l had to watch it again, and again, and again, 1 for the subtitles, 2 for actually looking at the process, and 3 for the total pleasure thank you , you MAD swiss company 👏👏👏👏👏👏
I have always wondered how an enamel dial was made. Thank you for showing us this beautiful process. I realize that besides skill, you require precision hand dies as well as chemical powders and a compact furnace as well.
My late father was a clock and watch maker. I inherited all his tools. I found a small tin that is labeled white clock face enamel. When I opened the tin, it looks like white chunks of stone. Like small white gravel pieces. The enamel tin is very very old. Not sure how old but i can tell you that you cant buy it anymore. Do you have any thoughts on how it's used in a small home clock shop? Luckily I also have all my dads clock and watch repair service manuals. I really want to set up a shop and get into amateur clock repair. I also have an antique grandfather clock from 1780/1790.
Very nice story and I really hope you will be able to make the most of what your father left you. And be patient, because it takes a long long time to get proficient, but it's all about perseverance and trial and errors. All the very best to you
You think you can't buy it? Enamel is TERRIBLY common in the real world. You still get dinner plates for camping made of it and cast iron pots coated in it. I know a place you can take whole bathtubs to and they will do it in enamel new. That kind of enamel is different from but related to the enamel paint in spraycans.
3:19 - Noticed it was Hermes watch dial, one of the coolest minimalistic ones. Didn't think before that making dials is such a complicated task, looks like you can't just paint a piece of plastic white and be done with it....
Forgot to ask you during EPHJ last month, that if the enamel dial is really flatened by pushing it on a flat surface after sintering in the oven. Thanks a lot!
If by any chance you still monitor this old post - what is the manufacturer of that pad printing (tampography) press they are using to print the indices?
Video extrêmement intéressante, je ne connaissais pas du tout la technique. En revanche la musique est trop forte tout au long de la vidéo, pendant les explications. Ça perturbe un peu. Mais top vidéo 👍
It bothers me, when the handles of the watches don't line up with the watch dials. :/ To me a sign of a bad movement. No matter ho expensive the watch is. I love it. Because this way, you can't fake it.
1Sanantoniomatute but the parts inside are Chinese...if u think all Swiss watches are made in Switzerland then you have been fooled. Most if not all of the Swiss brands outsource to China

Don’t speak French so I paused a lot but that helped me enjoy the amazing craftsmanship involved. You should be commended for such practiced skills!!!
And you can count on us for many more of these coming! Thanks for your comment and best to you
I never knew. Most fascinating process, this. Gotta love the "whiteness". Another informative video from you guys.
+youtubister Thanks, love to do them!!!

Those watch dials will still be legible 1000 years from now.
Thanks again for the great video guys. I've never seen the process in detail like this before. Amazing.
+Timur Hafouz Yes, it's rather cumbersome!!!!

Happy you liked this and enamelling is really a wonderful craft (and a useful one!!!)
Hello sir
Hello sir
Fascinating insight into this process, didn't realise so much skill went into making the cheaper Hermes watches.

It is funny how he says it!
Love the attention to detail! 😍🤌🏼🔥
Awesome share
Thank you so much 🙂
When you add the powder to one side and then flip it over to powder the other, what mechanism keeps the enamel powder in place? Static cling?
Thank you for the very informative, interesting video.
Beautiful inside look! Thanks

Par excellence
Just one question, how to remove / clean water stains on the dial? Thanks for your help.

I didn't quite get it, what is black thing used to print numerals on dial? What type of lacquer it is?
Do you have a class that I can take on glass enamel application?
What kind of enamel are they using? its so soft
成る程、 こんな風に作るんですね。
Curious about the white coming from arsenic .. wouldn't the powder be toxic to be inhaled ?
Do or can you make a replacement dial for American made pocket watch? 36S HAMILTON WWI NAVY TORPEDO POCKET WATCH
thank you
Magnificent!
I wonder if you could not just dip a backing plate into enamel and voila!
What is the name of the company who makes the dials
What company it is? As i understand its not Hermes. They make dials for Hermes. Thanks
This company is called Donzé Cadran. All the best
Wow....it is impressive....😍
Beautiful.

+dit bot (ditbot) I see we have a specialist ;) And yes we will go further in these details!

Watch dials are made out of "animal"? I never knew.🤔
Enamel is a more drawn out word than animal. It was a good laugh. Meanwhile in china.... DON'T ASK WHERE THOSE LEATHER STRAPS COME FROM 🐱🐷🐈🐖🐕🐶🐁🐀
Apologies French is not understood
0:11 Where are the animals he mentioned at the start of the video ?
the sound is not good I am quite disappointed

🙏🙏🙏🙏💛💛💛
Lol. No one working on the dials at Hermés actually wears a Hermés watch :D
Will Frank because hermes is a shit watch waaaay to expensive for what it is worth. I rather spent 15k on a patek phillipe than 3k on hermes
@@quokkamode1484 no, it‘s because this company is not Hermes, but a different company making parts FOR Hermes.
traditional art of watchmaking-beautifol
Dies out of animal.... oooh that french accent!
40% rejection rate is pretty high.

Freak pizza process 😊
So, turns out Hermes watches are more legit than Chinese sweatshop watches, euphemistically called "micro-brand".

“Dialz made out of animal”
try that pizza!
dial made out of animal???? WTF????
hahahaha ;)
Not the best watches though. Better off buying a nice Omega.
Enamel not animal 😂
Enamel cracks way too easily, even from day to day wearing.
awful dial. seems like cheep china manufactured
Frenchie can't explain a damn thing
