi and Marvin way.
💜☄️
I love Karaoke...

Cepheus and Reesie.
that's what I was waiting to see. LOL.
Who’s playing sax 🎷
No disrespect Nick Ashford but I always thought he looked like a lion with that hair style. Love Ashford and Simpson. RIP to Nick!
monique 45 I thought he looked nice loved his hair
I know what you mean but creatives tend to be eccentric and thrive on uniqueness.
He's the tamer version of Julius Carry (Sho Nuff).
Tall, Tan, Mega-talented, Slender, and Fine as exquisite champagne equals my definition of Mr. NICK ASHFORD ♥
god gives you a mountain to climb or a cliff to fall over
No Marcus Miller on that one. I must admit I’ve never heard Marcus play anything old style : James Jamerson / Babbit / Chuck Rainey / Jemmott
the Dutton family Bluegrass group made a version of this song not as good as this one as far as I am concerned this should be the only version why the remakes cannot compare
Marvin Gaye and Tammy Terrell made it before Nick and Val...💃🏻👍🏻
