    Hi, do you have any videos on how it can be made into a bracelet? Can If I keep the loop, will the knot secure the bracelet? Thanks xx

      I haven't had much success, but I would try looking it up on TH-cam, there is a video that shows gluing the cut ends into a clasp used for jewellery. Xxx

      I think this is just stranded cotton, but it will work with most things.

    How do you calculate the length of cotton you need to make a desired finished length? I want to make a light pull switch for my bathroom so about 1.5m finished length.

    • @ruthnorbury53
      @ruthnorbury53  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just found this, I hope it is helpful. The 3 to 1 Ratio--Determine the desired finished length of your braid then triple that amount.
      Example: If you want a 20-inch necklace, each cord must be 60 inches long.

  • @sashazyma

    What was the length of the finished braid?

      I am really not sure now, sorry. I would guess enough for a generous bracelet.

    What if I wanna make the cord flat? Kinda like cuboidal instead of cylindrical?

    • @ruthnorbury53
      @ruthnorbury53  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think kumihimo works like that unfortunately. I have a feeling you can make a square cord with a lucet, don't know how though unfortunately.

      You can't make a flat kumihimo in this marudai ( circular loom) . You will need ayatakadai or takadai (high loom) for flat braid where threads are arranged linearly . those involve difficult knotting techniques and not for beginners .

    • @vindovilles3419
      @vindovilles3419 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Some_guy_passing_by well I figured this out and tried to make one, so I can confirm that you're right, that's not for beginners

      I think it’s embroidery floss. It usually comes like that.
