  • Scaling your real estate portfolio can seem like a challenge to someone who is just starting. In reality, once you have five key roles in place, you can scale faster and start acquiring more and more properties.
Maybe you’re looking to scale into large multifamily properties, commercial properties, self-storage units, or mobile home parks. Or maybe you’re just going to buy 1,000 single-family homes. Whatever your strategy, you will need a lead generator, underwriter, money raiser, asset manager, and financer/bookkeeper on your team. You may start out doing many of these roles when you buy your first few properties, but as you scale, you’ll need to fill these roles with more fitting individuals.
Maybe you want to get more experience before you start buying properties. Great! Join someone else’s team and think about how you can be the BEST in the role that you’ve been appointed to.

I love how Brandon says the intro just like Josh did. I love when there is a huge emphasis on the word "host" . Josh did that very well. Love the show guys been listening for years.

You guys are awesome. Great balance between you two and you definitely make my day better when I listen to you both.
David, I am thankful that you brought the "I always think that people think like me" and that mindset have taken a lot of deals away from me in my work. Good food for thought!

i really Iike learning about scaling and buying larger multifamily but I've been just wondering when enough is enough? 50 units or thousands of units. $10k per month or $50k in Cashflow. a Net-worth of 5 million or 100mil. I'm currently at 18 apartment units that i self manage in the PHX metro that produce $8k in Cash flow and helped me create a Net-worth of 1.3 mil in 4yrs. I barely graduated high school and was never a high income earner in the military or as a CorrectionsOfficer. most I've ever made at my day job was 50K.
so i house hacked 4plex's & BRRRR'd small multifamily & live like a poor man to save more & re-invest in more Apartment buildings. I'm currently under- contract on another 4-Plex in Mesa, AZ. And I'm going to partner with a family member and do a 50/50 split. they're bringing the down-payment and I'm the one who sourced the deal, going to be financing, managing, & repositioning to raise the NOI (net operating income)
i look up to Brandon & David and that's awesome to see them grow & building real estate businesses ..it makes me want to grow and do what they're doing but I'm just wondering why? and when enough is enough? My original goal was just to buy enough cash flow producing properties ($2k per month) that would get me to Financial Freedom so I could get out of the rat race.
Does anybody else have a good answer why you want to keep growing? bringing on partners and investors And why you want to start a syndication business? just curious to hear others motivations.
thanks guys! Biggerpockets is awesome! owe a lot of my success to BP.

I don't think anyone can answer that question but yourself. Maybe you could spend some time alone pondering about the purpose of your life and what type of life you want to have led when it's time to leave earth? Either way, you are probably doing better than you think you are. Good luck and I wish you the best!!! 😃
