Sir, thank you so much! I’d been looking for a way into this information revolution, but I want to be responsible about how I go about that. It’s nice to see someone on the other side break it down and list out all the potential pitfalls. I’m not made for the working world as it is. I’ve tried trad work as a young teacher (25) and I’m done. Binging this playlist.

Great video and message! It's evident that you've put a lot of thought and passion into this topic. Your explanation of the "great dilemma" and how to navigate it through the "circle of serving" is both insightful and practical. While you've shared valuable insights on merging passion and profit, could you also share a personal anecdote where you've faced this great dilemma in your own life and how you navigated it? We'd love to hear about a real-world example from your experiences! 😊

Exceptional video with a powerful message! It's clear that you've invested significant thought and enthusiasm into this subject. Your elucidation of the "grand dilemma" and strategies for maneuvering it via the "circle of service" is both perceptive and actionable.

I love how you put your idea into a very simple format. When you serve yourself, you learn, and when you serve others, you teach them what you learned when you were serving yourself. Beautiful.

I love serving others, like most people who this video connects with. I quit full time live music because I didn’t serve myself, and only others. When I made music from home for the sake of making art, I felt like I was serving myself again and I felt complete.
Since we had our call, I started putting my focus into helping others with their music while serving my own needs, and this perfect balance has actually started gaining traction on my channel. Not much, mind you, but the reward is the connection with people who support my content, at the same time I’m nearing channel monetization.
I’m really glad you brought up these phases, I can attest 100% that the points in this video have made a major difference in my craft, outlook, and mental. Thanks for sharing as always, Steve!

Im realizing how my life has fallen into this cycle wothout me knowing
    2012-2017 serving mysepf through university
2017-2024 serving others through working 2 full time jobs
I didnt realize why my burnout was so high until i understood the idea of needing to serve myself. We sold our house and are moving in with fanily so i can try and shake things up in my career. 12 years living expenses saved up just in case! (From the sale of the home)

I think this rhetoric could be co-opted by MLMs, so I think it could be important to add some ethical guardrails to this new way of thriving in the information economy! Just an idea for another podcast in the series :)

12:44 I agree. I would add that I think you have to serve yourself first, then others. In the same way that you can't jump in the water and save a drowning person until you put on your own lifejacket first. Otherwise the drowning person will drag you under with them.

Hey I don’t often comment but I just wanted to chime in and give some encouragement. This content is fantastic. I wish more people thought this way. I’ve been going on a very similar journey for the last several years and am hard pressed to give any critique. Your framework is excellent and I’m sharing this with those closest to me who I think need to hear this. Reading the Sovereign Individual a few years ago really forced me to change my personal frameworks. Anyway, keep it up man! If you do another chat with viewers, I think it’d be excellent to talk for a bit. All the best.

I've really enjoyed engaging with your ideas in this series. I feel I am well on my way to becoming a sovereign individual as you're defined it, but the part I don't quite understand is how to actually monetize that in a way that is authentic. You mention the free marketplace of information, but I am having trouble believing much demand is out there for people to pay me for what I have learned about myself. I guess I'd like to hear more about the logistics of this part of the process. Thanks Steve!

I saw your channel before but saw you as another one of those channels that rubbed me the wrong way so I ignored it, even with my animal brain wanting to click on something baiting for my attention. Time goes by and a lot of other stuff has influenced me and now I’m here and actually find your framework content and the way you resonate with me captivating so I’m giving it a try. No offense if I’m coming off egotistical or rude, at a time in my life where I’m miserable and feelings of suffering and hopelessness, I’ll take anything and do anything just to find my way. This video exonerates the idea I found of “being in service of others” and balancing that out with finding a stable living is interesting so thank you for putting this video out for someone like me to come across. I’m gonna try and binge a few more, after this video im interested in your monk mode approach, I’ve heard mixed theories and ideas on the monk mode practice, even people not having one clear goal or vision on what monk mode should be other than focusing on yourself by following a set of values and beliefs to keep you centered

Thank you so much for your work and sharing this with us! Watching the videos in this playlist actually led me to doing a deep meditation and coming out the other side with a very specific idea for how I can be myself and share it with the world and hopefully end up making money doing it. I'm so excited to do this. Thanks again! Very powerful stuff and I can't really put perfectly into words what this means to me.

Hi Stephen, it's Damian here, we talked over Zoom a couple of weeks ago.
Thanks for speaking with me! The point that resonated most with me in your video "Financial Independence is a Huge Trap" was solving the trilemma instead of focusing on financial freedom.
I actually resigned from my job not long after we spoke (my decision, not my recommendation to others) so I could take a break, as well as spend time building income streams that could solve the trilemma better. I'll have to go back to work eventually though, but decided I needed my time and energy back.
Right now, I'm trying to grow this TH-cam channel, and I'm growing with each new video. Any videos or feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

Maslow's hierarchy of needs was appropriated from a tribal community and adjusted to fit individualism. The balance of serving yourself and others is the essence of this hiearchy of needs within a tribal community. I think this lack of community and depth to society is why a cabin in the woods is so appealing, specifically shedding all of society's toxic conditioning and socialization.

Hi, Stephen - I wasn’t able to get on the books for the chat with you - but I’ve been following your story since the finance days, and I am going through something similar in my own narrative - my question is, how do you decide what to share with others? I am constantly hearing people say that what each of us go through in life is enough to share and the information will find its audience, but I am constantly unsure as to what topic aka niche I want to commit talking about, and therefore I spend so much time learning all sorts of things with the hopes that someday I’ll find something that I love talking about so much that I can literally talk about for years on TH-cam - is this the wrong approach? Do you advise me to just talk about what I know and pivot along the way? Or keep searching for the thing I’d love talking about for a long time? As always great content, thanks for putting your thoughts out into the world.

Brother you need to write a book if you haven't already. This channel of info is the closest to what some can call a "life guide". Including purpose , self insight , relationships , finances and more. Keep up the content ! Much love
