    Watching that almost makes me WEEP! My day bought me a 350 Yenko Nova in 1970. Got it at a big discount because most were AFRAID of it. Mine was red and fitted out as shown in the video, although I don't recall any "deuce:" on the hood. WONDERFUL vehicle that I NEVER should have sold.

    I was a young car jockey at Wallace Chevrolet in Linden NJ where my Dad was a salesman. One weekend I was told to come in on a Saturday and sunday to prep and paint the mechanics garage area and a transporter arrived instead bearing these strange brand new chvy nova,s, all sporting lt-1 stickers ( and a price tag if I remember correctly of close to $4500. ) and striped. Dad brought me home that day in a green Yenko Nova. Took 2 of my friends, Doc Costa and Danny and I to Englishtown Raceway Park and drove that car with the 3 of us down the dragstrip. Dad was also having the time of his life!Well, he went back to work and unknown to him was Raceway Park had already mentioned on radio something about that new Chevy nova that said Yenko Deuce and Dad then had a new Impala instead to drive when he came home.

    This car is nice in blue. Don't forget, in 69, Yenko made 20 or 40 427 Novas. They were considered lethal they were so fast

    Great video... Just a small correction. LT1 engines were never available in Camaro SS models. Rather they were the new engine used in the 70 1/2 Camaro Z28, an upgrade from the previous 302. The LT1 had a beefier torque curve and better suited the automatic tranny available for the first time in a Z28 in the 70 model year.

    The word "Deuce" was a carry over from that same style Chevy II's first year in 1968, but also the Last year of the "Chevy II"
    The LT1 in 1970 came in the Z-28 Camaro as well. Great Video on a rare car!

    I wrote a paper about what killed the muscle car industry. Wish I knew back then that insurance was a player.

      +Jacob W. There were a lot reasons muscle cars died. While insurance companies and the government both played significant roles, OPEC played the biggest role of all. In the late 1970's you couldn't give these things away because after the oil embargo in 1973, nobody could afford to put gas in them. You have to remember that as cool as they are, back then they were just cars because they were only a few years old. We'll view today's cars differently 40 years from now as well. Maybe not the way we look at classic cars now because government regulations prevent the same design creativity we saw back in the day, but A hellcat Challenger will still be considered to be a VERY cool car 40 years from now, and will probably be worth a lot of money too.

      Jacob W. It wasn’t the insurance companies, it was we kids drag racing with power that never should have been in our possession. 400+ hp in the hands of a 20 something year old kid is a recipe for disaster. The cars were affordable we us, so naturally we were attracted to them, and didn’t drive them responsibly. We smashed up a lot,of cars, buildings, poles, fences, rocks, you name it. That’s why the freaking insurance went sky high on these buggies.

    My high school ride mine had a white vinyl top on it and I wasn't anything that could touch it when I was in school I did Jack it up and put 50s on the back the one thing that it did do that was really weird that I never could understand was if I touch the brakes and brake lights came on but so did the front running lights never could find that ghost but it was kind of a cool thing anyway but that car put me in the back of the seat every time I got in it wonderful days those were

    In many other countries Chevy had to badge the Nova under a differant name because in Portugal and Spain the name Nova translated in their language means "No Go" which had a negative effect on buyers.

    Sure cars might be faster now but For me you can't beat the styling and feel of old school,and not just cars but music and guitars as well

      That motor doesn't even put 300 hp to wheels compared to the modern LS and LT motor it's not that impressive really. Even the LS6 454 only makes about 290whp. I will give it to you that they sounded better though.

    I think I would leave the day-2 speed parts on the car. They were period correct to the car and add a proud racing heritage to it. Besides, they make it look better, sound great, and go faster. Sounds like a pretty good combo to me!

    I would like to see it as it left the factory, but I think the Corvette style side pipes is a great addition plus it should have increased the horsepower a little bit

    Like it just the way it was born out of the dealership. Not a Camaro SS Motor as you say, LT1 was a Camaro Z28 or Corvette motor used for this Yenko.

    If this particular car has a racing history, that should set it apart and allow it to be presented in the configuration it was specced for at the track by its original owner.

      My first two cars were Nova's, a 72' followed by 70. To be honest cars are much quicker today despite looking mundane.

    I think they're more beautiful with the speed parts it takes me back to when I was a child riding my bicycle to the neighborhood someone had a red Nova with side pipes Cragar rims 70s on the front 60s on the back all Shackled traction bars I used to just stare at it

    Sorry, but the LT-1 for 1970, besides the corvette, was only found in the Camaro Z/28, not the SS model.

    Here in Argentina we had the Chevron, which was an out of factory modification sold by Grandio y Lopez Chevrolet oficial dealer. It was a tuned up Nova with body style modifications, but with warranty from the factory. Have you ever heard about it???

    Correction the LT-1 was found under the hood of the Z/28 not "SS". The engine had a compression ratio of 11.0.

    Personally, I love the "day two" look. Especially with all the racing history that goes with this Yenko Nova.
    Those Thrush side pipes, are so cool. I had a set of those on a hot rod 65 Mustang coupe.
    Original cars are great, but this one was a drag car...keep her history for everyone to see.

    Speed parts for sure! I never saw stock looking cars on the street back in the day. Everybody was trying to go faster, The first thing they did was modify them.

    My husband and I were the original owners of this Deuce and feel a need to make a correction to this piece. The car was never officially taken drag racing......well not at the strip anyway!

    Actually, the motor came in a 70 and a half Z28. And the LT1 Corvettes. Not the SS Camaros.

    Put me down in the "day 2" camp all the way! Haha. See, people like to look at these cars as time capsules and rolling history. But the showroom floor doesn't take you back to 1972, those big tires, traction bars, and side pipes take you right back to life when these roamed the streets. Seems like everyone remembers their lives as a commercial rather than what was really going on back then anymore. I'll take the history myself. I'd restore it back to the way it was driven on the street, not the way it was driven off the truck

    Let’s say that someone has had their car since new, same insurance etc etc. Parts with serial numbers get stolen over the years. You end up 40 years later finding your parts in various cars. Is there any way that you can acquire them? Might be a dumb question but I am curious to know how people have handled those types of situations.

    Some say Novas a cheap, throwaway cars unworthy of respect. I deeply disagree. Even non-Yenko Novas are great cars.

      Agree 100%. I never lost a race with my 68 Nova SS 350. It left the competition in the dust!

      I like the 66 Chevy II with the 350 horse L79 327. They were an awesome sleeper. Corvette power in a car that looked like Grandma's grocery getter. That and the 70 Yenko Deuce are definitely my favorite Nova's. The 69 Yenko Super Nova 427 is one of the baddest straight line muscle cars ever made but the weight of the big block definitely hurt their handling. The 68-69 Nova SS396 L78 were beasts too but when it comes to compacts and pony cars I prefer the small block powered versions

      +kanukster your damned right. in 1973 my freind had an AAr. diecided to go for a ride one night after hours of pot smoking, we took off from independence ohio into downtown cleveland. the car was so fast we got there three minutes before we left

    I like the car just as it sits, the day 2 look wasn't bad either but those hideous assed side pipes had to go. I guess they're OK if you like them, I'm just not now nor will I ever be a sidepipe fan, except for Cobras .

      Super coupe it was Don Yenko baby he owned Yenko Chevrolet. these were his dealer option cars he would special order cars then modify them at his dealership to produce the sYc, or Yenko Super Coupe.

    I really dislike burnouts, serves no purpose, hard on the car drive train and tires, not appropriate for a classic car, something a child would do.
