  • Why do we allow ourselves to be influenced by some other people, who will define us, why do we do this? Such that we lose the capacity to be the change agents that we need to be.
Former President Thabo Mbeki's closing remarks during the Thabo Mbeki African Leadership Institute' certificate ceremony on the 3rd of October 2019 to celebrate 212 Students who completed their programmes.
The Acting-Vice-Principal: Teaching, Learning Community Engagement, and Student Support, Prof Veronica Mckay and the CEO of Thabo Mbeki Foundation, Mr. Max Boqwana attended the ceremony.

Very true son of the soil. Displaying emotional intillegence, wisdom and leadership qualities and an intellectual and an eloquent speaker. History will judge those who removed him from power to pursue their own shenanigans with our beloved country, by giving it free on a platter to the Guptas, looting state institutions to the ground. Yes , he was not a perfect president just like any of us , but to the majority of us, Former Pres Mbeki was much and much better than those who followed after him. Diliquencies, corruption and lawlessness and back stabbers. Look at r beautiful country now, lawlessness and in shambles.

Dang. I remember a time growing up when Thabo Mbeki was a lot more spry and energetic than he is in this video. I'm saddened somewhat, especially while reading some of these pleasant comments about him, to remember that those days are gone for good. To me, he represents the best of the post-94 presidents and the best of his party in that after him, it's been a dark time for everyone of us. Still is.

I like what the former President Thabo Mbeki said about us allowing others defining us. We have been made to believe that good things come from outside African continent, that's our weakness. We allow the west to tell us what to do and not to do, we Africans can kill each other because of the statements or indirect instructions from the outside people, outside of Africa. Our people , I mean us as African don't believe that we can make it in life, and we allow the outside to tell our story..why? We have abandoned our culture and tradition and everyday the youth are inspired by the non Africans, it is not wrong to have a role model who is non African but Africans can do better as well.

Perhaps the reasons why Thabo Mbeki was side lined or recalled was because of his honesty and forthright attitude and even more so his superior intellect to that of many of his contemporaries in the A.N.C..
It is glaringly obvious he was on a different track than say Jacob Zuma.
As can now be deduced by his stance on land expropriation.
It can only lead to disaster.
It didn't work in Zim and to a lesser extent in many Communistic countries where any idiot can see that most of the countries who adopted the Socialist type of governance are left behind in a time warp.Cuba , North Korea. Zimbabwe. The former Soviet (U.S.S.R. STATES)ARE POORER THAN MANY OTHER COUNTRIES.

I am Zambian so it may not be my place to speak such words but; the south Africans even in the midst of poor service delivery are too nostalgic about freedom fighting days and they'd feel like a Betrayal to ditch the corrupt ANC leadership for any new party no matter how much sense that party made. Until "that" generation dies off u will always be frustrated with the leadership. It's hard to find true, well meaning people to work with. Maybe that's why Mbeki hasn't formed a party. In Zambia the people in the rural areas always let us down when it comes to elections.

A highly respectable leader. Having said that, unfortunately it is not because the word xenophobia doesn't exist in our vocabularies this is why what the name describes doesn't exist. This is why sometimes what matters is not how the thing is called but what the thing is.
For instance what xenophobia refers to is what has taken place in South Africa where Africans from other African countries have found their shops burnt, where their fellow Africans from South Africa were saying the problems they have in South Africa is due to the presence of those Africans.
The word slavery doesn't exist in our vocabularies but what dictators do with the people, especially the 60 years old bloody and dynastic dictators at Togo that terrorizes, persecutes, kills in West Africa with their racists, slavers and predators supporters in some European countries is a practical expression of a modern slavery.
We all need to be very careful about how we treat one another. These people in South Africa who have stood against others in South Africa simply because they are from other countries have failed to give a positive sense to the experience of apartheid. Because you who have gone through such atrocity shouldn't be the ones who will burn others' shops and so on simply because they are foreigners.

@Michelle Cuthbert brown hi. I am Zambian, my mother is from the ngoni tribe & my father was from the lenje tribe. I have relatives from the Lunda, tonga, ng'umbo tribes. My half sister is ng'umbo. So 'clearly' I am so African if you want lemme say so black. I don't know what I said to u that resulted in u calling me all sorts of names including fake black. In case u misunderstood what I said, this is what I meant; Namibia as a country was managed/administered by the South African oppressive whites govt. Therefore, there is a close similarity between the two counties in social, political, cultural and economic development. It even looks like South Africa. The only difference is the Namibians are very friendly and not violent. So thats why I said it's better to go to Namibia then coz it feels like south Africa coz the black south Africans in South Africa will view all foreign negroes as people who want to take their jobs and possibly Lynch them, meanwhile u are just on holiday.

I am Kenyan. I lived in South Africa for 8 years, I basically grew up there.
But there is one major thing that hurts me to the core, South Africans hate fellow African immigrants than whites who oppressed them for around 300 years and the apartheid regime of 46 where a black man was the perfect allegory of shit.
I was beaten, bullied and harassed by my fellow black students and they always use to chant the famous south African song of " kigwara gwara kinuga kisuga kinuga eeeh" which loosely translates to LEAVE LEAVE YOU FOREIGNERS YOU STINK
During the apartheid regime when South Africa was crippled by chains of discrimination the rest of Africa cried with them, they were aided by The Congo, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda but after their independence their leaders turned them against us.
Most African immigrants in South go there to find solace and safety but arrive only to find peril and doom awaiting them.
South Africans need to wake up and change because reciprocity of bad deeds is paid here on earth,
    KARMA IS A BITCH!!!

No one serves ones right in a silver platter. Right has to be won and won by force if necessary. It is a crime to be weak. Africa must invest heavily to make their grassroot population aware of the power of their human and natural resources. That awareness has to be created by reshaping their human resource by replacing western education with indigenous mother-tongue based schooling. More important- by replacing "Imported Governments" with Governments of the grassroot level.
