    Rachel, congratulations, you did it, you have my head spinning!!! Mostly with excitement and a little of wow, at 72 this can be challenging, but I am a young 72 so it is great fun and I love to learn. Your style of teaching works well for me, hopefully you are not a K-5 teacher, wouldn't say much for my learning 😀 In all seriousness, thanks so much. This really gives me something to sink my teeth into and really move my bass learning along. Totally looking forward to more in the future!!

    Thanks so much. To be honest, I'm a little bit amazed that I understood what was being conveyed in the lesson. It's very intriguing to see how the C major scale played out in the chord chart. Also, I'd heard the term 'chromatic notes' many times but never quite got it...until now. They really add so much color to the bass line. Now I need to practice and get what been instilled into my head out and onto my fingers on the fretboard. Loving it!

    I'm really enjoying these (actually went to bed last night with this as my ear worm). I love playing All My Loving because of the walking bass line. If I look back over the years, all of my favourite songs are favourites because of the bass. Duran Duran's John Taylor started it all off. He's such a great bass player.....so great that I can only play Save A Prayer, as the rest are too hard! I love playing my ukes, but my u-basses are very special (and so much easier to play than heavy bass guitars, which is why I stopped playing years ago). Thanks again for some great lessons 😀

    Thank you very much for this lesson and all your efforts to help teach new bass players. You do a great job. That said, I have a few hopefully constructive comments: Some of us are really beginners and when you play at 140 bpm and say "remember, you can always slow it down", you should realize that you could have played it at 80 bpm and said "remember, you can always speed it up". Secondly, although the chord sequences that you chose are really 'jazzy' and sound great, most beginners are playing vanilla 3 and 4 and 5 chord progressions found in easy ukulele songs that our friends are playing. Thirdly, when you do 'play-alongs', it would be nice to play along with some popular ukulele song that many beginners might know. None of these thing are too serious, but I know I would benefit from them. Thanks for your efforts.

    • @UkuleleWales
      @UkuleleWales  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks again Bob, glad to be helping. Always appreciate constructive comments, I didn't actually play any of the 140bpm tracks but will certainly take the slow down bit on board. These are particularly for a walking bass line so the chord progressions reflect this but I have looked quite a lot at the more popular uke songs in some of beginner lessons and of course the play alongs on the Ukulaliens play along channel can all be played by the bass and cover all sorts of songs. Hope that all makes. Kindest regards.

    This and the previous lesson are great, and I'm sure I'm going to enjoy trying to get to grips with their contents. As I do, I would like to try to apply what I'm learning to the songs on which I want to walk, many of which have passages with a chord change every other beat. Any advice on a general approach to that situation? Best wishes, Bob D.

    • @UkuleleWales
      @UkuleleWales  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Bob, you can either just stick to the root, play 2 then change, or 5ths but this doesn't always work. Main thing, don't try to cram to many notes in and keep it simple until you are happy.

    Thank you Rachel! There is something I do not understand. In the first example, the Cmaj7 is played with Root, 3rd, 5th, and 3rd again. While Am7 is played Root, 3rd, 5th, and upper Root. Why is that some chords are played with the 3rd at the end, and other with the upper Root?

    • @UkuleleWales
      @UkuleleWales  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question. Really it doesn't matter as along as you are keeping the rhythm going with the walking line. Very often I look at the next chord and that will determine which note (3rd, 5th and even 7th) I play at the end of each chord. Hope that helps.

    Shamai, I do not know what it means, I suppose Hello.
    Could you please tell me how you learn to play thoses bass lines, do you first learn the first bar until you play it perfectly and then you learn the second and so on ?
    Or you learn more, 4 bars for instance...
    Thank you very much for your answer.

      Shwmae means hello, how are you, so shwmae! If you haven't watched the first walking bass line video, I'd suggest doing that first as it is much simpler so therefore easier to keep the rhythm which is what the walking bass lines are all about. If you are struggling then I'd always suggest breaking it down into bars, hope this helps, please feel free to ask more questions.
