Classic Albums Live (hereafter CAL) the Lithium Experience, opened their second set performing covers of The Smashing Pumpkins 1979 and Blind Melon's No Rain at the Nancy and David Billheimer Capitol Theatre in Clearwater, Florida on July 21, 2024. 1979 was written by Billy Corgan and was the ninteenth track and second single on Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, The Smashing Pumpkins' third studio album released in October 1997. No Rain was written by Shannon Hoon, Roger Sevens, Christopher Thorn, Bran Smith and Glen Graham and was the seventh track and second single on Blind Melon's eponymous debut album, released in September 1992. No Rain was Blind Melon's highest-charting song, reaching number 20 in the Billboard Hot 100 and number 1 on the Billboard Album Rock Tracks and Modern Rock Tracks.

    Love how this piece and Deep Purple's "Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming" share the chord progression from 0:33. For one it's just beautiful to listen to, and second it's a cool bridge between both worlds. Amazing performance!

    "Rain" is the best Beatles tribute band. I saw them last night at Count Basie Theater in Red Bank, NJ. The show was excellent and spot-on. My only complaint is that the band kept encouraging the audience to get on their feet, making it impossible for people standing behind them to see the stage. I paid for 3rd row seats and the 2nd row kept standing at the band's request. I wish the band would not encourage people to stand, when everyone can all see and listen perfectly in a seated position. I found it very exasperating being unable to see. If I wanted just to listen to them, I could do that for free listening to them on TH-cam at home. Other than being unable to see, their performance was excellent.
