Yes I’m back, I’m just a part time sawyer at the moment. I still have a HVAC company to run and it requires most of my time during the summer. I also tore something in my arm that needed to heal.
Toe board’s are the black rollers in the bed near each end. They raise the log to level the pith. So you cut a wedge shaped slab from all four sides of a tapered log. Without them you would cut all of the taper from the first to cuts. The grain in a board would not be very parallel with the board.
