Your creative mind is so un-inhibited by rules and pre-conception. That's what all artists stive for. And you've got it!!! Keep creating for as long as you can. With the best music ever!
Watching this made the improv quilt finally make sense in my head. I like to imagine the girls at the quilt shop (who comment often on my obsessed precision) watching me chuck my ruler back in my bag and just get to work. Haven't mentioned in a while how much your videos make me smile. They do, every time. ☺️❤️
Your color choices and improv block designs really zing! But what I really love about your work is the way you assemble your blocks. There is no agonizing...you just do it and it all comes together beautifully. Great idea for making strips to fill in the cracks. Artistic and inspiring work. Loved this video!
OMG I loved this. I've never colored outside the lines in my 65 years and it's something I've been wanting to do but had no idea how. So enjoyable watching you work, the process and the music was so fun. I just found you going to check out your other videos . Ty Dave ♥️
Another amazing piece. I have learned so much watching you and you have given me insight and hope 🫣🤔 to step outside the box. I can't believe you haven't been approached by a major company to be an influencer and educator. There's so few of people like you out there doing what you do.... especially with a multi billion dollar industry. Do you sell online.... you are at the point that you could stay home and design, make and sell and make a fortune.
Every video I think “wow, this is my favourite” and then I watch another and go “wow etc” but I think this one really may be my fave of yours I’ve seen so far
More is absolutely more, what a fantastic quilt! Just discovered your channel, I LOVE it. I love watching an artist's process and what you create is mind blowing . I'm so inspired to grab a bunch of colors and just go for it. Thanks so much, an excited new subscriber.
oh my god this is my favorite video I've ever seen I have never made a quilt before and have barely sewn but I have really been wanting to handsew a mini quilt and then use it to make a heating pad to give to a friend, I have been confused before about how to join up two curvy edges of paper or fabric but I can't believe it's so simple lol I'm saved!! And I loooove the quilt, it reminds me of my habit of editing photos to use as phone wallpaper that's very More is More (like, getting obnoxious playing with rgb curves until it's high contrast and has a million colors and is unrecognizable. And it's like always unique to the image and today's milieu) I also love the way you use language hahaha
that looks like a lot of fun to make. I really should give it a try, but it kind of gives me a scare . I always put it of saying: I don't have solids because I don't like to work with them.
Lovin' the crack crumbs Dave - out come my rolls of adding machine paper. Going to use that idea for my borders on my improv quilt. Thanks for inspiring us!
Perfect name for that one! But I love your style. Like the nod to Karen Brown with adding machine tape. I am now starting to share your videos! Can't wait for the next one, IUP alum, you are awesome!
I wasn't sure how you were going to pull this together in the end, but you did. Turned out really nice. What I love about this is you don't have to be so crazy accurate with measuring or block size. You just keep adding on until it's done. One thing I don't understand...why did you use the paper tape? Is it to keep it from skewing off in one direction to keep it lined up?
If this were my quilt I would add more lines of quilting maybe with 12wt thread and do some hand embroidery like chicken foot prints (feet prints?) going across it to add more texture. Still a fun quilt.🤓
Love how free and therapeutic this looks, but i Can't get away with impov, need to know hows its going to look before i even start, and love the use windex, i personally use bug spray for the roses...
I'm not sure, I made blocks kind of intermittently at first (the handful I had at the beginning of the video) and then I finished it over the course of a few weekends I *think* 😜👨🏻
@@davescraftroom okay so I swear I was posting this on the current vid, but I'm a senior citizen and don't understand how mobile works anymore. ANYWAYS. Have you watched the new season of Criminal Minds?!
Hold the phone…you really just lay two fabrics together, cut a random freehand curve, sew them together, and it works!? What geometric wizardry is this? I need to try
lol yes 😜 technically to make it "really" perfect you'd need to add a quarter inch seem allowance to either side of the curve. But if the curve is kept relatively gentle and then you use a little elbow grease, you can make it work without the seam allowances :P
Dave, enjoy watch you videos and creative mind. The music in this one is so good I wanted to buy it stream. No music credits provided 😟. Dave do you have the name of song/ group
Thank you! The song is Prelude in E minor by T. Bless and the Professionals; They have a whole album called Real Class where they do jazz versions of classical music. I found it on Artlist, where I buy royalty free music for my videos
You are one of the most creative quilters I’ve come across! Innovative & Inspiring! 🤩
thank you tracy! 😁👨🏻
You're in that club too!
“How to measure stuff” 😂 dying 😂

Your video is amazing, your use of color is exceptional. May I ask what your design wall is made of that the fabric can just stick to it like that?
El privilegio de tener una vista aérea ❤❤❤ de su proceso. Exquisito manejo del color 🎉

You're a true creator, an artist. That quilt is a work of art! Thank you ❤️
I love improv, Dave you have helped me take some of the fear of my efforts out of it.

Reckless abandon I would call it. Glorious.
Hands down the best musical accompaniment to a quilting video on the internet!!!
More is more might be my favourite of your quilts…
Fabulous. Love the music. Your best design wall creation so far. Don't stop Dave.
Потрясающе!! Просто обалденно!
Love, love it!!! I want to be creative like this...I just have to be brave!!! Love from Canada
Great video.. First of yours I've watched. I will watch more, for sure.
Dave you are so liberating! A breathe of fresh air with your creativity, good sir😊
Yeah, Just Get it Done fan here too

Dave you are the Man for the century! This is my kind of quilt! Great job! Please do more videos...Please, and loved the music!
OK.! This is now my favourite of your quilts apart from the jungle one.
I love it!! I had no idea how to cut and sew the curves!! Thank you!
This quilt is amazing ! I wish I could improv like this. Mind blowing

Great ideas - and you're so warm and lovely. Subscribed!
welcome 👨🏻🕺🏻
You are an artist!
Love it. Your fearless with curved piecing. Very creative. I love the quilt.
One more thing… you do more in 13 minutes of film than most creators do in an hour and a half!
My Dude, this was so great to watch. Thank you for sharing your artistry with us! Came out Rad!
I kept being reminded of 60’s Tom & Jerry watching this. Great job Dave!
Stunning!!!!!
I’m giddy with excitement! I just love this!!

Wish I had inspiration like you. I would of had that in a hot mess and yours look awesome!!👍

I absolutely love this. Your piecing is amazing. I learn so much from you every video.
So much fun! ❤
So much fun!
Love this! I’m a scrappy ‘make it up as I go’ sort of quilter, and I love your style. Thanks for the inspiration.
Very creative.
Excellent!
Dave, I absolutely love watching your videos! You are so incredibly creative! Keep up the great work!
Cool, I love it ❤

yep Karen Brown is exactly where I got the adding machine tape idea! 😜👨🏻
Ovo je divno❤❤❤
This is very reminiscent of Gee's Bend quilts!

Now This is more my style of quiltmaking! May i ask how you created. the wall to stick pieces of the quilt onto?
Love love it. How do,you manage to sew these big quilts sitting in a tight corner?
lol Idk it doesnt feel tight 😅 Maybe it looks tighter on camera than it really is :P
Love it. How many hours?

So clever - such a happy quilt. Loved it !
❤❤❤
I gotta know what you are binging on Netflix to get this quilt done
Lol I don't remember but I watch a lot of Drag Race, true crime, zombies, MST3K.... 😜
