God.... just watching this. Im a pom who was a chef in sydney for 20 years, and i lived in glebe for 10 of those... i also lived in balmain for 5 yrs,
i cycled and walked over the anzac bridge a thousand times. I miss australia so much but im glad i live back in the UK now to be close to my family, however this video makes me a bit emotional, especially as it was made back in 1994 when i was just leaving school in england. Its nice to see footage of glebe years before i went there, especially "glebe point", god i used to walk my dog around there everyday.
At the beggining , you can see the cricket oval in the background near the old "harold park" Trots track in glebe.. I worked as a chef on that construction site when the tramsheds got turned into a shopping centre and 1200 appartments got built. ( mirvac).
I also was a chef on the parkview job at woolaware when the built all the appartments at shark park , the cronulla sharks stadium,
i was also the chef at the new Commonwelth bank job by mirvac at redfern, big job, and also the mirvac high rise flats at green square, and also the highrise bulding they did at olympic park .
and also the job at meadowbank for the uni!
This video was so good to watch, makes me miss sydney.
I worked all these jobs ive mentioned above "cash in hand" running these kitchens on big construction jobs, because i was illegal.... and i never got caught .

Fast forward to day. We're just tunneling around that area. Balmain is screwed.
