Man it’s terrifying when it happens. My rottie stared at me 24/7 I was his entire life and once even he didn’t recognize me. I was wearing a black jacket and came home late at night and as I walked up the driveway he came charging towards the fence snarling his head off.
It was fine he was behind a gate and then looked very upset with himself when he realized it was me. He gave lots of apology kisses. Miss him.

My GSD would bark at my brother in the dark as he came home from work. Aggressively. Thinking it's an intruder. He started to catch his smell and looked like he felt rly sorry lol.

Rottweilers are the best protection and biggest cuddlers too! My Rottweiler is a service dog, trained for so much and he’s super chill. However, when Covid started, a man stepped out of a clothes rack right next to us to talk to me, and Baron Barked! I was shocked and apologized and took him for more training, but it was the face masks! He doesn’t like them because he’s very tuned in to peoples expressions. He deals with them fine now, but he always looks for a minute to see what the person is thinking. Some dogs don’t like hats, hoodies etc, it’s good to be careful.😂

I used to walk during lunch every day near work at lunchtime. There was this dog in a house behind a wall that would bark once and only once as I walked by. That one bark would make my heart race, although I knew it was coming. I don't know the kind of dog it was, but this dog here sounds pretty tame and small compared to that one.

I said "It's just me buddy" and all was well. Good advice to talk to your powerful breed dogs to let them know it's ok, rather than find out the hard way. But it's also good to know that when the time comes, they are ready to go to work 👍

It’s made me realize that no matter the breed sometimes it’s the individual personality that determines how a dog will respond. I had even begun to wonder if I socialized him to well as he absolutely loves ALL people and animals. He has NO PREY DRIVE. Squirrels run past and he doesn’t even blink! Yup - this man is talking absolute sense. I've experienced this first hand, when I returned home after 6 months wearing winter clothes, and came in through the back door to surprise everyone. I'll never do that again. She got a good grip of my arm and started shaking. I had to shout really loud. Everyone came out to calm her down. Even when I came back from the hospital, and entered with family members, she started growling until I used some words that she was familiar with me using. She's a very protective dog; a Black Mouth Cur breed. She feels super guilty, and keeps licking my face and wagging her tail.

I had a French Bordeaux when I was in highschool~ He was the biggest and sweetest boy with the chunkiest head, was super chill, very well socialized and when he was affectionate towards you it felt like you did something right.
One day my mom accidently locked herself out of the house when I wasn't home and had to push in the AC to get in. Blaze, said sweetest boy who only ever used his mammoth paws to push our other dogs out of the way when they annoyed him, almost jumped out the window at her. Luckily he recognized her and skidded to a stop, but it could've been pretty bad if he hadn't. 160+ lbs of protective instinct is nooooo joke.
He passed away due to health complications before I graduated, but I could never ever forget how sweet he was, even if he wasn't as in-your-face with it as my other dog Akkaina.

Bro your channel is amazing. I got myself a corso pup female she’s 10 months old and your channel taught me so much even though I spent most of my life with dogs and never relied on a trainer because I do it myself and have an enjoyable time doing it . This short video for example shows why my corso acts the way she does when I come back at unusual times 😂 . I had pits and bullies for close to 20 years and they bark constantly at any sound , but corso barks when it’s more important for your safety kind of . Like when there’s a more reason to announce “ I see you and you’re getting closer “ rather than “ omg someone walked passed our house 300 ft away , wake up “ pitbull mentality 😂

Never had a pro trained dog, but my rescue GSDs have been wonderful. I stopped for gas when 2 men tried to open my car doors at a gas station. Next to my infant daughter in the back seat, was my GSD Megan. She came up with a low growl, went for the men, they slammed the doors, I drove away. My neighbors plumbing truck was being broken into at 2 am. Our GSD, Reg, tore out of the house. The 3 men ran, but Reg got to them and ripped the back pocket off one before they got into their truck. Reg found 2 sets of lost keys, and my now GSD has located a wallet for someone-it was dropped into the grass-Ben went to it and sat down-he wouldn't budge until I saw the wallet and picked it up. The owner was a disabled man who really needed the money back. Many more instances-best dog ever-GSD

Whenever I came home from work, I whistle from a few feet away from our yard. Whistling helps my dogs be alerted that I'm home. Seeing them get excited from hearing my whistle makes a hard work day worth it

We have a Malinois mix and I came home very late at night once and didn't turn on the lights and he was growling so hard and all the fur on the back of his neck stood up. Won't be making that mistake again. Excellent advice! I've learned so much from your videos!

This is 💯 percent true, I have a bullmastiff puppy at my home and he is just 4 months old and one day my mom was standing next to the Door with her back facing the door, I just reached home from my office and i sneaked up behind to scare her in a playful manner and suddenly my bullmastiff puppy started to bark with all his hairs puffed up and he calmed down only when I gently tried to make him understand that it was me and such guarding instinct from the very young age of 4 months really suprised me and he was like full beast mode on that day

One time I came in the back door cuz I locked myself out, my dog was ready! Lol I have to admit I was proud at how well she protected our home. As soon as she realized it was me she chilled out, but God help anyone else intruding on a pitbulls home.

Absolutely- this is a great video! It's not the dog's fault, you gotta be aware of how they perceive you. My dogs need me to announce myself too. Seen many people not do this and get very very hurt.

Good advice. Ppl think their superior sense of smell instantly informs dogs who it is but I've also observed that it doesn't necessarily kick in instantaneously like we'd imagine it would...

My GSD mix is losing her hearing and sight. We definitely have to give her more space/time to recognize us during moments like the ones you share. This video is such a good reminder. Tonight, she barked at me when I walked in the house, then was immediately embarrassed.
