My strategy is the 2 gallon sawyer bag, filter, then hose. What you do is, you hang it on a tree, then balance the smart water bottle on the ground with the hose dangling in it. Then you forget about it, let it overflow, and it tips over. The final step is you just stare at it and feel shame.
I use a Steripen along with an older platypus system with a carbon filter also. However theres too many pieces with this kit. Im going to try your syrem keeping it simple. I bought a really cool "brown filter bag" from England . Its for highly turbidity waters as a pre filter bag before anything else. I also carry disinfection tablets if needed.
This is nuts. This setup has been the best one ever since CNOC came up with these wide mouth opening water bags. I know I've had mine for at least 4-5 years already, and I got them because someone already presented this combination on TH-cam after having used it themselves for a year or 2, and that's even knowing back then that the CNOC water bags tended to leak (2 of the 4 I own leak) and even crack (1 of the 4 I own cracked) at the neck of the screw cap. I still keep and use them with my Sawyer minis. THAT is how old this setup is.
Great tip! Good to know there are other options to the Sawyer bags that come with the squeeze. I had 2 Sawyer bags burst on a backcountry hunt, not only leaving me without a water filter option, but splashing water into my clean Nalgene bottle. I switched to a BeFree filter using a Hydrapak Seeker 3L dirty bag, the flow rate is awesome. However, your system seems pretty sweet as well.
Oh no! Well obviously you made it out without dying of dehydration haha I do think the Befree has its merits but still the versatility of the sawyer is hard to beat. Whatever works tho!
Good setup I have been using that exact setup for about 4 years now however the sawyer filter is not always able to pass water even though i take care of it, I have had to replace it a couple times. Thinking B free filter. As for Cnoc bag it is hands down # 1 in my opinion.
How do you backflush the Sawyer without a syringe? You briefly mentioned that at the end, but didn't demonstrate it. Could you elaborate on how that would work?
I was just looking at some pics online. It looks like you might be able to but I'm not 100% sure. That lifestraw filters about 2,000 liters whereas the Saywer filters 100,000. The lifestraw looks pretty cool, lightweight and not too expensive
Currently there is no better system on the market. I have used this exact set up for two years. It rocks. PRO tip: take an extra bottle cap from any 28mm bottle poke a bunch of holes in it with a hot needle and screw that little puppy on for a SHOWER Kit😮 😊lol😂
Oh, I see how it is..... no shoutouts for the guy that introduced you to the wizard ring, and the beauty and ease of using it for gravity filtration! 🖕🖕🖕
@CascadeBackcountry when Kamala Trump is elected Vice Dictator Supreme Esquire, they will not stand for this insolence! I just wrote a letter, you're getting probed for sure, dude!

Haha well hopefully when you're way out in the woods, there's not too many people to see your shame 😆
Yep. The Sawyer squeeze, blue coupler and Cnoc Vecto are the ultimate combination.
@charliedango2664 heck yeah!!
Perfect timing. I was literally researching water filters and this popped up in my subscriptions 45 min ago.
Problem solved!! Haha
Yep, Sawyer all the way
Heck yeah!

Sounds like you got a pretty sweet setup. I haven't used a steripen in years. Probably time I gave em a second look. Thanks for watchin!

It's a great system. Glad you're enjoying all 4 of yours 😀

I've been using the sawyer mini and it's been working out ok.
Thanks for the video
Nice! I had that for a few seasons. Works great
Good setup

The sawyer does eventually slow down. I've heard the be free is even worse though. This setup has never failed me so it's my go to
This is what I use you can’t beat it. I’ve used the same filter setup for two years now. Have to have the cnoc bag tho there is no other way
Nice! Yeah I agree

You just put your water bottle full of clean water on the dirty water intake side and squeeze. Easy peasy
@@CascadeBackcountry ah, makes sense
You gotta have that little blue ring though
Sawyer for me also.
Good call!
Anybody know if you can do the same with the LifeStraw Peak Series Solo by unscrewing the sippy side?

Very handy indeed.
Keep up the GREAT videos Sir!
@@ANo-qo4wk will do!
I am the life straw filter manufacturer.😀
@@Orangefiltration haha how's that goin?
The Grayl Geopress is the king of filters. Everything else is backup to it.
Bro......
@@CascadeBackcountry Bro?
Broooooooo............
@@CascadeBackcountry Yes?
The Grayl Geopress is heavy, bulky, and expensive compared to the CNOC and Sawyer combo, but to each his own:)

This madman is clearly hallucinating and verbally abusing me
