Yay! I remember asking you to tell me these stories lol. I find this job so intriguing to be honest. I couldn’t do it though lmao. Gotta have a lot of patience!!! Good video ❤️❤️
I read this novel "Corrupt Officer's Guide to Love." It was awesome. It's about a male guard hooking up with a female inmate. Did you see or hear any stories like this one?
Ima be honest because it’s public record and he was charged, yes we had a male officer that got in trouble for hooking up with female inmate, she actually came forward and said something by showing his seed in her pocket 🤢🤮 ... talk about embarrassing. He took the girls into the bathroom to “clean” and stuff happened. It’s a huge no no because we’re in a position of power and inmates cannot consent. So it’s considered rape he ruined his life over a hook up. 🤦🏽♀️
@@raquelaiko2355 OMG it's so many terrible things going on behind bars the public is not award of. I read that book then seen an interview with this guy "The Corrupt Author" He is a former guard who didn't try to portray himself or guards in the best light. I want to see him do more interviews. Thanks for your service I don't know how you did it.
@@yediyahusynagogue9365 so it really depends prisons are far worse especially privately run prisons because they really make their own rules and don’t have to really “train” their officers the same way they have a 6 months trial window before they send their officers to the academy to be trained 🥴 I worked for a county jail a lot more room to mess up we have more public figures that are involved and people that are coming and going unlike prisons.
Raquel I just joined your TH-cam video channel and I have to ask you a question. You should have dropped down to a part time correction officer and you could keep your benefits and do what ever you wanted to do.
So no you don’t get benefits as part time that’s the sucky thing about going part time you only keep your position I know because I very much did go part time, I was a part time correction officer while I did classes and stayed for some time but I had no intention to return to full time it was a great job while it lasted but it was not my passion nor did it fit my lifestyle with my growing family so eventually I left I probably could have did part time a little longer but I had other things I wanted to do.
Yes we take weekly tests after our topics we learn, if you retain the information they give you it shouldn’t be to hard but some people are not good test takers so that can be hard. It’s about what ever you learn if you are learning about prison laws than that’s the test or prison/jail transportations, weapons, what ever the topic.
Thought I LOVED the job honestly and the type of schedule it does require a lot of hours so that was clashing I had just had my second and I was still open to having more kids. The schedule 12 hour shifts is hard and it does pull you away from family so for me I chose to step away.
@@lindsayp0523 I did 5 12s and the following week we only had to work 2 12s, I worked over time if I wanted too they have plenty of over time optional.
I can actually do a separate video for that because it is a lengthy process and different departments might have different requirements, can take 3-6 months for someone to get hired this includes the interview and the process it takes to get in passing all health, psych and physical exams
@@nestamaldini5870 sorry idk why this comment never alerted me i know it’s late but ima still answer the range varies DRAMATICALLY state prisons you start as low as $10-$15 an hour and county’s can start you as much as $20 this is preacademy as a trainee then after academy they increase your pay a few dollars but each year you gain a new tier as a county jail employee our sheriff also gave us pay raises throughout the year so you can gain a random few cents or dollar amount. i started at about $19 then when i left i think i was almost $25 or so. that was 3 years so you start to increase right off the bat it’s really a matter of time where you start to make your money, not great money for the work we do but it’s a career with good retirement.

How do that work? So you didn't have to go to the academy first or maybe california has different rules than where you are
