It’s soo interesting to me that the American couple you encountered in the crepe restaurant were surprised saying “they don’t work much!” Because when I went to Italy with my parents they said the same thing there. I just think us Americans lack a good work life balance so it shocks us to see it in other countries. Thanks for sharing France with us!
i remember when someone from france came to work for a few months in america told me french people work more.. and smoke more in france. only one person smoked in our company and he happened to be french too. I think it just depends on industry, I worked at a corporate beauty office.
@@napperforlife2020 Americans don't take a two hour lunch break. And in France isn't it illegal for bosses to contact their employees outside working hours and expect them to respond? The French definitely value leisure time more than Americans.
I am absolutely loving this series Gabie! You're inspiring me to venture away from my comfort zone and partner to seek out myself again through traveling and experiencing things on my own.
I used to really dislike eating out alone, but when I moved abroad by myself and had only a very tiny kitchen (and was learning the language so I could buy ingredients at the grocery store!), I forced myself to get used to it. Now I actually really enjoy going to restaurants alone: I can spend however long or short a time I want, I can sometimes bring something to read (if it's a casual cafe setting), and restaurants are usually able to accommodate just one person even easier than two. I also feel less self-conscious about ordering whatever I want to eat if I'm by myself.

I used to be the same, but slowly I forced myself to get out of my comfort zone and do it. I love solo traveling and realised I was missing out a lot. So I started with lunch alone and slowly graduated to dinner. Now I love it, and I love people watching too, it's fascinating. I realised that my fear of being judged was all inside of my mind, no one cared if I was alone, so I was missing out on amazing meals cos I was too scared. No more. And the best part is sometimes even if the best restaurants are booked out, I always managed to get a table cos I was alone. Bravo Gabie! Love your video vlogs btw!

In my time as a waitress I always loved when ppl just ate out alone, enjoying their own company. And some ppl really need that time for themselves and sometimes you chitchat. As a waiter you are always picking up on the mood of the customer and not once have I felt like ppl who are choosing to eat alone are lonely but most of the times quite content with their own company. Also when I was still in school and waiting for my bus, I sometimes sat down in a bakery or cafe. When it was full, older ladys asked to sit with me. The conversations always turned out to be very ingeresting and lovely, as they either had a lot of stories and advice or needed someone to chat with, or both. Don't be scared to go out alone folks. The most interesting things could happen because ur focus can shift outward.
Love this so much. Same with solo travelling. I learned so much about myself by travelling alone. Surprisingly I met so many interesting people at unexpected times and circumstances (making friends when getting mugged and going to make a police report, anyone?). Sometimes I wish I could meet them again. But then I understand that's the beauty of not seeing them again. Make me treasure my experiences even more.
I am so happy for you Gabie , this opportunity really came on the right time, everything fall into place once we put and decide to take the chance. Making decision and being separated from spouse in order to relearn about ourselves is not something that everybody can do- understand. She lived in Paris alone before so this is like eating alone again after a while. It’s nice to see lively changes in the vlog Gabie. Others were confused about when she said on she has no one to talk to who is passionate about food and we all think about it’s about her being a chef, which is a good interpretation since the vlog is about being in a culinary school/class. Remember like she said, she is an influencer. Maybe its her identity as a chef food vlogger. It’s more of a lifestyle part and it’s really nice to watch.
I think she said she grew up (so with her family) in that area of Paris, France and she doesn’t have friends there anymore, probably she lost contact with them since she moved around a lot or they also moved elsewhere.. so wouldn’t this be her first time really trying to get used to eating out by herself? I also find it really awkward and self-conscious to eat out by myself. When I was living alone and wanted to eat out, I always resulted to buying food and bringing it home. But watching you go out and enjoy eating good food by yourself is really inspiring and gives me a confidence boost to do it as well. Have always loved your videos!! Hope you enjoy your time there!
Hey Gabie ! So happy to see you enjoying the food there and being comfortable at alone. I was a french student last year, and being an introvert in a new town, I didn't have anyone to hang out first. But, I still wanted to try some new restaurants, and since I was new, I kept telling myself no one would care or even recognize me, so I wasn't scared. And, once you started, you realize it's actually not that big of a deal. Everyone is busy living their own life and it's actually nice sometimes to just enjoy your meal by yourself with your own thoughts while enjoying the view. It might be awkward at first, but really, no one care or remember that you are eating alone. They all have their own lifes and you are also living your own :)

I've been used to eating alone since high school. It used to feel sad but eventually it just felt normal. These days, I sometimes enjoy it because it's peaceful alone time.

In some countries, eating out is more difficult because the waiters rush you so they can get the table back, but in Paris I've noticed that the attitude is that you are treating yourself and it's a celebration - and so it should be! I love eating out on my own in Paris. Anyway, bit of 'me time' is good for the soul. You look like you're working so hard and the food looks amazing - you deserve it 😁

I think once you get over the fear of eating out alone you realize two things:
1- There are more people than you think who sometimes eat alone
2- Nobody cares XD

the first point is so so true and it comes as a surprise because you never notice it yourself which is exactly the second point 😆

I've always wanted to go out by myself and eat alone, I love having time alone, it really gives me energy. But my social anxiety kicks in and it makes me think too much. This series you're doing it's encouraging me so thank you ❤

I've been used to eating alone since high school. It used to feel sad but eventually it just felt normal. These days, I sometimes enjoy it because it's peaceful alone time.

You sound so different in French... it's amazing haha. Paris looks wonderful as always, but some incredible food, and learning experience. For some reason this reminded me of the 'eat', in eat pray love lol
In some countries, eating out is more difficult because the waiters rush you so they can get the table back, but in Paris I've noticed that the attitude is that you are treating yourself and it's a celebration - and so it should be! I love eating out on my own in Paris. Anyway, bit of 'me time' is good for the soul. You look like you're working so hard and the food looks amazing - you deserve it 😁
