A Masterpiece that somehow became underrated over time due to a loud minority.
Dialogue and story telling needed some work, which is why you need the Alternate Destiny mod.

Err, the game is not that great. I am at the end and there's not a lot of story or talking at all. It's very dry and bland. I see why people don't like the game. If it was so popular, it would have gotten a full remake like ff7.
@@kevinburke1325 10 million copies sold is huge. For a non-live service game (prior to FF14/16), FF8 was the second most profitable game in the series. Second only to FF7, which was at 14 million copies sold (with a 2 year advantage).
Keep in mind that these numbers should not be compared to recent games which eclipse them because the industry itself is completely different now. But for games of 1997 and 1999, they were giants of the industry. FF8 literally made 270 million dollars (adjusted for inflation) in the first week of release.
The game is huge and very popular. Got massively high reviews and won the hearts of countless FF fans, myself included. The problem is that FF8 as a subject matter is far harder to latch onto from a mass marketing/following perspective. Not to mention that it's quite a complicated narrative.
It's not for nothing that FFXVI has taken so many cues from FF8.
There will never be a game im more nostalgic about. After 24 years i still remember the first day i saw this game in a supermarket. I was so confused by everything. First GF summon was a blast. The music. The landing in Dollet. I love this game so much. Sadly it gets little to none love by Square.
Man I did read few words on an old PSX magazine and with words like "fights" I thought it had fights like Tekken or something ahahah. So when I found it in a display case in a shop I was like why not (with the intriguing logo and nothing else in the cover...). Little did I know what I was up to and that it would be the best game of my childhood and the gate to other FF chapters as well.

Why are these backgrounds just so good and clean, and why isn't a large company like Square Enix capable of doing this for the remaster? Don't tell me they lack on resources. I love it when fans do better things with their favorite games than the developer itself. This game deserves a full remake more than any other game in the series.
I love all this still happening after 24 years! And also love modding this game!
This is the first FF game and the first JRPG game i play for me.. Since then JRPG is my favourite game genre. I especially love their beautiful world, beautiful story and touching BGM.
Shame on you Sqeenix for not releasing a proper remaster.
I just bought FF8 on steam playing it again. It will always have a special place in my heart as I have spent countless hours as a kid back then playing it. My dad convinced me back then that he could open up my PS1 and check how many hours Ive played to scare me from playing it all day LOL

There's already an equivalent for Final Fantasy VII, you're just not looking hard enough. Try searching Satsuki Yatoshi FFVII and you'll find it. Also while you're at it, look for the mod loader that is leagues better than what FFIX has right now called 7th Heaven.
Does anybody had this issue in prison, when u have to rescue Squall, going down you get shots from down below and Irvine saves u? Suddenly it crashes for me, Irvine appears only his clothes, not any of his body

Where could I get the mod to make the inside of the maps look prettier? Because I have mods installed. But the interior of Balamb Garden and other places looks all pixelated.

I am not a fan of the new in-game model for Squall... Have there been any developments in the scene with modders somehow managing to replace the current model with a higher poly count version of the original one?? Or another version based of how Squall look in the CG cutscenes?

There are various mods, this video itself uses one. They only change the texture, for what I know. Changing the mesh itself is technically complex.
Can someone please help me. I have not been able to find any proof that ragnarok works on remastered version? But this is showing different? Does anyone have the answer to this? Thank you.
It does work, but you have to download the correct version of course, for Steam Remastered.

Games story inspired my first dnd campaign I been running I feel in love as a child with final fantasy story telling. And that they all are the main characters in there own way. Thought me Alot how to tell a compelling story.

Well, you should actually play the game itself, it's one of the best RPGs I've ever played. You can use emulators.
Do they have controller rumble support?
The problem with the Steam remastered is that it emulates the PC version, so not only you don't have rumble, but the analog sticks are treated as arrow buttons, so in the fiels Squall moves robotically.

Indeed. Yet another case of modders doing better than software companies.
Keeping improved versions of the original music would be better. Because it wasn't just the game play we enjoyed, but the music as well.
