    I put a remote filter on my 2007 6.0. I don't need to change the stock filter for 100,000 miles. I just drain the pain and spin on a new $10 remote filter and toilet paper roll. Always use Motorcraft transmission fluid.

    If you are going to do this, switch to a thick and more ridged aftermarket pan, such as a PML. You Gain 4 more quarts capacity, torsional rigidity, and cooling fins. The ford pan is tin, and has little torsional rigidity. These transmissions tend to twist under heavy load so increasing the thickness and depth of the pan is important.

    Wanted to point out something to everybody I've been working for ford for about 15 years as a mechanic. So I know my stuff this person probably blew out his transmission the first time by not using Motorcraft transmission fluid there is no oil out there compatible to Motorcraft if your vehicle is a ford please use Motorcraft transmission fluid . Do not use Valvoline max life or any fluid that says it's universal. all you have to do is pull out the dipstick and read what type of fluid your transmission uses.transmissions that I've switched over to Universal transmission fluid or automatically burn out your transmission in a matter of time using these type of fluids that are universal or it won't shift right I just wanted to make that clear. Ford has five different types of transmission fluid. If you want your Ford to perform use Motorcraft parts and fluids. I have a 99 Ford E 250 we are at 356,000 miles on a original transmission never been rebuilt by running the right fluids will get you farther. I do like the transmission pan swap good idea .

      You make it sound like Motorcraft actually makes those fluids. They make the standard and then Warren, Citgo or another bulk maker puts it in their red bottles.

    Seems very straight forward. So using the part numbers in the video I can go to my local dealer and get the parts and they will "plug and play" on my 2004 F-350. Currently I'm running Motorcraft fluid, but if I want to switch to Valvoline as in the video, do I need to do a complete flush before hand?

    You must not know the purpose of a bypass filter. That frame mounted filter removes smaller debris than the full flow filter can. If the bypass filter is plugging up, change the element. If that full flow inline filter plugs up, you get no fluid to the pump.

    • @SpaDayz
      @SpaDayz 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You must not know that the upgraded full flow filter is what Ford started using after 2007 because the bypass setup had so many issues... Hence the upgrade. It can be left in and continue to do a partial job filtering fluid..
      All full flow filters have bypass if clogged like all oil filters.

    • @JT-qf4it
      @JT-qf4it 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SpaDayz Not true, all full flow filters do not have a bypass valve. I have a 2008 F350 with a full flow transmission filter. It has no bypass. If the bypass filter was serviced properly, it would have kept the transmission fluid much cleaner than a full flow alone.

    • @SpaDayz
      @SpaDayz 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JT-qf4it Dude! Every factory made filter has a clogged filter relief "bypass", or has such a bypass system engineered into the filter housing, even those old hard oil can oil filters used on everything in the last 40 years have a bypass.
      The video clearly shows the bypass filter built into the full flow filter.
      Either way, you can still use the toilet paper filter in addition. Your 2008 doesn't have a Tp filter and already has the upgraded pan and full flow filter.
      Drop the pan and look at it.

    • @JT-qf4it
      @JT-qf4it 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SpaDayz I have installed many filters with no valve in them. If they have a bypass valve, it would have to be else wear in the system. My 2008 also has no bypass valve in the transmission filter. It is full flow.

    Two lines run beside the engine oil pan into the crappy FORD toilet paper filter. You cut out the Ford remote filter filter entirely, and I am forced to do the same as the POS Ford toilet paper filter housing was not able to be spun open due to previous owner's/dealer's negligence/corrosion.
    Can you explain/show which line you connected straight through and which line you installed the Magnafine (along with flow direction of the MagnaFine)? Anyone?

    Thank you for the excellent video. I have a 2005 F350 Super Duty Crew Cab SRW FX4. I purchased the upgraded 2008 Tranny Pan and upgraded filter. According to Ford Powerstroke both the 2005 and 2008 F350's fluid tranny capacity is 17.5qts. When I install the new pan and if I don't blow out the fluid thru the on chassis toilet paper filter hole, can I just replace the amount of fluid that was captured in the drain pan from when I removed the old tranny pan? With the new pan being deeper I didn't know if I needed to add more fluid or not. I don't drive this truck much. It sits all winter. Just turned 70,000 miles in Oct. 2019 then put it in storage. Thank you for your time and I am a new subscriber.

      You will need to add more, but you can always just start with the amount you took out, then just add a half a qt at a time until you get it in the middle of the stick.

    Great video! How is the transmission holding up with the Maxlife ATF? So many Mercon variants with LV being the latest. Forums go 20 different ways leading to confusion with LV, SP, and V. I've always liked the Valvoline Maxlife as it has the latest additives but they didn't pay Ford for the "license and royalties". But I'm new to the Ford arena and there is a massive "Motorcraft or nothing" crowd. Is Maxlife still working good for you? Thanks!

    • @SuperDuty
      @SuperDuty  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Still going strong. The thing is, if regular flushes or maintenance has not been done, introducing new fluid (even Ford) can dislodge all of the deposits and clog things up, hence the filter upgrade.

    • @Roys3dShop
      @Roys3dShop 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@SuperDuty Thanks for the quick reply! I bought it used, so the true history is unknown. The ATF fluid looks and smells clean, but I always change all fluids with used "new to me" vehicles regardless. I've been away from Ford for 15 years or so, so I'm doing my due diligence. There's a lot of conflicting info on fluids out there with these trucks.

    If I change over to this filter and pan, then add in Maxlife, should I replace the filter again soon after since Maxlife dislodges stuff? Seems like you'd want to drop the pan and replace it to prevent material clogging.

    • @HHCDiesel
      @HHCDiesel 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It might be a good idea. It's a pretty hard core filter so it can take a lot of debris before the bypass kicks in. The bypass on the new filter is the same screen type as old filter, so even if the bypass does kick in, you get the old type of filtration.
