I remember as a 13yr old taping this special. I had seen it before and got the heads up from CC that it was going to be on. I watched this one stand up piece of his over and over, thinking I might never see him perform anywhere else. So glad he caught on and now get to enjoy his humor everywhere. You go girl.
I remember watching this when it came out and it still holds up. I also realized how much of this special i quote on a regular basis 22 years later still.
One of my favorite CCPs ever. So glad this is on here now. It's unreal how much I still say quotes from this special. I exclusively say "I'll take it!" like he does every time.
SAME! I still to this day, 20 years later, like to sing Eternal Flame while doing that little dance. I'm honestly shocked how much of it I still remembered.
It is nuts how I remember this entire set, think of the jokes for years and years, and now seeing it again realizing how surreal it was I saw this twenty years ago. Again in college fourteen years ago where it was a "classic". And now where.. it's legitimately a classic of classics.
This was the first time i ever saw Zach. The half-hour comedy hour was where you went to see guys like this, you never knew what was coming. That's real comedy--not knowing and hoping for the best. Comedians will say that's what it's like doing stand-up.
I know this was the first time I saw Zac but I don't recall this airing just 6 days after 9/11. I wish I could remember what relief this special brought at that time; to myself and the country.
That would be 9/17... Were you constipated for SIX days? Or just itchy? Countries are not relieved - their children just get old, desperately grumpy and conservative, then dead. (Oh, is THAT what you mean by relieved? Since i don't see any dead fat golfers just now, the country is obviously still constipated)
@@briseboy What? I'm talking about the towers going down on 9/11 and how this aired just a few days later. It must have brought some needed laughter to the US.
@@ejyounggun08 I'm glad that you pointed out that was the air date, not the recording date. When I read that I thought this set was actually taking place a week after 9/11, and I was confused about the tone of the crowd.
I remember when I first saw it blew me away with how different it was. Then maybe 10 years later the hangover came out. He’s been funny forever man Just noticed this came out a week after 9/11, wow
I did that at concert once. All girls were screaming to this hot singer with amazing voice. They yelled LOVE YOU And I called out his name and he actually responded to me and I asked: DUDE, WHY ARE YOU WAILING 😂 HE ACTUALLY LOVED MY JOKE AND INVITED ME ON A STAGE TO DANCE
The Universe just keeps on delivering the goods. I'm doing so much laughing today after yesterday's indictment. woot! #FreedomNotFascism. Can't wait to watch this tonight :)
Is it too much to ask Comedy Central to respect the correct frame ratio of Zach Galifianakis' Special so we could enjoy it without missing the visual comedy bits? It's disrespectful to the viewer and more so to Zach Galifianakis himself! You'd think that, with a name like Comedy Central, they would know what comedy is! Please stop being obsessed with that "full frame" nonsense! What a waste of... comedy!

Same. Taped this on VCR. Lol
wait, are you still a girl?
Every single thing he says is hilarious. I've loved this guy for years!
That cackle throughout this entire video literally added a good texture on Zach's stand up 😂
Zach delivers a comic technique that's so unique
Nice poem.

This is what genius looks like. He has always been like this and the crowd loves him for a reason.
The first time I ever saw Zach Galifianakis and I've been laughing at his material ever since!! 😅😅
His style of comedy and sense of humor are just so different, it’s refreshing 😂👏🏿.

Zach is 1 of my favorite humans ever.
This is therapy on another level. Nice piano sound and than laughter after laughter. Thanks Z 😂
The camera man really messed up on that last bit
Probably was originally full screen (special is from 2001) and was cut down to wide screen. Blame editors who butchered it for TH-cam.
@@FredWallace18 yes, exactly
And Zach messed up the whole thing
Was demoted to the Ellen DeGeneres show.
Ungrateful swine

Aired of 9/17/2001
He is a giving man who helps people he is totally down to Earth good man

The ironic Henna tattoo that says "Forever" 😆 🤣

A zach standup what a treat
hes such a great actor.
The timid pimp 🤣
This is exactly the kind of comedy that I would expect from Zach, and I'm here for it. 😂
Lol felt like there was an applause sign 😂
The timid pimp. 😂
Different kind of comedy in a Andy Kaufman way. Thinking man's comedy. Well done!!!!
Honestly took a lot of obvious inspiration from Demetrius martin. You should check his stuff out

I loved the bit about moving to Pakistan or India and becoming a cab driver 😂
They are such good singers that I couldnt laugh the whole segment of the "a capella".
Still one of my favorites! 😂
Funny as hell laugh till I cried 😢
This is what the "old timers" meant when they said just be yourself and dont worry about what others think of you... Food for thought
I wonder if Chappelle took that “Three white guys in the Bronx reality show” premise and turned it into the Mad Real World.
Levels above
The balance between his way of being a troll and having a few people in the audience that are very fake made it great!
This is a masterpiece in every sense
I lost it on the "gay snake" 😂
Classic. Jesus this was from a while back.
17:00 i’m ngl the musical number was beautiful.
I pulled feta cheese out my fridge and this video was the first recommended one
that is creepy!
I love his comedy style, he's in his weal house, Sign me up!
I wonder if he'll ever do another special
He did one, not to long ago... Live at the Purple Onion. It was later than this one anyways...

That cab driver joke xD

"Oh, you're out of that one? Just give me the man that's afraid of vampires with long fangs."
Dude being a comic and absolutely killing it must feel insanely powerful. It’s like giving people mental orgasms and you put them under a spell
I love this guy LOL Zach can say nothing and I'll be laughing like hienna myself
He is so talanted!
CC really needs to archive the comedians that made their way.
These classic standups are being lost to time.
It's benign, smart but pleasant
Anyone know that piano music is so calming for story teller

WTF? Who cropped the 4:3 so bad you can't read the signs?
This validates his later sucess
Why did you guys zoom this in? Should have left the format as it was!!!
Takes work to be that good. Looking forward to future work
He's already got a lot of work. He's got his own show
This guy reminds me of the actor Tairy Greene. His impersonations would benefit from altering the nose!
I think Zach would appreciate this, YOU'RE NOT TELLING ANY JOKES I LIKE!
Imagine telling that cab driver joke today...
A lot of those jokes would be at a much higher risk of landing very differently now, then back then.
Yep....thats cuz human beings weren't fragile mental patient sissies back then .........
Best crowd ever
Methinks i see lean and hungry lesbians - before the tat and nosering vendors reaped massive profits.

Hes like a better early Demetri Martin. Nick Thune like as well.
A new special that’s only 20 mins long???
Apparently, this is an old one dated back before 9/11 someone said.

Comedy of the edge lord. The hovering arrows pointing at what was clever is cloying.
