Ah yes, the episode where I lost all respect for Dr. Phil and realized that he simply is a fraud himself. Imagine exposing scams on your show "helping people" and then you bring in John Edwards one of the biggest scammers and fraudsters in history. Giving him a whole load of credibility to anyone that respects Dr. Phil. Shows Phil's only concern is ratings and drama.

@Ian Valmont cold readings isn't being a psychic.. You were fooled. Psychic readings are different each time, if you were mindful you'd see he uses the same method each time. Most people are unmindful, everyone has unmindful moments some way more than others naturally and practicing mindfulness meditation in moment and sitting as long as you can a day sitting starting 5 mins, recommend Lock Kelly and than Sam Harris. Loch Kelly has a channel on yt unalike Sam and he taught me more, which I found Loch Kelly first.

@@dividoguy No he's not. Thats the funny part. Notice he got the first person wrong and then immediately switched the subject to some "fire story". He then noticed 2 women in the back talking to each other and then figured they were probably amazed by his prediction of a "fire story". It was only then that he started to focus in on a detail and the woman starts telling him the details of the fire but he takes the credit. This is all in the first minute and half of the clip. I saw it and I'm no expert at debunking psychics but it wasn't hard to see.
This is known as cold reading, its nonsense.
The doubters will NEVER believe a story I know about John.
His studio was in the same building as my office and also a parking garage. Long story short,, they were filming the show. He was trying to give a family against a back wall a reading and NONE of the info was correct. Someone on his staff guessed that maybe the info belonged to someone on the OTHER side of the wall. That happened to be the parking garage. Turns out all the info was 100% accurate for an attendant that worked there, whom I personally knew.
SO, he wasn't even in the audience, and he got a reading. He wasn't a plant or an actor. He literally was approached by staff of the show. He then validated all the info that John thought was for that family. TRUE story!

I agree. My niece's friends decided last minute to attend this show. They were friends of the pregnant who was 5 months' pregnant along with her husband. The devil dismembered them both and yes, there was a fire. All true. The friends insisted they went last minute and the Dr. Phil show did not know their connection to my niece.

I just saw this episode. It was disappointing that John Edwards turned to some unknowns in the audience rather than address the case at hand about the man convicted of the double murder of his parents. All he told the double homicide relatives that there's something about DNA. Then Dr. Phil used up time with his own reading. The whole show was supposed to be about the mystery of the double homicide, so why wasn't more addressed about that ? Nothing was every answered about the double homicide. Usually when a victim is stabbed as many as 19 times that is personal. A stranger wouldn't do that.
My niece, who was the pregnant woman that was murdered along with her husband, made herself loud and clear...I am here, listen to my story! Tell my Mom I know what happened! So the family members he was supposed to "read" were put to the side a bit because my niece was coming through. This is not a joke, but was real. Then You Tube cut the rest of the show off, so I didn't see the ending of both stories connecting in some way.

I get the feeling you believe JE has a supernatural gift Jo. Simple question, what if you are wrong? Watch this back and tell me how you feel about what he's doing if he doesn't have a gift and he knows it? You can tell the people he is speaking to want to believe, are emotionally invested and are looking to help / reading meaning in what JE says. Now how do you feel about what you are looking at? Is it harmless or manipulative? You can continue to believe JE is supernatural going forward, but watch it again and imagine if he isn't. Obviously people are invested - otherwise why would they listen or go to him. You would need to ask them if what he does is ‘harmless or manipulative’, I certainly have my opinion on that too. There are a lot of charlatans out there, there’s no question of that. This subject is always a contentious one (even within my own family), but I would in no way waste my precious time watching or listening to someone who’s beliefs and actions are diametrically opposed to mine and am surprised by others that do. That was the main thrust of my comment, I hope that helps you. You take care too.

I understand where you are coming from in not understanding why people would be watching or investing time in something that they are diametrically opposed to. I can't speak for everyones motivations but for me, it's always about checking my own views and bias. The fact that you believe some operators are fakes and believe others to be real, shows me you are clearly open to critical thinking. That's a good thing. There are far too many people who don't engage in critical thinking and live surrounded by echo chambers that reinforce their news and views to the point where they cannot see another person's point of view. I always try to ask 'what if I'm wrong' and try to see why someone believes something I don't. You acknowledge that there are frauds in this field and I can only assume you think that's a bad thing, as it gives false hope or has some kind of financial cost? Again, you may believe in JE and that might serve you really well. However, others here might want to learn why people believe in JE the way you do to understand another person's perspective, or feel the need to warn people if they have a belief that JE is not authentic. I only really watch JE when this topic gets raised or if he pops on the screen, but it is a fascinating subject (for me). I will say this. I think John asks questions - like most mediums do when reading for large audiences to make sure that another spirit isn’t stepping forward. Bc if the information doesn’t resonate at all with the person he’s speaking with then it’s clear that it is meant for someone else.
Also this information he receives has nothing to do with his life. This is all centered around spirit/sitter’s life. So naturally it would go like “I’m getting a younger female with a Sk sounding name. Why would I get that?” Or “Does that resonate?”
Like in this example, the people knew the baby had been named Skylar. Spirit would not waste the energy to say “We named the baby Skylar.” - only give a reminder. John and any medium acts as a telephone.

Do some research on cold reading. It is very effective and can be extremely convincing. Please, don’t put too much faith in these people. This world can suck you in, and unfortunately they can’t help you if you’re experiencing any real grief. Best of luck to you
