The Temptations the Best Group Ever. Eddie with that Awesome Falsetto. Beautiful song. Thanks Smokey for all the Beautiful songs you wrote for The Temptations. The Temptations Forever
Not only were these brothers smooth, they could there asses off, and the harmony was off the hook. Not like today's music with computers helping to sound good, there is not much natural talent out her today. Very few groups had NATURAL TALENT LIKE THE TEMPTATIONS.
You are right. Many of the singers today sound like computers with that nasal impersonal sound that only a computer can generate. The Temptations like so many singers of that day had a natural smooth fresh vocal quality that rarely exists among the singers of today who depend too much on the computer. That is why Grace Jones left the business as she says the only thing that producers care about is getting her voice on the computer.
I was a 15 yo white girl who was in love with this song when it came out. What a magical time musically. Revolutionary. Motown, Rock & Roll, British Invasion, Johnny Cash, et al, Beach Boys, all of the great ones. AND, all at the same time. Try and imagine that. Really magical, yep...
I'm 21 but my mom raised me on good old soul music and I must say The Temps dance moves back in the day are a lot more impressive, smoother and cleaner then anything you will EVER see int today's music from anybody.
Phenomenal! What else can you say about these extraordinary young men. It just doesn't get any better than the incomparable Temptations. Temptations Forever!
+Holt Productions What ? Chopping heads would be better ? Sorry Eddie. Your song of love of woman makes Allah mad. "You shall not say you want her in music song" Tough shit. Kill the music & kill the nations spirit. Wake up America b4 it's to late.
They were all so FINE!!! ppl say David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks made the group what it was but I think they all did a wonderful Job!!! Ty for posting DetroitLives313.
Eddie was in charge of the wardrobe watch the interview with Him and Ruffin.thats Where I found out Paul was lead baritone and over the Dance routines.
Dec.17th: Happy birthday R&B-Soul Singer Edward James Kendrick / Eddie Kendricks (1939-1992) member: The Cavaliers, The Primes, The Temptations, Solo Artist. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Temptations. Thank you and God bless. RIP Legend. Thanks for the upload, DetroitLies313. Blessings
Something special about that Eddie J Kendrick. I wish I had a chance to meet him. We need to write a book about his life. I would invest in that project. So underrated especially as being a pioneer in music history.
Wow! What a trip back to those times! Thank you so much for sharing this! (I remember guys in my classes in HS wearing these shoes! We used to call them “Pimp Shoes”!! Lol lol! 😅😂🤣😘
***** yes indeed, Mz. Perfect.....They were the first and the best. But Eddie Kendricks had that sweet lovely high voice that no one couldn't touch or copy.
How could you not fall in love with this group? White bread announcer couldn't get off the stage fast enough.. These guys were READY to sing their music and I just love it.
Why go there? It is clear to anybody that the Temptations are infinitely more talented than any announcer could possibly be. I love this music and I am white. I just saw the Temptations w/ my daughter two years ago. Only Otis Williams is left but they are still incredible.
Just stating the obvious. My mistake. Or, not. Dare to "go there" and see what these talented people had to go through to be on stage...anywhere. Frank? Look up the history you never learned in school, and then look at this talented group of people. Of the people who came before them in order for them to RESTRAIN themselves in vocals and dance, just so "white bread assholes" like you, could be entertained. PS: I am white, Caucasian, whiter shade of pale, depending on the day....but still know when to call it.
Preach Ms. Evers!... I'm Black and definitely not prejudiced or racist, but the truth is the truth, and we constantly deny that it existed and exists, and just want to "enjoy the music"... sorry to say that Eddie died very poor and and mostly alone, while greatly honored with a statue in his hometown, but there is no way he should have been poor after having been in the Tempts And had a brilliant solo career.
Yes I agree. My Dad told me that back then all men were wearing suits like that. He said it was called "The Italian Cut" style. He told me he had his suits tailor-made like that.
I'm a 1997 baby and I've always had a heart for the 60's wow. I've been clicking this video since I was 11 and I'm 20 still watching and wishing I was apart of this era. :(
Tiffany Mulan: I'm a 1995 baby and I too have a heart ♥️ for the 60's to the 90's I like to watch videos like these in my spare time when I come back from work when I was 15 I watched my first black and white show called The Jack Benny Program now I'm 22 and I still watch shows from the 60's to the 90's and they'll never get old
Edward James "Eddie," "Cornbread" or "Corn" Kendrick (December 19th, 1939 - October 5th, 1992). No one has a falsetto voice as smooth as Eddie Kendricks. NO ONE!!! Another tremendous loss...His and Mary Wells' deaths were less than three months apart (July 26th, 1992) from cancer, a horrible disease. Keep on resting, Corn!!!
It was Throat Cancer that killed Eddie. Plus Eddie Dropped the S from Kendricks To Kendrick By (1985) When He And David Ruffin Got Together To Create The Hit Album Ruffin,Kendrick.
This my favorite group of all time, I get super excited when I get to see real performance from my boys the temptations, but I wasn't born( my yr 1986) around the time when they were performing. I definitely lived in a different as well. But my dad is a music lover so as I was growing up I remember him playing these songs. I play these song for my daughter who is 2, so she can know what real music sounds like.
Wonderful memories of dancing all night to this and lots of other Temptations, and other Motown gems... Its and oldie but a goodie. Great Soulful clapping, makes you wanna move....and groove. Excellent
Here's the 311 on The Temptations, they were in their prime years, but let me tell you "if Smokey Robinson" had given them a telephone book to sing from, it would not only be a #1 hit but a "smash hit"!
Yes, Smokey did write this. This is the last song Smokey wrote for the Temptations. According to what I read, Berry Gordy would not allow Smokey to write or produce any more songs for the Temptation because Get Ready only made it to #29 on the national charts. Berry expected a much higher charting so Berry assigned Norman Whitefield to the Temptations after Get Ready failed to meet Berry Gordy's expectations on the national chart.
@jackanthony976 I can't figure out why this song didn't chart higher. Much worse songs of theirs did better. "My Baby", right before this, went to #14, I think. I don't get it. After this they did My Girl, #1. Of course David was lead on that. But I love this song best.
RIP David Ruffin (1941-1991) RIP Eddie Kendrick (1939-1992) RIP Dennis Edwards (1943-2018) RIP Paul Williams (1939-1973) And RIP Melvin Franklin (1942-1995)
I love the Eddie lead performances not just because the man had a wonderful voice but also because he was the stiffest dancer and it allowed David to groove with the rest of the Temps. Half of the videos i have seen he wasn't really into it, but this one he was smoking. I think it encouraged the other Temps to go harder because even ole Otis was getting down!
I was just 10 yrs, old during this taping, man o man I wished that I would have learned and studied singing and voice control, I'd be a star and great singer today during that time in 1966.

Their harmonizing was out of this world. So clean and crisp... LONG LIVE THE TEMPS!!!
One word for temps.awesome. grew up with them. Dancing always on point.l
These guys brought "class" to rock and roll. One of my favorite groups.
