@TreyMM-qz4wg having a bunch of decent moves doesn’t mean you’re a good character, not one of his moves are bad on their own but not a singular one is that good. Overall he has a pretty dookie kit that takes some serious skill to make look decent
@TreyMM-qz4wg I disagree, neutral b and up air are pretty lame moves that almost no character would prefer having one of those moves, nair is decent but doesn’t do a whole lot, and fair is slow and doesn’t spike and only somewhat strong

And I play this game a lot and there’s only a few characters that I’d rather have that weak neutral b with, it halts your movement and only gimps a few characters with bad recoveries
I’ve been a Banjo main since day 1 and recently have been getting Top 8 or very close in my local scene (35-50 people tournies), and while I’m not sure he’s *quite* high tier, he is absolutely not low tier. KFC kill confirms and a great amount of ledge options, coupled with legitimately best in class moves like down tilt and imo Down Smash make him very scary. It is true that you have to work for damage much harder than most high and top tiers, most egg ladder combos end up being 3-6 hits and do 15-30 damage, not that that’s trivial, but it’s definitely a lot more effort than Steve’s up air BS that’s a 0-65, etc. That said, he’s for sure at least middle of mid tier if not a little higher, for the exact reason you mentioned. Most people just assume you have to play him like the lame Elite Smash ones do with running away and egging, he has so many more options. I’m glad there are pioneers like TG out there (and I play a very scrappy Banjo, some of my vods from my locals are on TH-cam). Personally I just love the character and love seeing him do well.
