Idk why on solely the jumbo, the MG port is like and ammo box, whilst in the German and Soviet tanks it’s like half the worlds steel condensed into a single spot

That's depends on tank. Tiger 2 and Panthers have very weak mg port
Pretty sure because the Germans and Soviets probably purpose built heavy tanks. The Jumbo is basically a normal Sherman with another plate welded on top, so the mg doesn't get any extra armor
its more that with volumetric MG ports are extremely hard to hit, and with most other tanks there are better weakpots to aim for.

Untrue.
The Jumbo was built as an infantry support tank that was meant to counter ATRs, RPGs, All Pz.IV variants, all early Panthers, and the early King Tigers. It was built with defense in mind, thats why the 75 Jumbo rarely ever saw direct service.

British have APDS at 5.3 and onwards so they don't care about Jumbo

Except that 8 or 9 times out of 10 this doesn’t actually work, because the shell glances off the side of the MG barrel and is counted as a ricochet, which then causes the shell to evaporate as soon as it hits armor plate, because apparently it dumped all its energy into bouncing off 5mm of gun steel which changed its trajectory by less than 1°.
It happens to every tank where the MG in the port is modeled as a physical piece of the tank, instead of just a texture with no collision on top of the MG port. Unless the MG doesn’t have collision, getting through the port requires extreme luck and isn’t reliable.
What are you on about, when I'm fighting other jumbos from other nations, even in my own, that is one of the easiest and only places to fire at from the front, only unskilled players can't manage to fire at that weakspot
@@llaammeerr2506 Unless you hit the muzzle of the MG dead on and “penetrate” the MG itself, or unless you can get lucky and miss the MG barrel while only hitting the port behind it, it doesn’t work reliably. If the MG is angled at all, and you hit the side of the barrel at around an 85° angle, the round will ricochet off the gun barrel, because the MG is modeled as 5mm of gun steel “armor” and so the shell has hit “armor” at an angle that’s high enough that it’s guaranteed to ricochet. Once it’s ricocheted, it loses a vast majority of its penetrating power, and so when it hits the armor plate behind the MG it doesn’t have enough energy to penetrate it anymore. This isn’t a “skill issue,” this a “the game doesn’t work properly” issue. Shot-traps that should be a major weak point on tanks like the Tiger II (P) don’t work reliably either for this same reason, because the game makes round that have ricocheted dump a vast majority of their energy.

How *I* usually destroy the jumbo; it gets uptiered to 7.0 and i just go right through the front plate! Good job gaijin. Tbh i feel bad for jumbo players. 6.3 for the 76 version is a little high. Kudos to all the jumbo players out there
Yeah, it should be on 5.7 or at max 6.0 but most players have no sense of aim. Tanks like the Jumbo forces players to take out proper TDs, which is really good from a gameplay standpoint since it gives purpose to take out that Nashorn even if you'll be strafed by a plane after a minute or two.

While having more pen than the Jumbo 76, they excuse is the "armor" but guess what? 2 Jadgpanthers at 6.0 and Russia has a fricking KV-220 at 5.7 which yes is premium and probably never coming back, but holy f*ck Gaijin. The sense of balance in this game is absolute dogsh*t, but this game is full of dads who will trash talk ww2 era being full of Copy Paste vehicles while paying 80$ for the same modern vehicle, but with a letter "E" at the end of the name.
@@Haaton-of-the-Basement the sherman cannot frontal pen any enemy tank and in the right conditions can be frontally penned by all the enemies, and if that's not enough the mg port hit box is gigantic, but don't worry, you can shoot the enemy barrel and then his tracks (which means you have to be almost twice as good as the enemy) so you call kill them, but I'll take you aproximately 5 shots and having to walk out of your cover and then die to the enemies' backup, yet germans and Russians complain the sherman is OP
@@AdrianOkay I'm starting to believe the reason US tree has such unnecessary balance decisions is due to how good they players are. The Jumbo 76 at 6.3 The T26E5 (which is basically a Tiger II P but slightly worse) being moved up to 6.7 and Sherman 76 W at 5.7 are prime examples of not wanting US mains to dominate the lil kids.
Germany is made for kids and Russia has the bias. All im gonna say.

Aside from the ring accuracy the jumbo would also face tanks from napkin drawings most of the time with guns that would make the jumbo's armor swiss cheese. (And arty too)

@@denislavventsislavov2078 In game, you can penetrate the transmission area since its 130mm thick, though the tranny will absorb most of the shot.
In reality, the Jumbo's 63+25mm welded plates doesn't give the same thickness as a full 101mm plate, and thus spalls when hit by Tiger 1's 88mm. With the heavy toll on morale Sherman crews face just by the mere fact that they're facing a Tiger I, they would overplay this as a penetration when reporting back to command, even if the Jumbo was adequately armored to tank several hits at actual tank battle ranges (~2km). The Tigerphobia was real in ww2.

Also, if there's a jumbo blindly rushing you, you can take out one of the tracks to make it turn, showing the side armor that is extremely weak around the tracks.

I just use the sturmpanzer II to obliterate the Jumbos. The engine is relatively quiet so they don't notice be sneaking up.

The turret used by the jumbo its only for the jumbo, no other sherman variant use... The turrets used by the long 76 is really different + they actually have a long barrel

The Italian Firefly has that same APDS with 230mm of pen at 5.0.
When I started playing British tanks, I love the APDS shells. The Comet I that I had was a great tank.

I usually play them, that does the trick. I die everytime. Of course when I’m on the opposite end I try to hit the MG port frontally, but that is still a crap shoot whether it’s going to hit the exact spot it needs to as it’s such a tiny spot.

sometimes, its hard to shoot at mg port so i usually move to the side after disable the enemy track (talk about enemy friendly come at the right timing to help him) ( shoot mg port - waste time unless sharpshooter) ( differ by situations)

Whenever I use the jumbo I just cover the MG port with bushy bois,never have been killed from the front again
Cupola shot also works if you can get them to stop moving

this is for german mains mostly,mainly becuse of the tiger thing yknow,i do main germany sometimes but i know how to angle and how to kill a jumbo without getting its tracks

Jumbo players get too confident with that frontal plate. One of my favorite moments was in a Panzer IV H and this Jumbo player was pinning several guys. So I got as close as I could, bounced a smoke grenade off him. He got engulfed and before he knew it, I got around him and side shot him into flames. Don't get into a slugging match unless you're in a Churchill, KV or you know how to angle a Tiger. 9 times out of 10 you're going to be more mobile than the Jumbo, so use that to your advantage.
Lol yesterday i shot a jumbo at like 700meters in the weak spot with an ebr 1951 (the one who has 91 mm of pen)

The soviet D-5T canon ca penetrate through the frontal plate, and the 152 mm cuts right through
88mm Kwk 36 can't penetrate it but somehow magical Russian 85 with much less pen can.These Russian APHE slope modifiers are pretty generous tbh.

Do one about "how to kill IS tanks". I found it ridiculously easy to just shoot their commander's cupola, and as long as your round has a filler, it would detonate directly above the commander, killing the rest of the crew as well. Probably a bit of a ghastly thing to do, if you think about it, but these things are a menace for me as Tiger player. War isn't clean, after all.
You can shoot the flat part of the IS hull or even the LFP and it should kill.
@@g.williams2047 Yes, assuming we're facing an IS-1 and they are not hull-down. Still, I have killed too many IS tanks like that to try the sensible way.
Cupola is the universal weak spot I always go for when possible

It does make sense, however - it's just not a tactic that would ever be used by any tank gunner.

Last time I was in a ISU 152 I killed two jumbos the first I shot him on the mg port the second I shot him on the roof I was using HEAT.

As a german main I aim at that spot with all M4's but for some reason my rounds always get eaten by the MG and the Tiger isn't known for it's speed to get out the way XD

I tried to understand why my 88 mm of my Tiger H1 can penetrate the frontal plate of a Jumbo while a 75 mm of a Panther D can't.
I think it because they 88 mm with the distance curve a little changing the angle of impact, while 75 mm go straight even with distance and bounce on the angled plate.
From what I understand, the 88mm is able to slightly overmatch the armour, since it’s not a single homogenous plate, but 2 separate smaller plates with the thickest being less than 88mm thick. That slight overmatch, combined with the relative normalisation from the round arcing more than the 75mm. Is probably what does it (Mainly the overmatch though). A similar phenomenon is observed with the 84mm 20pdr AP round against the Panthers, The round itself is only able to penetrate since it ever so slightly overmatches the UFP, giving it the extra 1-2° onto the 100% ricochet angle it needs. The 17pdr AP round however is unable to penetrate the UFP as it doesn’t sufficiently overmatch the armour to prevent a ricochet or to sufficiently reduce it’s effective thickness against the round.

@@k_balu-8104 it is also possible if the panther is below you, such as at the bottom of a hill, but such engagements usually aren’t favourable if the hill is steep, or the panther is too close to the foot of the hill.
