I warms my heart to know that there are young Americans out there with hunger to work with metal and to make things with their hands. I am 63 and started my working life in the Tool & Die trade and I love it. I left the trade only after a few years once manufacturing began drying up here in the states. Another reason is that the wages for machinists are painfully low compared to other trades.

Love my Coal Iron Press. Great video, been thinking on how this might work, much appreciated.

Very nice job. Awesome videos. They turned out very well there. Hopefully you get great use out of it and the dies for many years to come. Can't wait to see more videos soon my friend. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Weld on. Fab on. Forge on. Keep making. God bless.

Thanks for the video. I’m getting back into forging and am making my own press using a harbor freight 12 ton press with an air over hydraulic cylinder. It’ll be different than yours but you gave me ideas on how to make my dies. I’m going to start with a drawing die and squaring die set.

Why did you run the fullering dies into the throat? Seems like you've limited your fullers to a max of around 4 inches from the end of a piece of work? For hammers it wouldn't matter I guess. If you had run them like you did the drawing out dies then theoretically you could put fullers anywhere in an infinite piece of stock.

@@MuffinManMetalworks I want to closed die forge an aluminum custom piece
And I need to make my custom dies but machining would be a difficult and expensive due to the shape!!
Can I cast iron dies? Because the shape is easy to cast and since I am forging aluminum a cast iron die would be good enough??

@@FirstLast-tx3yj its sounds like you'd be complicating a fairly easy build. Something similar to what I've built here would work just fine for the work you'd like to do
