  • These thick, punchy voicings are great for almost any occasion. Three notes in the left, three notes in the right (an octave and a note in the middle) and you get these rootless spread voicings.

The wealth of voicings I get from you, Adam, is astonishing.

You are the best teacher on the web, I understand you perfectly and my language is not English (I am using a translator to write). Thank you for your contribution.

Thanks Adam - great video and material! I have a question though: Could you please explain a little more about the logic of inversions you do? As I see it, you invert the spread voicings so that the bottom notes in the left and right hand follow the chord tones? And you sort of build up the chord from there. Right?

Hi. Help me with measure 11 of the PDF, labeled as Cminor 7. There is no F in a C minor 7. What am I missing? Thanks. Great lesson.

F is the 11th of C Minor 7, it is called the extension. Play the following C Eb G Bb which is C Minor 7, now keep stacking thirds on top. So after the Bb put a D and then F on top. A lot of times in jazz we play extensions on the chords. You’ll often see Minor 11 chords.
