I have a question about the fibreglass insulation: isn’t it also unhealthy because of fibers being shaken loose during the “earthquake” of driving? And then the potential for breathing them in? I would NEVER…
Did no one in their lives argue the choices made at any point during the build? There is months of work there. It's incredible. I can't wait to see the 1 year revisit on this 😮

Edit: chuck you gotta re-watch with audio. You missed so much awfulness. I admire your overall positivity towards it. Yes he was doing his best, but a single weekend of research would have avoided 90% of the pitfalls chay ran headfirst into.
Yeah, this reeks of someone who spent a few summers throwing together track homes or cheap apartments and just said "Eh, busses are the same, right?" I bet the used solid romex and wire nuts for all the electrical. This thing would be a rolling fire hazard if it weren't built like a giant leaky sponge.
I remember seeing this video a few weeks/months ago and left a comment on how bad it was. Learning from your channel I noticed all kind of bad ideas and mistakes by mr president chay. Another good reminder to not follow these fake "influencers" but instead follow real builders, designers, tradesmen, and carpenters.
One lesson to learn here is to lay out everything and try it before you build. It looked like that driver's seat needed to go back even more. And it needed another 6 inches if you want to be able to tilt back. Also, it looked like there was no space to get your legs in there!
The tile they are using throughout the build is actually plastic, one of the few takeaways as I believe that if properly implemented, (and in an actually attractive pattern) the light weight material could make a nice bathroom.
With all the mistakes I'd love to see him do a 6 month follow-up video on how the wood braces and drywall are doing! Maybe he can share mushrooms from the wet rotting wood in the floors 😂
I watched a video of them doing a trailer camper a few episodes after the bus build and they mention they sold it not long after they built it. Feel very sorry for the new owner
They never share the follow up. Just like fake news stories that stir up anger and hatred never publish a correction detailing their errors when all the information comes out. This whole gaming the system for ad clicks stuff is really abysmal.
Your video made me smile as you said out loud what I am usually thinking. We see the same garbage techniques in the building industry and so many people are clueless and, sadly, are used to poor workmanship. I know you came across poorly with some people, but hopefully, it will give others things to look for.
I have a legitimate question, i'm spray foaming the interior and I was curious if filling the square tube in the ceiling with foam would help prevent moisture from dripping at each brace, I'm curious if anyone has tried that and what are the results? I'm trying to save some head room.
The worst part of the build that we saw was where we heard you comment about how dumb he was to frame over his windows, which could break, and, would need to tear out a wall to replace…which, was exactly the way we had planned to do our framing😳🙄😬.
I feel bad because its not that he isn't skilled, he just has a different set of skills from what is needed for busbuilding and is kind of forcing the round peg into the square hole, not bothered whether the peg will still roll on the other side. We have the internet.
I'm pretty sure that the range hood over the stove is purely cosmetic. I don't recall seeing anything that looked even remotely like an exterior vent that the interior "hood" could use.
hahahahha SAVAGE but correct none-the-less :D happy i found your channel, looking forward to looking through your videos. luckily havent heard about "President Chay" life is good !!

Even before I knew anything at all about this sort of thing, I would have cringed at this so hard.
Sorry I missed the premier of this one last night. Hadn't looked at buses for a hot minute and went out to old Marketplace to have a look. So many just appallingly bad conversions or half conversions that you wouldn't even want to try to rip out and start from scratch. Just makes me ask "what did that poor bus do to you?" There's just no excuse when there has been GOOD content out there to guide folks into making the best, safest decisions on bus conversions. Sad and a waste of a good bus.
That kind of work is why I decided to not do a conversion. I've been seeing tons of complaints about insurance issues, camp grounds not allowing conversions, and when people have had their fun and are getting out, the value on the resale market for conversions is taking a beating because of so many poorly done conversions. Plus I'm getting old and conversion work isn't my thing anymore. I do enjoy your honesty in your videos, as well as your videos in general. Wish I could un-view ex-President Chay!

@@GrantfromEarth wow, that's horrible for the new owners!
Your video made me smile as you said out loud what I am usually thinking.
We see the same garbage techniques in the building industry and so many people are clueless and, sadly, are used to poor workmanship.
I know you came across poorly with some people, but hopefully, it will give others things to look for.
6:30 I will be starting my build soon. What do you suggest for walls instead of 2x4 to save on space?
3/4 plywood cut to 2” strips and double it up, run horizontal across the hat channels instead of parallel to.
I have a legitimate question, i'm spray foaming the interior and I was curious if filling the square tube in the ceiling with foam would help prevent moisture from dripping at each brace, I'm curious if anyone has tried that and what are the results?
I'm trying to save some head room.
Honest question. I heard you talk about the drywall. What would you have used?
Plywood. Or literally anything else that isn’t made of paper and rock dust
Thanks Chuck. I am in the market for a bus and have been watching a ton of your videos!
saw this video a long time ago shock my head several times
Chuck. Have you ever considered putting slide outs on your bus? Like a travel trailer and 5th wheels have.
I don’t like them myself
"There's no room for fun up there" took me out hahahahahahahaha
is this why its hard to get bus insurance? cause i feel like it is lol
Chuck, what do you think of President Chay’s newest schoolie conversion?
The worst part of the build that we saw was where we heard you comment about how dumb he was to frame over his windows, which could break, and, would need to tear out a wall to replace…which, was exactly the way we had planned to do our framing😳🙄😬.
"The best part of the video is, honestly... this guy's good looking." Yup, I think that just about sums it up :)
Sorry, the Chuck is on a whole other level even in that department. (Honestly...the Pres creeps me out.)
It looks like somebody's renovated basement from the '90s.
hahahahha SAVAGE but correct none-the-less :D happy i found your channel, looking forward to looking through your videos. luckily havent heard about "President Chay" life is good !!
should've gone with the "dry flush" toilet from Laveo
I saw this one. Everyone who actually knew anything about skoolie builds was roasting him in the comments.
Im dieing to see what chuck thinks about President Chays newest bus build
I good Mississippi road and this drywall I think would be a big fail.
Are you familiar with and, if so, would you have a review of East Coast Campers?
I watched that video. They are 2 brothers who are doing their first build.
They had some show they had to get to.
I respect their ambition but even I know that they’re doing things wrong.
I’m a retired Psychologist and have no mechanical skills, but I know that if I’m doing something new, I research and get professional help and advice when doing something new.
I always enjoy your content and learn a great deal. I think for this video though you should have been drinking a lot more! haha. What would be funny now is for him to critique one of your videos except he would focus on you needing to get to the gym! haha. Anyhow, thank you for all you share! (I need to get to the gym too!)
Hello Chuck's Im trying to buy a school bus, I don't had a place to live and I don't know how to start,I live in FL,and I'm scared to buy a little damage school bus, any idea, like best motor miles,I'm soo lost, thanks
A mini split unit under a bus would be impossible to service and the coils full of dirt after the first week
It looks like those overpriced apartments that are all “Newly remodeled and updated!” and it’s just ugly grey and white everything with faux marble and brick everywhere. 😂
This makes me feel better about my future build for sure, lmao.
I watched five minutes of the person that you are reviewing here
President Chay and I thought his bus was shit
I would rather like to see what your bus looks like inside and outside
Once it’s finished
Finished the right way
As I know you do
Kind regards to you and your experience in bus conversion

In the UK we wouldn't even call that blue bus a bodge...it's a bag of sh*te in every way. How do these people manage to get dressed in the morning?..
I remember this one. The great stuff fix on the body was utterly ridiculous, lol. That’s when I dropped out of the video.
I think this video is so important to watch for those of us that truly don’t know what we don’t know. I don’t think anything you said was mean. It was just the truth, and sometimes the truth hurts. Despite someone’s best intentions.
Just think about all of the weight they could have saved by discarding the windows. And he definitely classed it up a few notches with the crown moulding!
Yes, they did drywall.
