I'm not sure what recordings some people are listening to but I've still got a cassette recording of the radio broadcast from Swinton's winning performance at the 1989 British Open (Ken Bruce is the compare) and this is definitely the same one with Gary Lord on sop with the extra long last note in the second movement and Steve Walker on solo trom rattling the double tonguing in on the last movement.
Thanks for placing it right 🥰 the Fairey win from RAH from 1986 and this is often mixed up. Here is a link to the Fairey win from the Nationals Diversions, Op. 97 (1986 NATIONALS) - Fairey Engineering th-cam.com/video/VZK6PRr6b-E/w-d-xo.html
It’s 100% the 1986 Faireys performance from the Albert Hall, albeit speeded up slightly. I was at the both contests and I bought the cassette tape of the Faireys performance in 1987. E.g Figure 9, cornet top g click. Three bars before 5, flugel misses a couple of notes. Last note of the piece etc etc etc. ALL of the tiny clicks (which don’t detract the fantastic faireys performance) are identical throughout. I would like to hear a recording of the Kennedys performance if there is actually one out there? But you should really remove this because it’s Faireys. both were great performances btw.

I'm pretty sure this isn't the Swinton Performance but the 1986 Fairey Performance from the RAH
We got Swinton confirmed by Garry Cutt. It should be the real deal
Here´s the one you are refering to Mike :) th-cam.com/video/VZK6PRr6b-E/w-d-xo.html
This certainly is Swinton. I was playing on it.
It's much quicker than the Fairey/Newsome combo
Indeed you were Len..superb musician. I was so lucky to have played my part also ! Super show ! A fine Band and Garry Cutt bloody Marvellous!

Agreed, this is 100% Faireys.
