I’ve been doing warehouse work for about 15 years now. I started as an order picker and did that for almost 10 years. Cut to today and I’m a warehouse clerk (putting orders in the system so the picking crew can pick them). I’m one of the “desk jockeys” or “paper pusher” in the warehouse world. And I’ll tell you this.... I don’t miss order picking one bit!! I’ll take my comfy warehouse clerk job over an order picking job any day of the year!

I was almost 5 years into this warehouse and had a chance to move up to that same position but i got pushed to the side for someone who was a asskisser 😂

@@jds2307 same thing happened to me at another place. I worked there for almost 7 years and when a warehouse clerk position became open the main warehouse manager told me to apply for it. Which I did thinking I would get it. Instead they passed it onto one of their religious buddies. So about a week later I found an exact replica of the job I was applying for at a different company. Applied for it and got it. When I put in my two weeks at the place I was working they were begging me to stay and give them another chance “in case this guy doesn’t work out”. I said no. I gave them a chance when I applied for that position and they passed me over for a religion buddy. I found what I was looking for with another company. Bye. Later on I heard that religion buddy they hired for that spot was a total flake and idiot. I couldn’t stop laughing.

Idk I like the opportunity to make incentives. Unless the clerk job has that opportunity as well. I’ve gotten use to the labor, but then again I prefer the cooler over Dry ALL DAY! lol i dread helping dry dock

Lmao that is the cleanest warehouse I have ever seen. Lucky you got to select with no traffic whatsoever.
Currently order selecting at PepsiCo in San Antonio. An absolute SHIT SHOW there. 25+ selectors in only 6 aisles and when we get there some of the aisles are completely clogged with pallets to where we can’t even drive. Gotta park our jacks far away and just walk.
Awful equipment. Gotta get there an hour early to get a decent working pallet jack.
I’ve worked up to 17 hour shifts 5-6 days a week. No AC.
Excellent pay and no life lol

We had strict clean as you go rules they would get you in trouble if they caught you leaving a pallet or cardboard behind 😂😂
I was on graveyard we only had 3 pickers iwas counted as 2 😂

I work HR at my warehouse and we have a high turnover rate, we hire 25+ selectors a month and usually about 2 or 3 people will actually stay. it's not an easy job at first but it's super rewarding which most new hires don't understand so i go through the headache of going through people who just give up easily and stop showing up to work every month, i can't stress enough to new hires that it will be rough for your first 3 weeks but it gets easier with time which is why we give people a month to get into a groove before they have to start making the standard rate an hour......so as an HR worker at a order selecting warehouse my best advice to new hires is simply just show up to work! we have vets that can never make rates but we keep them because they try their best and show up to work when they are supposed to.
