Just done the interview for the first time , i felt it was easier than i expected, doesnt mean i passed it we'll find out in 5 weeks but with more experience and such knowledge, I'll pass. Thanks
Hi Jac, My partner recommended your videos, so i watched one for each of the behaviours in my civil service interview. Im happy to say i got offered the job i was going for! Thank you
These are great videos Jac thank you. In 25 years into my civil service career and have an interview for a level G7 move tomorrow these videos provide some excellent clarity..thanks again
Great videos Jack. I've always had problems with "how would you influence others and did you learn from the situation". Picked up lots of nuggets from these videos. Going for a few civil service roles at the moment. The situational judgement tests can be tricky
Just wanted to say thanks for your videos. I have just got my HO and I found your videos extremely helpful and really prepared me for the interview. I will definitely recommend your channel to colleagues
Really helpful video - what helped me get a job in the civil service was the "civil service success" course made by actual recruiters in the civil service - it has all the behaviour and situational judgement answers and examples along with what to expect at interview if that helps.
Hello Jac, I am hoping you read and respond to this please. But first of all thank you for these videos, I have learnt a lot from them and very grateful. My question is how do answer these questions for a customer service role within the civil service. 1)Tell me about the time when you have had to make an objective and impartial decision. 2) Are you someone who enjoys seeking out information? How does one go about answering this questions pls.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience and skills. Could you please produce one for “Managing a Quality Service” and one for “Leadership”, too? Highly appreciated. 😊
So my husband has a strong accent how can you help him? He excels in every other civil service test bar the oral interview- I wondered if his accent is holding him back
Jac, I have a question for you. I get asked this question a lot. It is not the question that I find problematic but the word 'stakeholder'. I understand the dictionary meaning, but I am struggling to situate the word stakeholder in a civil service role. Who is a stakeholder?
Good question, I always think of it as anyone who has any interest in the work you are doing. You have many levels of stakeholder. Some are purely just interested and have no responsibility - this could be another team in the office. Then you have those who are very interested as they are responsible for the work - this could be the director who has to present your work to the board/management. I suggest you look up RACI stakeholder mapping. This will give you an idea of how to think of stakeholders. I hope that helps.
I have a question (have my SJT tests soon!!). In situations where you hear from someone else that a colleague has had issues working with you in the past, do you address this and mention these comments to the person, or just let it go and be really approachable and open the next time you work together? Which one aligns more with CS behaviours?
Cheers Jac. If you could do Managing a Quality Service before my interview next week that would be great :D But seriously thanks for all the CS content you've uploaded so far.
Jumping in on this as I also do videos on this I’ve had to cover that question so can do that I am an ex probation officer who worked in Criminal service. Great content Jac :-)
I have a job interview coming up with NPS (Civil Service) - Engaging People on Probation Manager. It's a Level 3 HEO grade. Skills needed are good communication skills, ability to work together with others, the ability to keep sensitive information confidential. Which of the various Civil Service Behaviours will be prioritised? Also for Working Together as a strength question. Do you concentrate on one individual strength i.e. Organisation or do you talk about multiple strengths i.e. Leader, Organiser or Communication etc. Any insight, help or info appreciated. Is the question designed to show what you can bring to the role?
Hi Jac! Thank you so much for this guidance. I have an interview where they are asking 6 behaviour questions. Can behaviour questions be asked in two ways? One as a situational based question and/or a competency (previous experience) question? Thank you!

I've never actually been asked that behaviour so can't really comment on it sorry. I hope the interview goes well and thanks for the kind words :)

These are great thank you! Do you have any examples of the leaderships questions?
I'll try and think of some for leadership :)

Thanks for your videos! Do you recommend using the same examples used in the written application, if applicable?
yup, just seen you cover that in the FAQ video! thanks
Do you have something that covers managing a quality service
I do, but it's in my free Skillshare course. Link in the comments and description :)
Hi Jac!
Thank you so much for this guidance. I have an interview where they are asking 6 behaviour questions.
Can behaviour questions be asked in two ways? One as a situational based question and/or a competency (previous experience) question?
Thank you!
Yes, but if there's 6 then they may just do one type of question for each. E.g a situational for one, a past-evidence for another.
Hello Jack , bye Jack 😂
Get to work
How many questions from each area did you get at the interview?
Why do people subscribe but not like? Please be authentic in your CS interviews, panel members can tell if you are not.
Has anyone ever been asked the dreaded "tell me about yourself?"
Not in CS, no.
@@JacWilliamsVideo Thank you for all the useful content.
I had a Grade 7 interview recently and I was asked an opening question around "what do I like to do when not at work"...I got the job 😁
@@denise0707 that's usually used as a baseline for assessing strengths.
I hate working together :D
