    Back over a decade ago I did this, recruited 4 other guys with the same mentality. After a year of proper training we eneded up competing in CPL and I won the GameSpot World Championships. Great memories. This topic is very underrated

      @@realg3zookru613 I feel you. Team chemistry is everything. I miss that aspect, our chemistry was so good that our coms in CTF were so minimal because we all knew our job and what to do in most scenarios. It's hard to play with others after having a team that works like that.

    One tip on setting goals for Halo: Don't set goals like I wanna reach Diamond x or Onyx because they aren't specific things you can improve upon.
    Rather try setting goals you can use in gameplay. For example, I wanna start setting up 10 seconds before a power up is available, or, I wanna try actively contest and control mid map.
    I find these gameplay goals more useful.

      highly agree. i was stuck in diamond and got onyx by stopping the blame of my teammates and thinking more of what i can improve on in regards to myself, and my decision making.

    As with any new skill, I always set my goals to be excellence-oriented, not success-oriented. Not everyone appreciates the difference at first glance, but it's vital for me to distinguish that my aspirations reside inwards and stem from personal growth, not any vain desire for recognition or external self-worth. I'm okay losing if I feel I've gotten better. I'm not okay winning if I feel it was purely due to circumstances outside my influence.

    Great video! I'm 31 and have been playing Halo on autopilot for 20 years. Always high ranked. High 30s in h2 50s in h3 and onyx always after. But once I get into semi pro lobbies I get melted. Obviously I'm old and have no intention of going pro but hey maybe ill be that crazy online warrior people hate to match!

    Good reminders. I myself am a super competitve person by nature and hate losing more than anything. I will mostly play the solo/duo controller queue and often get frustrated with my play often times and at other teammates. I need to constantly remind myself that 1. it's only a game and 2. just to breathe, relax and not be so tense all the time. and 3. move on to the next game after a loss and put it behind you.

    I'm a halo veteran, been playing since CE, and have put COUNTLESS hours into every title that's been released (minus halo wars 1&2... Strategy games aren't for me) but I've always been an average player, no matter how much (I thought) I was practising, and I just want to say that this series has been an absolute godsend, made me realise where I'm going wrong, and how to go about improving on my gameplay, so thank you man... really, its so frustrating, I love everything about halo, but spending the majority of a game on the respawn screen is so disheartening, but I'm going to put the time into improving rather than just playing game after game 👌

    I was a halo 2 pro Rumble Pit player. Won Atlanta,Georgia 2 years back to back. Beating ogre2 and many more huge names. I teamed with ogre2 flamesword for years after. My gamer tag this day is Perfex FPS. This matchmaking system they have made now makes us old pros not want to play it. That’s why you see us not play unless our boys are on. It’s broken. K/D ranking system

    Really enjoy your tip videos and replays it’s always insightful. My current goal is to make it to onyx currently in diamond and it’s gotten so much harder recently people are really good. I’ve really had to hit the range and work on my aim as well as watching back games to see my bad habits, but it’s been paying off.

    • @mitchellmckee8054
      @mitchellmckee8054 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm hovering at the very start of diamond 4 right now. I've hit it a few different times then get de-ranked back down to diamond 3 and have to work back up to diamond 4 again. it's definitely starting to get into the very sweaty nature of this game. i feel like everyone i play against are on PCs getting much higher frames than me giving them all those extra advantages. of course that only goes so far but at that level it makes a huge difference in BR fights. my goal is Onyx too but playing alone make it's rather difficult when every time you get paired with will be randoms.

    • @Batmanshypeman
      @Batmanshypeman 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mitchellmckee8054 I feel you mid way through D4 after getting a big csr boost then losing it and having to grind back up. I like solo though I want to prove to myself I can make to Onyx on my own in solo open but randoms are a mixed bag. Once I get to Onyx I’ll look for a team to play with.

I don’t know what types of things I could do to improve past my point. I’m a diamond player but I’m just that. I stop there. Any suggestions?

    You gotta stay calm too. I was livid yesterday when I had a D3 rank and got paired with a D2 and his 2 P1 friends. Directly after I had a D2 teammate go 3-18 in a slayer match and it ranked me down to mid D2 and we only lost by 1.

    Off topic question... what’s the least sweaty playlists/game modes? I’m not the kind of person who is going to put in tins of time to get better and more competitive, I just wanna have fun with the Spartan boys a couple nights a week. For context, I’m a very average FPS player- my k/d numbers are usually positive but not by a big percentage.

    • @WusterWasti
      @WusterWasti 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends, i would not play SWAT, Free for all or Shodown, because it tends to be the most sweaty game modes. If you really just wanna have fun and goofe around, play big team battle with friends or solo and just hop around, drive some vehicles and try different weapons. Fiesta is also funny, if you dont take it too seriously when all the other guys get good weapons and you dont. See it as a playground for practicing power and special weapons.

    Also: curb your anger. Seriously. Adrenaline fueled focus? Nice! Rage? You done fucked up son. This is the very reason you'll find you sometimes play better when you're just ''messing around'' with a friend (even in ranked, at your level) than when you're actually try-harding and getting pissed off at randoms or yourself for making mistakes.

    if u want to learn to get better at competitive play learning how to communicate and what to communicate is really valuable and something I really cant learn from watching pro tournaments. However a lot of pros stream their skrims which is where i learn why more about how to play the game over watching tournament matches. I recommend watching formals stream whenever he is skrimming because his communication is some of the best around right now and just listening to him and what he says to his team helped me get a lot better with my call outs.
