Met my first love and soul mate at 14, the most deep hearted, intelligent and thoughtful person i think i will ever meet. Lost him to suicide at 16 when we were in our senior year. Every 17th of may i cry like the night i found out and every 24th of January i sing happy birthday to him, in hopes he will listen, somehow. Im now 20, never been in love after that and, perhaps, never will be ( or at least not to the same level). I still think of him everyday and my heart breaks whenever someone mention his name, even if they are not referring to him. Love is the most beautiful and dangerous road. Enjoy every single moment you have of it.

My parents forced me away from my first and only real love at 17, moving us across the country. It was devastating to both of us. We met us several times over the course of our lives but ended out too damaged by what life had thrown at us. Then one day she reached out on facebook and ignited a nuclear bomb of penned up emotions. It is now 41 years since I first had to say goodbye. Last Monday I asked her to marry me. She said yes. Life moves on, never let go. First love, real love, it really lasts forever no matter what. It endures through anything and it is quite possible to reignite at a moments notice. My grandmother is 76 now, she is my best friend and sometimes she talks about her first love and cry, im the only on she trust to talk about him. I see in her eyes how much she regrets not living her life by his side. She had an arrengement marriage, had 2 kids and live her life with someone she didn't love. All because of her family who didn't accept her being with someone who wasn't japanese and made her move away from him and married someone else. She is the most gentle soul I know and I wish I could find him just to make her happy. Has been almost 50 years now and she cries every time she talks about him. Someday I will write about them.
I relate to her more that I want do admit, maybe thats why I understand her more then anyone else.

I would highly recommend reading the book The Collected Regrets Of Clover by Mikki Brammer, a good part of this book reminds me a lot of what you shared about your grandmas lost love. I hope she is able to reconnect with him someday

My first love died as well in an accident about 3 months ago now. He was my everything 💕 and I'll love him forever.

The stories told here are so sad, and thinking about my 1st love is making me even more sad..
He was my classmate during high school, we were good friends and we even tried "the friends with benefits" thing for a while, I liked him for 2 years then I realized he was my 1st love, I've never believed in love until I met him tbh. Now I'm 18 years old, we're not in the same city anymore, I haven't seen him in almost a year, but we're still in constant touch, he have a gf and he told me that he loves her, it was so hurtful hearing the way he talks about her, but as hurt as I am, I'm still happy for him, even if it's not with me.

6 YEARS LATER UPDATE GUYS: We are not together anymore. After 3 years in which we had a great and full of passion relationship, the distance broke us up (after university we started careers in different cities).

Now I am for 4 years in another, more mature relationship. I am 27 now and I see life a little bit differently. He slowly became a very bad friend and I decided my love for him and maintaining a friendship relationship with him and his girlfriend without suffering couldn’t coexist. It still hurts, but life is unpredictable. Maybe, in future, we’ll still be friends.

Nah, this is what the "Love of your life" feels like, but "First love" is different. I had both, and my "First love" I told her Today (after 14 years, she had always been. That's why I'm here because I showed her this song). I will never forget her. We were 19 and 16. (I'm 33 now). It took me 8 years to overcome her, when I met my "Love of my life" at 27, and lasted 3-4 years, and she is the most incredible woman I ever met. After other 10 girfriends maybe.
But my "First Love", was so special too and different! We were kids.

Tho, maybe he was your "First love" too. But for many of us, we had a "First Love" that was indeed probably our first person to have sex with, or first kiss, or for some they even never kissed. Read other stories. In my case she was my third to have sex, but I was his first guy to have sex with, what I know totally marked me more than her. Because she was (and still is) super beautiful.

met my first love when I was 18, everything was so pure and filled with innocence, it was beautiful because we were both just going along with the flow of everything, after 5 months of being in a relationship with her, she had to go to another country to study, we both promised each other that we'll keep the fire inside of us alive, both promised a good future with the two of us together, it was amazing and beautiful, I didn't mind the long distance because we were both making an effort to maintain the relationship, but then things just change, and just like that we broke up, she changed into a different person, she's not the person I fell inlove with anymore, my first love is a memory now, it's sad but I have to face the fact that I can't control her decisions, I just wish that she's living a good life now, and it's okay if that good life doesn't include me, as long as she's happy, that's all I want.
