It never changed the rulings on Xyz, they were never supposed to work like that in the first place, TCG was just completely clueless for a while on how they actually worked.
You should make a special regarding which lists would need to be amended due to shifts in the game since they were made. Like you could mention each list one after the other and mention what’s changed. In fact, such a thing should be once every 2-3 years.

@@zed60k47 Dragoon in a vacuum is better than DPE. The problem was DPE engine was better with the pot of greed built in, while dragoon had you playing normal monster bricks. And fusion destiny being better than red eyes fusion.

I loved how much of a mess Last Turn was, cause one gba game had a challenge to end a duel in a draw, and Last Turn was suggested. I remember trying this and yanking the gba cart out cause the duel frustrated me. And yes, I knew Ring of Destruction and Self-Destruct Button existed, but used Last Turn just because. I was a very special kid.
I ran into someone using Judgement the other day and I blew his ass up. Admittedly, the only reason I did is because I negated his on-field Jowgen by using Called By on one that was already in the graveyard, and I drew the other card I needed to be able to put more than 8000 damage on board. If I didn't otk him, I probably would've needed six negates to stop whatever he was going to do next turn.
The only cards that doesn't outdated are solemn judgment,rhongo bongo,og CED and the Maybe Masterpiece and Last turn can be limited and it won't see play competitive outside MD
Og CED would probably still be broken af . Remember how people would go out of their war to turno 3 Trishula just to remove 3 cards from their opponent's hand ? Well, with CED you can turbo it to remove their entire hand and leave them with only their top deck and the GY effects of their starting hand to deal with whatever you set up afterwards. This shit would be absolutely bonkers
Last Turn is literally stronger today than it was back then, it can never come back for a multitude of reasons, but the fact that it's an auto win is a pretty gigantic one.
I played a Qliphort deck in that one Arc-V PSP game. It was the best Pendulum deck in that game and adding Nova Summoner made it even less likely to brick. I just love reminiscing about Towers. That card was the win condition aside from the backrow destroyers.
In regards to Last Turn, if you play it early enough in the turn and neither person wins from the effect, I'm pretty sure your opponent can actually also still do their normal battle phase which is just another level to the rulings nightmare it is. Any card which either skips phases (except maybe battle phase) or makes new phases already are such huge ruling nightmares because of how they fundamentally change the game (at least to my knowledge), but with Last Turn it's so much worse since there's all the other parts of its effect that just adds to that.

They should errata it that your opponent just have to "show" a Monster in his Deck (or even in his Extra Deck). No special summon and no extra battle phase. And the Winner is decided immediately. Not in the End Phase. Still a broken Game ending Card. But the ruling issues would be at least gone.

chaos emp nowadays is basically a free win going second card, play a couple of combo pieces to bait out negates summon this card burn for probably around 3k then attack directly for 3k, opponent now has to out it with their top deck and that's about it
I played against a guy who summoned Rongo on me the other day. I still won mostly because he used all of his resources to summon it with four materials so all I had to do was stall for one turn, set up my board, and then it was basically just a 3000 attack indestructible beatstick. I'd say it's balanced without gossip shadow

Wait, Last Turn proceeds to the End Phase immediately after its special Battle Phase, skipping everything else of your opponent's turn? I thought after the special Battle Phase their turn proceeds like normal and the various effects of Last Turn resolved in at least three different steps (first the field and hand clear resolves on activation of the card; immediately afterwards, your opponent special summons a monster and the special Battle Phase takes place; then their turn continues as normal and in their End Phase the stated victory condition is checked).
I wonder if Last Turn could be errata'd so that the opponent's summon cannot be interfered with? As in, it bypasses floodgates, ignores Jowgen, and doesn't allow the summon to be negated (maybe even allowing it to ignore summoning conditions). I feel like the card is meant to be more of a "callout" or "bluff" card, saying "You don't have anything that can beat over my boss monster", and whether you win or lose depends on if they can call your bluff with a large enough monster. Considering the fact that it essentially wipes the board and both player's hands, the devs clearly didn't want you to be able to resolve the effect with a floodgate on the field or a summon-negating hand trap.
If last turn negated the effects of all monsters and no other effects can be activated if the card resolved (so you could still use a counter trap or Inperm column or whatever to negate Last Turn) Would that fix the rulings nightmare? Just two beat sticks and unless their attack stats match, there will be a winner? They’d still probably have to ban it from tournaments but that seems like the easiest fix to me.
It's difficult to do for pre 2012 decks since decks used too many generic cards already But for the more modern years 2017 - zoodiac 2018 - firewall anything 2019 - orcust with mermiad 2020 - halqdon 2021 - zoodiac again ig, or dogmatika 2022 - adventurer
-Original CED would be insane even today, since chaos gets searchers and easier way to turbo it out. -Master Peace would still be a great boss monster that can completely win against some matchups. -VFD, Zexal, Rhongo, and Shock Master pretty skip your opponent's turn(s). -IO and Colossus are still one of the best floodgate. -Halq and Summon Sorc enable a lot of combos and generate card advantage. Isolde is great too. -Super poly is one of the best board breakers. -Mystic mine
The explanation for Ignition effect priority isn’t particularly accurate, it doesn’t make the effect spell speed 2. It lets you us ignition effects on summon as if it were an on summon trigger effect (like Tour Guide).
The thing about book of Judgment, is that it gives you advantage during the end phase. You yourself said that this is one of the fairer types of advantage, during your banlist discussion vidoes.
Nibiru ain’t on par with any of the cards on the OG list lol. Nibiru is probably the weakest Kaiju-like card, since it can be negated, unlike normal Kaijus.
@@pikachufrankie I would disagree. A majority of top decks require multiple summons. Top decks either need to stop summoning after 4 and have a strong board or have a monster negate in place by the 5th summon to stop nibiru. This is the requirement that nibiru has made on the current metagame
There are a lot of cards which deserved a place on a top 10 list such as sixth sense, JD, crush card virus, knightmare mermaid, Dimension fusion etc. In the end the cards you mentioned were ok, just to me Last turn and Super quantal boi are not worth even a top 30 list.
Last Turn and Masterpeace aren't in Master Duel, the original CED was the broken one, Rhongo was a menace before Gossip Shadow was banned, and Tyrant Neptune isn't in Master Duel, yet Supreme King Dragon Starving Venom is when it can do the same thing. That Igknight ftk horseshit absolutely uses Supreme King.

Why was Last Turn not just worded simpler. I do not understand how they let that through with such a muddy effect? I feel like they just wanted it to be like the card game "War" but with yugioh cards but didn't know how to properly format it without being meta about it.
Number 86 was the only good card in the Heroic Challenger Archetype, so I basically had to throw my deck in the fire once it was banned. Sucked for a highschooler

Honestly…Great Magnus is already plenty annoying. I hate playing against Superquantals in general, but having a boss monster that basically forces you to run Kaijus is a mistake.

Pot of greed definitely isn't among the strongest cards in the game. The reason its banned is because its too generic not because its effect is too powerful. It isn't in the same league as stuff like maxx c or painful choice for example that give you so much advantage that they can win you the entire duel.

Hallowed Life Barrier only prevents monsters from being destroyed in the OCG by the way.

@@melvinshine9841 rhongo wasn't that common even with gossip shaddow legal because the combo can still be easily interrupted so it wasn't that much of a problem. I played alot at high rank and maybe saw it once or twice. I'm still glad they banned this degeneracy tho.
@@Landgraf43 Rhonggo is not that common, yes. But when gossip shadows still around, you could consistently summon him with 5+ material with a correct deck. And once out it's really pain to remove him from the field

Why was Last Turn not just worded simpler. I do not understand how they let that through with such a muddy effect? I feel like they just wanted it to be like the card game "War" but with yugioh cards but didn't know how to properly format it without being meta about it.
Number 86 was the only good card in the Heroic Challenger Archetype, so I basically had to throw my deck in the fire once it was banned. Sucked for a highschooler

Yeah, Pot of Greed won't warp the game around it if it was at 3 like Maxx C would, but it would also be a staple 3 of in every deck.
Pot of greed definitely isn't among the strongest cards in the game. The reason its banned is because its too generic not because its effect is too powerful. It isn't in the same league as stuff like maxx c or painful choice for example that give you so much advantage that they can win you the entire duel.
@@Landgraf43 pot of greed is a powerful card. But, yes, the main reason it's being banned because it's a generic +1 without any limitation. Hence as long as that card exists, many "draw" Card can be considered obsolete and hurt the sales
