Inga doesnt seem like a man to personally kill a person, what with his negligent stamping of execution warrants. Dhurke probably expected some goons to pop out of the pots and say 'go play with him, boys!'
Poor Apollo lost his dad in a fire, nearly dies himself, separated from his mother, gets injured in one game, loses his best friend shortly before Dhurke, who he hadn’t seen in years, the dad who raised him, and now he’s dead. This guy seriously needs a break and hug
God, Apollo just hoping he’s lying to himself about speculating Dhurke died always hurts to read. And his breakdown. It’s so simple. just a basic head slam to the desk and scream. And yet? It’s so effective to capture the grief of knowing you’ve lost a dad for the second time. Not to mention this is the first time we’ve seen Apollo have a distress animation.
And the fact you, the player, are right there with Apollo as you piece things together yourself. 'This...cant be the answer, right? No, no..I mustve missed something in the evidence.' But it was the truth and you have to present it and face it full force.
The worst thing about this death is not that it happens, it's the fact that Apollo discovers it after having found and appreciated his adoptive father.
something i love about this plot twist is that the game makes it so that it's something that the player figures out for themselves. So the first time one thinks of this possibility they might jump into denial but then evidence and circumstances keep eluding to it so when the game reveals Dhurke's corpse it's a massive gut punch.
What gets me the most is Nahyuta's reaction to Dhurke's death when you realize he never hated his father nor the revolution in the first place. It was all because he was forced into becoming their enemy just so he could protect the people he loved. So you can see he was in absolute disbelief and devastation by Dhurke's death! He never properly reunited with Dhurke as his true self and he never got to see his father be with his family again after 14 years 😢😢
You know, I hated how the game tried so hard to make me like Dhurke. He comes out of nowhere, is trying so hard to be a good dad and stuff after years of non-presence for his sons... But still, I started liking the character. AND THEN THIS HAPPENED. I HATE IT. Still makes me cry today ffs
when they theorize how amara might use his spirit to escape, i thought it was tragic but i wasnt really touched by that then ema came and said he was dead before he even flew to US and i immediately teared up lol
I feel like that's on purpose. Apollo doesn't forgive him at first for dumping him in America and splitting, even if it was for his own safety. So he's noticably cold to him at first. It isn't until the case progresses that Apollo opens up to his father again.
I think Apollo’s breakdown would’ve been more sad if his scream was muffled by his face being in the desk. It would’ve shown how great his despair was by it being heard throughout the room despite it being muffled.
Years ago, my grandpa passed away just as I was going through this case. He was my dad in lack of my real one, and it's the biggest pain I had ever felt. After the funeral, I saw how this case ended and, suffice to say the emotional weight that this case has on it's own increased exponentially. Spirit of Justice is the best subtitle they could have given this game, it came right when I needed it the most.
fyi: Apollo just got handed a photo of his dead adoptive father who he spent the most amount of time with. (his biological father died when he was just a baby) OH AND NAHYUTA LOST HIS BIOLOGICAL FATHER
I had the realization once Maya was shocked that Dhurke was accused if murder. I know Maya freaks out easily but it seemed off that she would be suprised that Dhurke got arrested meaning she obviously knew something that the others and viewer didn't. And then all the pieces came together with Dhurke saying he had a secret he couldn't share and I was devastated.
Seeing Apollo this down... only makes it so much sweeter that he gets back up.... using the words of Phoenix (and by extension, Mia) and Dhurke to make him a much stronger individual. Apollo is fuckin awesome.
Inga wanted a coup, Dhurke wanted a revolution. They both shared the same goal of ending Ga’ran’s reign. It is real unfortunate that Inga ends up killing Dhurke and at the same time sealing his own fate.
Inga's ambition is a lot more shady than Dhurke's vision because he wanted to usurp the throne and use the Royal Guard to suppress the revolution by himself and claim himself as a hero just like his title of Minister of Justice implies. Since the Khurain's Judicial System is basically a kangaroo court where common sense is thrown out of the window, Inga can practically get away with it.
What sad about this scene, in the Japanese version, Dhurke shared a voice with Latios from pokemon Hero... it's like seeing Latios sacrifice again.....
My only gripe with this scene is how Phoenix is utterly baffled by the revelation. You'd think Phoenix would be like "Hm, yes" because well...he's been theough this type of incidents and in AA4 he was like this super cunning mastermind. Dude should have foreseen this!!
@@omega197 Fr. Maybe Phoenix shouldn't have been there at all? Let Apollo have his moment without devolving Phoenix's character. Idk what do you think?
@@eyebrows0408 apollo definitely handles this case well by his own even if phoenix wasnt there. I think they are trying to experiment of Phoenix being the sidekick at the court for once. Like he did it at first case of AA4, but this time, its the regular phoenix we all know since AA1.
In all fairness, in Apollo Justice, most of the events in his control were ones he'd put a lot of effort and attention into controlling and puzzling out over time, whereas the information about Dhurke's blood was found by Apollo less than a day before the trial while Phoenix was investigating elsewhere. The premise of SoJ on the developers' part was to take Phoenix out of a familiar environment where he had control so he could be blindsided again.
Especially since it was Maya doing the channeling. Like she knew and it would make sense that she let Phoenix in on it. It still kinda preserves the idea that Phoenix is just this mastermind
I finished this game recently and I was told by a friend during this trial that this is the most insane trial in the game, probably in the series. I was going through the motions... ...and then at exactly 1:26, I understood. From right there, I realized the insanity and this wasn't not your average Ace Attorney final trial.

@@queencancerous5332 Case 1 is also the best tutorial case next to AJ's. Stakes and tension never felt as high before that, even if the mystery and killer weren't as compelling.
This last case is so weird, the first part with the whole Maya kidnapping is absolute dogshit, literally copying Engarde's trial but a lot worse, literally no hype..... but then somehoww they go to Khurain and this happens.... Man this case is crazy good one, if the first part was bearable it'd be easily the best of the whole franchise.

I don't think the first half was all that bad. Yeah, the whole thing with Maya being kidnapped again was pretty boring and just an uninteresting copy of Engarde's trial, but it's what allowed this case to have a fight against Phoenix Wright himself, which is really cool in my opinion. Coming back to Kurain Village was fun, the whole cave exploration was pretty epic, Dhurke was a great companion, Sarge is a great one-off character, and Paul Atishon is just hilarious.

I realize it's a sad plot twist, but goddamn. How fast was Inga to pull that gun that Dhurke didn't even notice it until after he was shot
It's called shock. He was in absolute disbelief until he touched it himself. It's a common thing in fiction
