To explain the confusion of what’s happening. The old man is a small demon called an Azakana that feeds of bad emotions (this one attached himself to Yasuo) and plans to drain him until Yone comes in to save him. Haley is right at first Yasuo thinks Yone is a demon and doesn’t notice the old man is the demon since he tricked him with an illusion of a spirit blossom and tea. Yone on the other hand, he had an Azakana attached to him when he died, the Azakana didn’t get to drain Yone due to his early death, and so it chased him into the spirit realm where it and Yone fought. Yone won in a way (like the previous cinematic) but Yone awoke with the Azakana stuck as a mask on his face in the physical world. Now he has learned he can hunt them and trap them into masks, his goal is to learn what happened to him with his Azakana, how to get rid of it and be able to live a normal life again. So Yone is now an Azakana hunter and Yasuo is able to move on from Ionia.
He also has now the blade of the Azakana that he defeated, all in all perfect explanation my dude.
Also every single demon in league lore is an azakana, the azakana is so small that u can't notice him, but he grows up in time feeding off the host emotions, also the only way yone can seal an azakana in a mask is by knowing it's name and shouting it which is interesting because he knows tahm kench real name and tahm as u know is an azakana (a demon) so he can seal him easily but riot would never do that because he is a champ so im writing nons.
Must be pretty confusing for people who never really read into it, especially because both the ancient ionian spirit Yone and the current Yone have a very similar lore.

When Yone said this, he was talking about Elder Souma(Soo-mah) who was killed when Riven visited. Yasuo was tasked to guard the Master(Elder Souma) and Yone was tasked to go out there and fight but given that Yasuo was arrogant like that, he left his post. When Yasuo DID eventually left his post, Riven visited Elder Souma asking to help her remove the curse on her blade. Given that Elder Souma also uses the wind technique, he tried to break Riven's blade but it only triggered for the blade to activate a stronger magic than Elder Souma's. One of the shards of Riven's blade that Souma broke, killed him so everyone thought that the killer was Yasuo. Yasuo kept running because he didn't want to hurt anyone but ended up killing more people than just act on self defense because he was deadly with the blade and wind technique.This is also the reason why he is an alcoholic.
"Then I should be out there protecting her!" - Yasuo
Yasuo is referring to Ionia here where he wants to partake in the war so he left his post as Elder Souma's bodyguard.
"It's taken years for the Spirit Blossoms to return, if the land is ready to heal, perhaps so are you" - old man/azakana
The Spirit Blossoms didn't bloom for years because of the war and given that the land is aware of it being alive, it kinda like shut down from letting the dead speak to the living until now. The Spirit Blossom is a kind of festival/event where the living can speak to the dead. The way it works is that the flower will bloom for you, you do not find the flower(this was the start of the old man's trick) and you have to drink a special tea to get you to call upon the spirit better(but what happened was a flashback which wasn't supposed to happen).
The reason that the azakana was growing is because if you saw after Yasuo drank his tea, he had his hands on his shoulders because the azakana was draining him and he grew simply from the negative emotions that he let Yasuo release using the wrong tea/weird tonic he gave.

@@pedrovizcarra5520 yeah, I thought he was too but this cinematic shed light into the subject that what happened to Elder Souma was an accident and Yone was just trying to teach his bro a lesson.
el WirØ I think this was revealed much later on after the invasion on Ionia ended. When it first happened, everyone thought it was Yasuo at first since they didn’t know anyone else who can do that wind technique other than their master, Yasuo, and Yone, and Yasuo was the only suspect at that time.

Alright this one's a really good cinematic basically recapping Yasuo's lore and how it is moving forward. It starts with Yasuo's and his half-brother Yone's last encounter after he is on the run for being accused of killing his master, Elder Souma. The flashback ends with Yasuo's waking up in Weh'le, an Ionian village where the Spirit Blossom Festival takes place, the Festival allows people to use Spirit Blossoms to commune with the spirits of their loved ones and make peace with them. He bumps into an Azakana taking the form of an elderly man, Azakana are minor demons caused by specific emotions, in Yasuo's case it's his regret about killing when he was on the run. Being impulsive by nature and being desperate to make peace with his brother, Yasuo's takes the Azakana's offer to find peace in his temple rather than properly visiting the Spirit Blossom Tree. Yasuo's bathes in the river as a symbolic gesture of cleansing himself (artistically shown by blood washing off his blade). He experiences more flashbacks about the conflict between him and Yone, showing their different personalities. Yasuo was tasked by the village to protect his master Souma, while Yone went out to fight in the war. Yasuo ended up leaving to fight and returned to find his master dead, slain by the same wind technique he and Yasuo mastered (this later turned out to be Riven on accident but that's a story for another day). This led him to be blamed for the death and him going on the run, killing those who attempted to capture him including Yone. He is then given a Spirit Blossom (that turns out to be an illusion) and a drink (that turns out to be drugged) by the Azakana. The Azakana attempts to enhance his regret to grow stronger, but Yone intervenes. Yasuo makes peace with himself and the two brothers team up to defeat and seal away the demon in one of the best fight scenes Riot has put out. With no purpose, Yasuo takes a boat Bilgewater with Ahri who is trying to learn about her past. This leaves the possibility that Yasuo and Ahri might also be in the Ruined King game.

Funny enough in Yone’s interactions he knows of the other demons like Eve, Fid, Swain’s arm, TK.
It’s also cool how they added new quotes for Yasuo to match Yone. Like how Yone knows about Taliyah being Yasuo’s student.
I found a video of a girl named Tenebrix that is a lore experct, where she say that Eve, Fid and TK are different from the Azakana who are the demons (?) that Yone hunt, btw idk if we should call the entities that Yone hunts demons for the are azakanas (I think). Just to complete I think that Swain's arm is just like the blade and mask of Yone that are part of one Azakana but this is just my speculation, I need to read more of the lore.

Hopefully this can help everyone appreciate the cinematic a bit more as it is a bit vague in spots:
The first fight is a very good benchmark for comparing the skill of the two brothers. Yone is seen as the better swordsman as when Yasuo picks up a blade from the ground and withholds his wind technique, Yone breaks the sword giving yasuo a red gash on his nose which would turn into his iconic scar. However, this also seems to break the sort of warning period Yasuo was giving Yone. When Yasuo unsheathes his sword he starts using the wind technique displaying that Yasuo has more power than Yone yet less technical skill.
When the old man talks about "commuting," he is referring to a ceremony practiced primarily in Weh'le where people may speak to the dead through holding a spirit blossom, which the soul of a dead person may temporarily inhabit, and drinking spirit tea (a tea made from a spirit blossom.)
As for the flashbacks: Yasuo was always a hotheaded person and got himself into trouble, Yone was the opposite. Yone got accepted to the school of swordsmanship for their village, as was expected of the eldest son. However, Yasuo was also admitted as an exception. Due to his skill, Yasuo got the attention of Elder Souma, the last user of the wind technique, and began schooling as Souma's disciple and subsequently, his future bodyguard. At this point, Yone starts to think he has failed Yasuo as he has not been strong enough to be a proper role model to Yasuo and thus blames himself for Yasuo's behavior that Yone had not been able to change since their childhood. The two argue while sparring over the importance of the duty to protect the village vs going to fight against the Noxian Invasion as Yone and the others are assigned to go fight while Yasuo must stay and protect Elder Souma. Yasuo is ordered to stay and protect but goes to fight against the Noxians. Meanwhile, Riven arrives at Elder Souma to ask for him to attempt to cleanse her blade of noxian magic. Souma agrees and attempts to use the wind technique to cleanse the blade but the blade doesn't react well and shatters, killing Souma with a shard of the blade. Yasuo returns to find Elder Souma and finds him dead from wind swordsmanship and, knowing he'd be accused due to the fact that he was the only other user of the wind technique, goes on the run because he's prepared to defend his innocence with his life but trying not to kill one of his former friends. The village sees Yasuo's escape as an admittance of guilt and starts sending swordsmen after him all of which he kills until they send the best swordsman they have, Yone.
Final fight scene: Yasuo protects the azakana (which was not yone lmao 8:33) because he hasn't seen his transformation yet and only sees a stranger attacking an old man. This also symbolic of Yasuo protecting his demons and running from his regret, which is the emotion this azakana is feeding off of I believe. Lastly, this might be a bit technical but it could be said that the final use of Yasuo's ultimate on the azakana also teases that Yone's ult helps yasuo get to the maximum potential of his ult because it brings enemies together and knocks them up, allowing Yasuo to activate his ult on everyone affected (lmao.)

I love the intro, Yasuo shows he doesn’t want to fight him and keeps deflecting Yone’s attacks with the sheath of his blade, then picks up a sword from the battleground which Yone breaks. At the end Yasuo accepts he has to fight him for real to escape. It’s so sad.

I was a Yasuo girl but damn when Yone appeared and we were both elder children, I was like.. "damn, boi! Everyone thinks (including Yone), that Yasuo killed Elder Souma (their teacher) because he was killed by someone using wind techniques. Yasuo should have protect him, but he rather went for a fight (during a war I think). That is why Yasuo is chased for no reason and has to kill his close ones in order to live. ( Sorry for my bad english)

In the beginning fight between yasuo and yone yone says”you swore to protect him” (the elder that dies because yasuo left to fight) and yasuo replying with “you swore to protect ionia look around you your honor stains the ground” this refers to yone couldn’t protect ionia and the people around him lost and died in the war.

Nyfriom's lore time! So during the Noxian invasion to Ionia Yasuo was tasked with protecting his master, which taught him the wind technique. Yasuo disobeys and his master ends up dying by 3 wind cuts. Obviously everyone thinks it was Yasuo. In-game it was heavily implied that actually Riven was the one who struck down the master, but recently on a long story Riot published it was mad clear it was Riven's fault, kinda. meanwhile Yasuo is exiled and hunted down by the Ionians. Later Riven appears and basically she confessed what happened. So Riven was a soldier of Noxus and she was given her big, magical, heavy sword. Later the invasion occurred and she was horrified at what Noxus was doing and for her the sword was that burden she didn't want to carry. So Riven went to the master to try to destroy her sword and they could. But when the sword was destroyed it released a blast that killed the master and knocked Riven unconscious. When she woke up she had amnesia. Then they had a trial, Yasuo was declared innocent and Riven was basically given community service.

So for everyone who still confused the connection between the myth path of ionian and this cinematic is
-the legend of the ionia when the spirit blossom happened and
- the end of the path of ionian myth is Yone in the current time
-the story of the legend might represent why Yone returned back alive as a demon just like in the legend stories
Also in the path cinematic, it represents the habitants of the place like Teemo, Thresh, Lilia Kindred , Cassiopeia, and Ahri.

Well, we know exactly which Spirit Bonds emote Marc's gunning for.
Just like @Alfa Wolff said, Yone basically introduces Azakana into the lore (though they were teased with Fiddlesticks' release). I'd just add that Azakana differ from the likes of Evelynn, Tahm, or Nocturne in that they are not considered 'true' demons... yet. True demons feed on very base negative emotions and experiences; nightmares, physical pain, or in the case of the primordial demon Fiddlesticks, straight up fear. Azakana aren't powerful enough to do this, and so feed on more specific instances in people's lives, hoping to gain enough power to become true demons. In Yasuo's case, the Azakana was feeding on his grief/shame from killing his brother. The Azakana have become a very common problem following the Noxian/Ionian War.
About the path- that wasnt yone, BUT Yone had exactly same adventure as elder brother (man showed in cinematic). Its basicly a legend that come truth, like dragons in overwatch

Lore in a nutshell!
As a bastard son, Yasuo was always compared to his brother so he kept searching ways to prove himself, and it turned out he was extremely skilled with the blade so Yone made him train with elder suma wich humbled Yasuo down.
During the noxian invasion, Yasuo was ordered to stay behind and protect the elders but he left his post and went to fight in the war, but arrived too late and had to return to his post, but when he returned, Elder Suma was found dead, and everyone thought that he was the killer.
Yasuo escapes and kills his brother who was chasing him along with many others and after a lot of running, he decides to return to Ionia after training Taliyah and ends up finding the true culprit.
His name is cleaned but he hasn't forgiven himself for killing Yone and tries to communicate with his spirit during the spirit blossom festival, and the rest you saw it here.
*In this shot **10:28**, Yone* finally got Yasuo to realize his own misguidance. Yone is very conservative about honor, opening the door for Yasuo to supposedly protect the elders of Ionia (mentioned here: 7:00 Yone to Yasuo, "Your place is here, with elder Souma," etc. whilst Yasuo assumes his position of ending the Ionian war against Noxus, I think lol.) This cinematic is the aftermath of the Ionian Myth (trailer can be found here: th-cam.com/video/u9fFG4ZLp9Y/w-d-xo.html). The "myth" goes that the 'collector' and 'jealous' demons are envious of the Spirits (such as angels) guiding souls/wanderers to the afterlife towards this golden willow tree [aka peace/heaven], so in revenge, these demons are looking for souls especially during this sojourn in the Spirit Realm as seen in the three frames of Ahri (in form of a Spirit Blossom fox) guiding the soul of Yone passing by the domes of Cassiopeia, Kindred, and Lillia. Before entering Teemo's dome (the place of the trickster), he is lured into Thresh's dome. In this case, Thresh is known as the collector demon as he collects souls. In order to do so, they search for vulnerable beings in Runeterra (earth plane) such as the twin brothers (at the time this was so that they're able to bring chaos/conflict making demons' job to devour/lure souls with ease), and the best candidates were Yone AND Yasuo in the Ionian region. In the Ionian Myth trailer, you can see Yone (older brother) end up in the Spirit Realm after being defeated by Yasuo here (9:59-10:12). Yone's last reply to Yasuo's "I'm no murderer" is "Then why are you running?" depicts that he's always running to end the war, but can also mean he's running away from his "honor"--in this case, the demon materialized onto O-Fa (the elder man) which in fact is shrouded by a prancing demon, an Azakana (maybe the demon of ego, idk something like that; remember, not the same lurking demon that shrouds Fiddlesticks or any lesser demons like Evelynn...) and that Yone says that he fights "When I have to, not when I want to" (6:34-6:37). Yone then gets lured into a confusion where he sees himself fight his enemy (supposedly Yasuo) but it's a mind trick. His own dead statue reminds Yone that he "Should've saved him". 'Him' refers to Yasuo, meaning that Yone should have saved Yasuo from his honor but Yone "died" dishonorably. Yone faces the same demon (not the collector, just an illusion) but the illusion snatches him last minute. Every frame in the Ionian Myth trailer is detailed, so you'll see what I mean. At the very end of the trailer, Yone is now reborn, however with the stain on his blade, the same stain you can see Yasuo finds out about when he awakens from his 'flashback' of him fighting his brother (4:26). The 'stain' on his blade also symbolizes burden, in as much as Yone's stained blade, but he still carries his honor to fight back as the "Spirit of the Wind". Enter Yone in his really cool skin (the skin for Yone in the game) in Weh'le (the coastal region of Ionia with the big giant willow tree) at night when he hears a whisper in the distance "Brother" (at 8:37) (but it doesn't happen in the Ionian Myth trailer sadly) and Yone appears before Yasuo (8:40). Yasuo (9:40) STILL doesn't recognize that he's fighting his demon (when really it was an illusion; same thing happened to Yone and this is why Yone hear's his brother's call, and letting Yasuo know that he needs to wake tf up lmao, because if Yasuo doesn't then he'll walk the same way Yone did, but will easily have his soul collected to suffer in the hands of the collector or Thresh) Basically we're talking about this conflict on a SPIRITUAL LEVEL, that has a really good connection between the two bothers issuing a misunderstanding between each other but of course Yone is basically the anti-hero, calling up his brother to not fall for the spiritual burden or spiritual death. Finally Yasuo and Yone defeat this illusion and Yasuo carries a petal (hope) and says "Have your revenge, brother," since he forgave his brother's "murder" HENCE WHY Yasuo's title is "The Unforgiven" because Yone claims that he deserves death anyway, but NOT BY Yone's hand, because he is his brother and remember, HONOR, duh lol 11:25-11:30 Yasuo then says, "There's nothing left for me in Ionia," because he's an unforgivable brat lol But interestingly enough, Yone tells Yasuo to, "Even the wind has a path, brother... May the Spirit of Ionia guide you." AND THEN YOU WILL NOTICE YASUO ON THE BOAT WITH (drumroll please) AHRI, the SPIRIT FOX GUIDING YASUOOOOOO TO BILGEWATER. idk what they're going to do in Bilgewater honestly. We need a part 2. uwu
