- Hello guys.
We thought it might just be useful to work through the process of how we set up our Motorhome, Florrie, when we first arrive on a campsite.
We've only been at this for nine months, and we're still learning every time we go out. But hopefully, this video will be useful.
And if anyone has any advice on how to improve on our set up, then please leave them in the comments.
Thanks very much and safe travels everyone.

Water is our priority, then gas. You guessed it the kettle goes on. Take care and stay safe.
😃😃. Indeed Dave 👍👍👍
Hope you guys had a good weekend
@@NBNatureTrailvan We did thank you.
Lol, we would be on our second pot of tea by now, well done, a very good instructive video on how you set up your Motorhome. I bet it seems like a long time ago since you were in Scotland now. Take care, stay safe and love to you both
Hiya Lindsay - yes we do take a bit long 😃😃. But we’re learning more each time and “the list” must be followed 😃
Cutting out most mistakes now 🤞🤞
We just envy you guys having the van at home - must be brilliant to load up with the essentials and then off to the stunning places you get to. We have to load the car, drive to storage and then load up again🤦🏻♂️.
Missing Scotland a lot!! Can’t wait to get back
Hope you’re having a good week xx from us
@NBNatureTrailvan you take a longer time because you are still learning about Florrie.
You want things done properly.
Having Desmond at the house is good for us, the clothes and certain food stuffs are always in Desmond. We just fill up with the essentials fir the weekend.
We have been doing things for a lot longer but we don't have to set up on a site so things are quicker for us.
Take care both
👊👊👍😘👋
Cheers Stephen mate - learning every day (and making less mistakes) 😃
@@NBNatureTrailvan 👊👍👍
Hi Dave & Sue,
Thanks for sharing your setup process for your motorhome, Florrie! It's always helpful to see how others do it, especially for those of us still learning. Your tips and tricks are much appreciated. Safe travels, and keep up the great work!
Best regards,
Simon
Thanks very much Simon
We are learning more every day - still making some mistakes although they’re reducing 😃
We’ve loved every minute being out in the van. Such a wonderful experience! And the places we’ve visited have been wonderful. Especially Scotland.
Hope to get across to Denmark before we can’t 👍👍.
Have a great week 👍👍
It may appear to be a lot of work to people that have never set up before and it is. But after doing it a number of times one cuts the time way down. It becomes second nature. A nice setup Dave and Sue. Have a great week.
Thanks Duane
Yes we’re learning on every trip. Still making mistakes but hopefully getting less 👍👍
Flooded the van last month but no lasting damage 🤞🤞🤞
Hope you’re doing well mate 👍👍
Happy Weekend Dave and Sue wherever you are today! Even though I do not have a motorhome it is fun to see how you do things in Florrie. There are routines to learn and small tricks to discover, but with time you are getting quite good at it! And you do it in a way that is down to earth and credible (not like those movies where it looks like no one ever has lived in the home). I was surprised that condensation could interfere with the electrics of the car. That seems like an unnecessary fault as condensation has been know for a few centuries or something:) I also see clearly that life is both a bit easier and a bit harder as a hiker using a tent as a home and not a motorhome. Have a great Sunday! All the best, Ant
Cheers Ant. Hope you’re well mate.
Yes we’re learning all the time - already had a comment that has helped a lot 👍
The motorhomes that have been built on a Ford Transit chassis do suffer with the condensation problem. Apparently Ford say it’s the motorhome builders problem and the builders say it’s a Ford issue 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
A couple of guys on FB have designed a cover for the ECU that keeps moisture away. But the only other fix is the screen covers so that’s what we do. A bit of a pain as it shuts out a lot of light but I’d rather that than the electrics losing the plot! 😃
Have a lovely Sunday Ant and hope you’re doing well mate 👍👍
Nice to see how the home machine functions guys. 😃
Cheers Kev. Messed it up and flooded the van a couple of weeks back 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️. Should have watched this video 😃
Very useful tips, well done! Wishing both of you a great and beautiful week 👍🙏👏
Thanks Othmar 👍👍👍
Hello Dave and Sue, really enjoyed watching your video of how you set up the motorhome. We have only used our ramps once or twice, Easy mistake with the boiler. Great video, take care x Julie and Tony x
What a plonker I am Julie with the boiler🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
But at least it shows how things can go wrong 😃
Hope you’re having a lovely Sunday 👍👍
Some usefull tips and the list idea is a good one to have , we dont have an Adamo , but the things you do translate across in the most, will have a gander at the other videos you do , itsa learning curve with a new van and so many useful tips out there , enjoy the holidays , thanks
Thanks David.
Yes we’ve learned so much in such a short time. We’re still making mistakes, but they’re reducing over time.
The list has proved invaluable on setting up and leaving a campsite and also when we winterise the van.
We’ve had an amazing nine months now - and travelled to some beautiful places.
Off to Europe next month for another steep learning curve! 😃
Have a great week and thanks for your kind comment 🙏👍
@NBNatureTrailvan enjoy Europe another learning curve ,but lots of advice out there 😀
@@davidweston8758 yep YT has been invaluable 👍👍👍
You are our Adamo mentor, love the vids good to see you making the same errors as myself. Got our Adamo 75 4T after seeing your review this is our 12th van in 50 years Love it
Hi David - thank you for your kind words, especially as we're complete newbies to this - we absolutely love our 75-4T and we try to be out as much as we can.
Learning every day and hoping that this would help other Adamo newbies, plus also that we would learn some tips too.
We made another error on this - turning on the Truma water before purging the system. As the boiler would be trying to heat water before it was full. 🤦♂️
But overall, I think we're doing ok and loving every minute out in the van!!
Enjoy your travels and see you out on the road sometime. 👍👋👋
And thanks again 🙏
Dave & Sue
So nice upload, awesome presentation, thanks for sharing dear. All the best to you.
Have a wonderful day and see you next time again. Many Greetings from Germany ♥ Like 35
Thanks very much 🙏🙏🙏. We’re still learning a lot but it’s been a lot of fun!
Nice informative video. Have a great day 😊
Thanks Arnstein - you too mate 👍👍
Hi Dave and Sue. Another excellent video on setting up your motorhome. One of the issues I have had in the past is the electric cable becoming difficult to get back onto the reel because the three internal wires had become twisted over time within the outer cable. I now always carefully roll out the cable from the reel ensuring that I keep it nice and straight on the ground. I was also quite surprised to see you opening your fresh water tank to check the water level. I tend to rely on the gauge which I know isnt particularly accurate and will only open my tank probably as little as once a year when I clean it with puriclean. However we do use bottled water for drinking and for the kettle just to be safe. Best wishes Dave PS Looking forward to your next trip to Scotland 👍
Hi David.
Very kind of you as always 🙏🙏
You’re right on the electric cable - I made the mistake initially of just letting it fall off the reel (as I did on this vid for speed) and found it was a real pain to get back on every time. So I always now reel it back in properly. Always so much to learn David!
The water gauge on the Adamo is pretty hopeless. We’ve re configured it a few times but it’s still only about 75% accurate. So we have always double checked the fill. I made the mistake of forgetting one day and had a flood. As the speed of water from the hose was greater than the overflow pipe could cope with. Again, won’t do that again! 😃
We add purifying tablets to the tank each fill - and even then we only use bottled water or boiled. We’ve also just cleaned the tanks out.
You just can’t be too careful.
We’re having a holiday with our daughter and grandkids in November in the Lakes. But will hopefully take the opportunity for a week on Arran. Nothing booked as yet but hoping we can visit beautiful Scotland again. Definitely coming up in the spring again whatever happens in November!
Have a good week ahead David 👍👍👍
@@NBNatureTrailvan Hi Dave. Thank you for your reply. Strangely we don't have an overflow pipe on our Malibu fresh water tank so we just use a. blue hose pipe pushed into the filler neck and wait till it overflows. Dave
Just bought a a 75-4i so will be great help 👍
Hi Colin,
That's great - you will love it I think. We're having a real blast in our 75-4T.
Once you get over the common teething problems, it really is a great van.
Any questions at all please ask away mate
And hopefully see you out on the road 👍👍👍
I think the Adamos tend to be more level than other vans. We rarely use ramps either. Very funny re. The water... We only empty boiler if not using for more than three weeks. Silly filling systems isn't it. I turn ours off at 80% to avoid flooding. I find it easier to turn the seats around when I get out I.e. Standing outside. Saves you getting a bad back :)
Cheers Chris - good tip on the front seat 👍
We always drain down completely each time as never sure how long we’re going to leave the van - so far it hasn’t been long!
I flooded the van a couple of months back. We were cleaning the fresh water tank and I was filling for the the third time - lost concentration completely and then saw that the carpets at the front were soaked 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Have a great Sunday Chris.
Hi Sir!!! Hope you are well. I visited your TH-cam channel and your video making is very good. Your content ideas are very good. I have subscribed, like and shared your channel.
Thank you very much. That’s very kind of you 🙏🙏
@@NBNatureTrailvan your Video dosen”t get views and subscriptions. This is because your title, keyword, rank tag, and Thumbnail are not properly SEO, so your video is not getting views and subscribers. If you fix them you will get better results. SEO is the most important of any TH-cam Channel.📶
Probably different here in Canada, but we do experience surges in electric power, so always had a surge protector hooked up to the power at a campsite first. Interesting with the water. Are you able to connect to the water with a hose and run the water directly from the tap, or do you have to fill the motorhome tanks for water? I could do both, but if running water, or even filling, I'd use a filter attached to the hose and also have attached a pressure regulating valve, as both quality of water and pressures can vary tremendously over here. Looking great and all becomes pretty quick and easy over time!
Hi Bruce mate
Hope you and Otis are doing well.
We don’t get surges of power here (or if we do we havent experienced them)🤞🤞🤞
We have to fill the water tank Bruce. We have three ways to do that. Via a hose connection drawn in by a pump, via an Aquaroll 40 litre portable tank which you fill up and roll to the van or finally by a simple hose through the “garage” on the van into the tank.
We don’t use a filter but we do use purifying tablets in the tank. We don’t use the tank for drinking water (in theory we could once purified) we use bottled water or purified water into containers.
The water pressure isn’t a problem - or hasn’t been so far!
I have flooded the van once 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️. But that was me getting relaxed on the third tank fill on a day where we were running a cleanser through the tank 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️. Fortunately just some wet carpets!! But won’t do that again!!
Thanks for watching Bruce and fascinating to compare notes - keep sending these tips - been very useful. 👍👍👍
Great vid, cheers. We have a 4dl, with the two electric drop down double beds. Hope to meet you at the adamo rally in sept?
Thank you. That’s very kind of you. We were really tempted by the DL, great design and those rear windows in the lounge look brilliant
Unfortunately, we’re not doing the rally as we’re doing a European trip for over a month and we don’t get back until the end of September. Disappointed to miss it, the Adamo community is great, and we’re definitely doing next year. Are you on the Adamo Facebook page? That’s a great resource! If so, we will say hi on there too 👋.
Thanks again and hopefully see you along the road
Dave and Sue.
@@NBNatureTrailvan yes we are on the page. We are new to motorhoming and camping and bought ours this year. So still working everything out . We are Lisa and Russell x
@@schofield4836 ha so are we! Learning each and every time we pitch up!
Great to meet you guys 👍👍
@@NBNatureTrailvan we’ve been sitting here for the last three hours watching all your vids, great channel, we just ordered the kitchen roll holder lol !
@@schofield4836 that’s brill. Thank you 🙏🙏🙏. We find that holder really useful and the use of the double sided tape has been a game changer.
Hi Warning for you:
Turning on the hot water before you purge the system, is likely to burn out your element. The heating is fine but not the hot water!
Very expensive to replace.
Thanks Patrick. That’s very helpful.
We are learning every time we go out. So that’s going on our to do list 👍Loving every minute but always something new.
Great life though isn’t it 👍👍
