- CALL ME BY YOUR NAME is a sensual and transcendent tale of first love, based on the acclaimed novel by André Aciman, written by Oscar® nominee James Ivory and starring Armie Hammer (The Man from U.N.C.L.E, On the Basis of Sex) and Timothée Chalamet (Lady Bird, Little Women). Its soundtrack is a mix of 80s pop, classical compositions & songs by singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens, including two songs written specifically for the film.

While the soundtrack for CALL ME BY YOUR NAME is a compilation of tracks by numerous musicians, Guadagnino decided he wanted to approach American singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens to create a song especially for the film. “An artist for whom I have enormous admiration is Sufjan. His voice is fantastic and angelic, and his lyrics are so sharp and deep and full of sorrow and beauty. The music is so haunting. All these elements were the ones I wanted to envision in the film.”
While Guadagnino knew that Stevens had never collaborated on a movie before, he reached out. Stevens read the book, they had a long conversation, and the result was that he wrote not one, but two original songs for the film: “Mystery of Love” and “Visions of Gideon”.
The soundtrack for CALL ME BY YOUR NAME also includes tracks by John Adams and Ryuichi Sakamoto as well as pieces written by Erik Satie, Maurice Ravel and Johann Sebastian Bach. As the film is set in the 1980s, Guadagnino chose period Italian pop music (including Giorgio Moroder & Joe Esposito’s “Lady Lady Lady”) for the radio, but particularly spotlights The Psychedelic Furs’ anthem “Love My Way”. “I love The Psychedelic Furs,” says Guadagnino. “It’s kind of autobiographical, because I remember listening to that song when I was seventeen and being completely affected by it. I wanted to pay homage to myself then.”

Films, like Call Me By Your Name, are rare. It is a beautiful and artistic look at young love and the passage of time. I recommend the book as well. It includes a moving scene where Elio and Oliver meet after twenty years of not seeing each other.

The same happened in my theater. No one moved. Everyone looked as if they were trying to process what they had just seen. I remember I was in tears and said to myself after Elio cried, I was like " What have I just watched?" It was soooo beautiful I can't describe it. I remember I went home, sat on my bed and started crying again.

But I watched a review without watching the trailer and it really felt like a beautiful movie to me. After I watched it, I had such a weird feeling, I can't describe it. I watched it alone and gave the movie all of my attention. The end scene really got me and I was crying sooo hard, like I was in their place and lived all these moments with them. It felt so bad and hopeful at the same time. I had these feeling with a quiete few other masterpieces but not as heavy as this time! The movie affected me and I didn't find a word to describe that feeling. It drove me crazy so I googled that feeling and it said something like 'post-movie-depression.' When a movie affects you that much, you can't even think straight and think about it for days and you gotta talk to everyone about that movie and you order the book - if there's one - and you listen to the soundtrack all the time and watch all kinds of interviews. I watched the movie like five times or something and it gets me every time. But the first time watching was really the best time and sadly I can't repeat it exactly the same way.

I met him when I was 14yo. we studied together, and it was impossible not to fall in love with him. he was so kind, so beautiful, so smart, so breathtaking in every meaning of this word... he was just everything to me. but, in 11 of the last december, I lost him, he died in a terrible car accident. he was only seventeen, and he passed one week before his birthday, and I still can't believe that this happened. seven months, nineteen days and I'm here, still asking myself the reasons behind it. each day the pain gets worse.
the morning after i find out he was gone, i listened this song on repeat, hours and hours, just remembering the times where I couldn't hold the fucking love that I felt for him, remembering the days where he made me look at myself in his eyes, and made me love myself more and more, he was just the love of my life! and the saddest thing about it is that he passed before even know what, he didn't know I was in love with him just waiting to have my chance, he didn't know I loved him with my whole heart and soul, and this is too much to handle sometimes... but i promise that I will learn how to do it.

it’s been 3 years since i’ve seen this movie for the first time. It’s had such a big inpact on my life. I guess I was in a special state of mind to feel the things I felt for this movie. Never has a movie impacted me so much. I watched it at least 50 times. Even to this day, when I hear this song all these feelings start to bubble up again. Absolute masterpiece in my eyes

"Emotional Hangover" that's the accurate expression, how I feel even days after watching this overwhelming film. At least I have a describtion now for my never known melancholic state of mind. And it's kind of soothing to me, obviously not beeing the only one - LOVE
This movie is amazing, it's just beautiful. It captured perfectly how men feel in their first love, the insecurities, the thrill, the broken heart due to how it ends... while it is a movie about a gay couple, it is so much more than that, i felt those insecurities as a straight man too, and it is so absolutely beautiful, from start to finish. i recommend this movie to EVERYONE
Everyone always talks about the fire place scene hitting hard but no one. NO ONE is talking about when Elio holds onto Oliver saying that he doesn't want him to go.

I'm 21 and I watched this movie after something similar happened to me. The two of us met in Hungary. We've been together there for almost 2 months, but I felt like I known him all my life.
He had the most beautiful eyes in the world. He was afraid of people and he had reasons for that. I was ready to go against my parents for him. But in addition to everything that had happened to him in his life, he was scared. We could never be together.. I left him, I left piece of my heart with him. I dont think I'll see him again but i loved him and i will miss those eyes forever.
