Losing a Whole Year was written by Stephan Jenkins and Kevin Cadogan and was the opening track and fourth single on Third Eye Blind's eponymous debut studio album released in April 1997. Losing a Whole Year charted, peaking at number 13 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart.
