I retired from the US Army and what do I miss? The soldiers that I served with and the many teams that I had the honor to be a part of. You cannot under estimate the power of oneness that develops in teams that are capable, focused and truly care for each other. Believe me that is not something that is only associated with SF. Once you experience it you will miss it too. Why do you think the corporate world has embraced the team concept.
