    When I'm using hot air near FPC or other connectors, I often place a leftover shield from previous repairs over top of it to protect it from the heat. It works really well as long as you make sure it's not in contact with other solder joints that it might accidentally get soldered to.

      Aluminium tape is really good at heat reflection, never use kapton tape now.

      @@narha_syd Nope, kapton is heat resistant, not a heat shield. In other words it tolerates heat but doesn't deflect it.

      @benjamindoko2356 ปีที่แล้ว

      It looks easy but trust me you need a lot of patience and experience to be skilled as Alex so it looks easy when he is douing this.

    • @mike-ology22
      @mike-ology22 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @kissszilard4220 half of the job is having the right tools. Use an old board to practice on. Remove all parts and reinstall them. Then, work on an item that does work. Pull it apart, and desolder all the parts on it. Resolder them. That will be my method.
      I would start with charging ports on tablets and mobile phones. I have 2 xbox controllers I want to pull apart and sort out the two joysticks.
      You will never get any better if you don't try. I had ideas on how to diagnose problems with a thermal camera to see where it gets hot. Little things like that, just using the right tools and common sense. Using alcohol too is a great idea, I didn't think of that.
      So I've learned a lot and impassioned enough to try. By no means will I be as good as Alex

    In this kind of job where you need to open the metal cover for the chips. Is it ok if we leave the board without the metal cover again? Seems like the metal cover does nothing like doing some heatsink functions. I feel like opening the chip would make better heat dissipation.

    Hello, really nice video :) I love watching those fixes.
    This reminds me of a question that I have, but I don't have any friends that could help me IRL so I might just ask you if you have a minute to spare to give me an idea on my task.
    I have 2 SSHD hard drives. One of them is broken and the disk inside does not spin. It contains drawings of a friend of mine, and he needs them because he wants to present them at a Job interview.
    I got not exactly the same, but a pretty similar hard drive with a matching board.
    I tried to swap the boards, and I can hear that the disc inside spins, but I still don't get it to work. I've read that I should switch the bios chip as well, but I've never done that before and I want to be sure if that's what needs to be done.
    Could you please give me some advice? I've uploaded pictures of both hard drives, the new and the old one and they can be found here : imgur.com/a/jo8lfnL
    I would really appreciate your help :)
