    Whilst I understand people's complaints that this doesn't look like or feel like Assassin's Creed, I was first and foremost drawn to the franchise because of its exploration of historical eras, and seeing that I am a sucker for all things Ancient Greece/Rome, I cannot wait for this game.

      For years people said they just wanted the historical action side of the game yet now everyone wants the whole Animus side of the story?
      IMO the modern story should’ve ended with III & the series gone full history afterwards.

      Ironically, the 2 games that differed the most from the franchise: Black Flag and Origins, happen to be frequently ranked among the top 3.
      Unity and Syndicate convinced me the franchise was dead until Origins came along and revitalised the franchise.

      Im only against this new direction if it is permanent, Origins and Odyssey were both set before the Creed, so it is understandable that they don't move and fight like assassins yet, and whilst the history and exploration of historical places is the best part about the game, I do want more of the older system to come back, or at least a new version of it. The thing I like the least is the super unrealistic fighting, and weapons that light on fire etc.

    • @arxwng
      @arxwng 5 ปีที่แล้ว +641

      im Greek and i have to stay its accurate at many things, the places and landmarks are at the right spots,they trully loooked that way,if u visit today Athens u will understand,all the buildings and statues had colors for real and thats nice that they put that in the video,the city would be more crowded for sure but depends on the era u are looking. that must be Athens of 500 BC since it has the house of Periklis and the Long Walls because it was that time they build them because of the war with Sparta.

    • @natkarl
      @natkarl 5 ปีที่แล้ว +63

      Stefan unfortunately it is not very accurate in a lot of ways. They did an amazing job creating something that beautiful but my only hesitation is that they confused many different kinds of architecture from Greece as it is today to the ancient Greece. Like Cretan architecture was not a part of ancient Greece until very later. I hope you can understand what im telling you. Sorry for my English

    • @mormegil231
      @mormegil231 5 ปีที่แล้ว +171

      It is a bit hit and miss. For example they got the color scheme and aesthetic of the classical known landmarks quite right. Also the fact that Athenians were rubble-rouses during theater play is also pretty accurate. And they are trying to keep things geographically plausible. But on the other hand there is a blend of ancient greek architectures that would never be found on the same city and naturally the scale of the city is wrong since it would be impossible to play in it and things like that. Plus there were no tomatoes in the Western world before europe got in contact with mexico :p

    Why cant we build beautiful cities like these but with modern construction methods and modern amenities? At least little sections of a city can be called Little Athens or New Athens for example and be completely inspired by this type of architecture with modern shops and condos. Buildings are boring nowadays. And not just ancient Greece but also ancient Japan, China, France, the Middle East, all have very unique architecture that would be amazing to see brought back.

      Alan Adams I have played every Ac game since the first and yeah they did make changes to the series in smaller steps compared to its big return with Origin’s but I would hardly say they are moving away from what made Ac unique having played Origin’s for quite a period of time I would say they kept a lot of DNA from the older games plus some of the narrative threads too while also expanding on older mechanics while at the same time expanding the depth of the whole games experience I’ll gladly take this newer Ac style over the older stuff any day not to knock the old games I went and played the original after Origin’s and still loved it in all its clunky glory I just think that Ubi made the right choice with a series that I’m sad to say was on its last legs and if they decide to expand the Ac games beyond just being assassin’s all the time then I’m game as long as they respect the mythos they have already laid out and keep the narratives within the over arcing Ac universe I’ll continue to enjoy this franchise

      Στέλιο έχω κάνει αρκετές φορές αυτή τη σκέψη. Δεν έχεις άδικο, αλλά το κρίνουμε σύμφωνα με τα σημερινά δεδομένα που είμαστε γνώστες της ιστορίας. Διάβασα συμπτωματικά προχτές ότι έχει καταρριφθεί ο μύθος ότι οι σύγχρονοι άνθρωποι ζούν περισσότερο σε σχέση με τους αρχαίους Έλληνες. Απλά δεν θα μπορούσαμε να ζήσουμε γιατί έχουμε διαφορετικό τρόπο ζωής. Όπως και ένας αρχαίος Αθηναίος να ερχόταν στη δική μας εποχή θα έφευγε τρέχοντας. Αλλά η ουσία είναι ότι εκείνες τις εποχές που ευημερούσε η Αθήνα, οι προνομιούχοι Αθηναίοι περνούσαν ζωή και κότα, έχοντας λύσει τα βασικά τους προβλήματα και γι αυτό και ασχολούντουσαν με τις τέχνες, την ποίηση, τη φιλοσοφία και τις επιστήμες. Φαντάσου το αυτό στη σύγχρονη Αθήνα να βλέπεις να εγείρονται παντού καταπληκτικής αρχιτεκτονικής, τέχνης και αισθητικής ναοί, θέατρα, μνημεία, κτήρια και γενικά οικοδομήματα, να ρέουν τα άγαθα σε αφθονεία, να έχεις λυμμένα τα πρόβλήματα και το μόνο που θα σε απασχολούσε θα ήταν σε ποιό θέατρο να πας. Αυτά τα προνόμια τα έχουν στις μέρες μας μόνο οι οικονομικά πολύ ευκατάστατοι. Φαντάσου το αυτό σε κλίμακα ολόκληρης πόλης.

      Fortnite is trash on it's own for a lotta reasons; but the Call of Duty & Assassin's Creed series are trash for similar reasons lmao. Each game is a cash grab following the same formula as the last

      Mark Robless it has been in its depiction of old/ancient civilizations.
      That's the biggest joy for me when I play these games.
      Marveling at the recreation of long lost cultures.

      Go visit the Acropolis if you want a peek in the past. Other than that it's mostly a blend of cement without style or architectural value totally stripped of its ancient glory. The people tend to follow the same fate too. And I'm a Greek myself.

    I highly recommend just walking around an Assassin’s Creed game sometime. The detail on their environments is actually very top notch and it’s something that you can miss if you don’t take the time to really stop and look at it.

    That 42 foot tall athena statue inside the 'akroplis' aka parthenon is accurate. I did security for a full scale replica of the parthenon in Nashville, TN. Google 'parthenon nashville' and look at the images. It's badass. They had a 42 ft tall athena statue inside of it and it was coated with real gold. It was awesome. The building was massive. Two floors. Bottom floor was an art museum and top had ancient artifacts in the back room behind athena.
