Bea's passing just hurt me so much I was so upset. Then came Rue's. Im forever grateful that these ladies have influenced my life the way they have, ive watched the show all my life and I just turned 25. I modeled my sense of humor after Dorothy who was my favorite. Alot of the things Dorothy would say, I would say.

It is sad but their legacy will live on forever. Betty White is still going strong I'm happy to say. There was even a practical joke that went around on Facebook etc, containing a News Site with the Headline "Betty White Dyes Peacefully at Home"... I was initially shocked, but what I, and others failed to see at first was the Word "Dyes".... It was about the story that Betty White's Hair is not natural Blond and she "Dyes" it at her Home. It's quite funny.

I discovered this TV show after Betty White passed away, then I started to search on TH-cam about this show. After watching several episodes, I felt sadness coz all of them was passed away and I will never have chance to see them or see them again on the TV. I was born in 90's but i started to love this show and all of the girls especially Dorothy's character 😁. There's an episode that I was laughing so hard and got my eyes to tears. The 4 girls was a legend. RIP Estelle, Bea, Rue and Betty. 😢

As a child I watched this show with my Mom and now I watch it with my twin one year old Daughters. They will come running when they hear it start up and those famous words and song start "thank you for being a friend." It was fond memories for me growing up and now it's getting new fond memories to add to it. Just love this show, and these ladies. They are friends to more than they will ever know.

It just doesn't get any better than "Golden Girls", "catching lightning in a bottle" was what happened. What amazes me as one who was a teen-20's upon initial airing to now being 49, I NEVER tire of watching shows, ever. I keep several on my DVR just for that "comfort food TV" that it is, was and always shall be. I've seen every episode at least 6 times, many I've seen 20+ times. To me it's that good and just never ceases to entertain & comfort me. Thank you for posting/sharing this, I really enjoyed behind the scenes of one of the best shows on TV ever, by far!! ❤️👑🎭 Entertainment Royalty, beloved...

The flaw in the Golden Palace script was that the three remaining golden girls had to give up their original home. That transition was crucial to the comfort zone of the actors and the writers. With their old home intact, they could have added a new member of the household, like a character of Wanda Sykes or Whoopie Goldberg or Rosie Perez who will also be working with them in the hotel. That would have been really interesting and challenging.

The golden palace could have been great... The writing was a bit weak...too many characters and not enough distraction from the fact Dorothy is missing. Should have opened up with Sophia jet skiing Miami beach, blanch sun bathing and picking up the cabana boy, while rose is trying to manage the hotel. 😜

@110245518390841869666 Bea DID NOT hate Betty. Bea and Betty absolutely adored each other. The only thing was that Bea was very serious on set and preferred to take the roles seriously. Betty always wanted to be energetic and funny so that occasionally interfered with how Bea wanted the atmosphere to be. That's it! Besides that little small nitpick, both of them admired each other greatly.
Oh and btw, there have been some interviews with the ladies all together, squashing the theory that they never did because "Bea hated Betty".

It is sad that Lifetime took The Golden Girls off their network in 2007. The Lifetime episodes had less editing done on them and also Lifetime would cut to two commercial breaks. When The Golden Girls was picked up by the Hallmark channel in March 2007 the episodes were horribly edited would and still show about three to four commercial breaks during an episode. Then Logo and TVland also got The Golden Girls, but their networks show same editing as the Hallmark versions. Lifetime said in 2007 that the show had run its course with them and that is why they choose not to renew their The Golden Girls contract.

The sad thing is that the Golden Palace was actually quite good. (The adjustment to get rid of the kid character really brightened things up.) It just wasn't a great show like Golden Girls. If it hadn't been a spin-off, it probably would've sold better.

I discovered this show in one of my psychology courses and my professor told us the general plot of the show and I told myself, "Yes, this is a perfect time to take a nap" but I was laughing from the very second she pressed play. Golden girls is just one of those shows you can relate to, whether your 15, 20 or even 80. There is no age limit. Just a Perfect show! I watch all the re-runs every weekend! =)

Your psychology teacher showed you all Golden Girls?! Haha! I sincerely hope that wasn't in college when you were shelling out big bucks for your tuition! :) Nothing against Golden Girls, of course. I do love the show.

@@jennhoff03 - I can see where certain episodes would be a good vehicle for discussion in a psychology class. They dealt with real world problems that people dealt with in their own lives. Discussing different approaches and how them may or may not work is part of psychology.
One of the big issues is that many problems that people might have are not age specific.

This show was quite popular in Arabic speaking countries during the late 90s, I always got a kick out of any funny line Sophia used to say.
