They are doing route proving flights just like the Finnair A350 and BA A380... They flight was 30 mins long and pretty full - and not even cheap - so i think they also made some profits with it ;)
3-4-3 is maximum i guess ;) The seats are comfortable and the legroom is standard - depending on your size if thats enough for 11 hour flight to LAX for example!
I agree...3-4-3 is so very bad. Same with the Dreamliner and her 3-3-3. I always fly 767 or A330 and their 2-4-2. On a long haul flight, it makes a HUGE difference. There's simply no way I could tolerate 8 to 14 hours in a middle seat with limited bathroom access.

They flew the 777 on many shorthaul routes for crew training ;) That's why i took my chance to get onboard their brand new 777 in february.
