People often say that neighboring countries share common cultures. I believe that's a misconception. While Thailand shares borders with Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Malaysia, its art and culture exhibit both similarities and differences with these nations. Thailand has developed its own distinct identity in clothing, culture, language, and arts, distinguishing itself from Myanmar, Laos, and Malaysia. Clear territorial boundaries often lead to the development of unique characteristics in various aspects.
The point I want to convey is that it's crucial not to misunderstand that Thailand and Cambodia share identical cultures, arts, or attire. Cambodia distinctly separated from Thailand and fell under French colonial rule in 1867, 146 years ago. Meanwhile, Thailand has evolved its arts, culture, clothing, and cuisine in alignment with its own direction, adapting to global trends and circumstances.
Hence, it is implausible for Thailand and Cambodia to have nearly 100% identical cultures, national costumes, or other elements.
Cambodians often claim ownership of Angkor Wat, an 800-year-old temple, as a basis for rights infringement, copying everything from arts and culture to national costumes and cuisine from Thailand, even though these aspects have been developed by Thais after 1867.
And always accusing Thais of constantly stealing Cambodian culture and copying their creations, even though Thai arts and clothing have been created and shared before. Later, Cambodia produces works that are similar or alike. That is imitation and copyright infringement, but they often don't admit it.
Absolutely true!! The historical from Chinese merchant took note that Cambodia area can't weave, they hadn't loom. Cambodian cloth was weaved or dressed which was the short pieces.
It's the fact that Thai has the individuality culture. The culture was development its own identity and unique characteristic by Thai ancestors. This is the real root from Thai ancestors.

Cambodia was a colony of Siam for nearly 500 years. Many Cambodian kings came to study the Siamese language and embrace Siamese culture, traditions, and dress. Lived in the palace in Siam since childhood. When the time came, the King of Siam then performed a ceremony to appoint him as king under the colony of Siam to rule Cambodia Therefore, in the Cambodian court they dressed and spoke in the Siamese style and adopted the arts, culture, and traditions of Siam. And of course Cambodia is not original.
Cambodia is "colonized" by Siam (Ayudthaya at that point), that's why Cambodia inherit some of their culture from Thailand since ancient times. And the Ankor Wat is also built by Indian King. So Cambodian doesn't have their own culture, and most of the native people are from ancient African tribe, proven by the DNA investigation by scientist.
However, Cambodia start stealing Thai culture in these recent 10-20 years to be their own.

They did not migrate from China or Indonesia. The Khmer kingdom has always been home to the Khmer people and their own Khmer kings. Even if they were colonized later, that does not mean that Angkor empire was not Khmer.

Cambodia received its culture from Thailand because Cambodia was a colony of Thailand for more than 400 years. Angkor Wat also belongs to Thailand because it has the word Siam carved into it, the Khmer ruler.
Educate yourself first please. Southeast Asia region where Thai, Cambodia, Loas and part of southern Veitnam were part of the Khmer Empire. When the Khmer Empire collapsed in 1430, the lands got divided and the Khmer culture spreads. Thai, Loas and Cambodia share these culture. Except for the Vietnamese they got their influence from the Chinese. Cambodian used to be call Kampuchea and their people is called Khmer.

Thai,Lao etc they send old folks who still have knowledge of old culture arts to bring back Cambodia to their feet. Thai have those record because westerners documentarian doing their documentary around S.E.A. And things with old people around S.E.A hating each other country is very common. The craziest thing is they post Thai dress on social media saying it's Cambodian dress, wear it on international beauty pageant stages or make new TV series to mislead their own people and other countries. Their actual traditional dress is also very beautiful but they just want to leave it. 😥

Cambodia was under the rule of siam (Thailand) for 432 years. Before France came to rule Cambodia for another 92 years. 🇹🇭🙏👍
400 years? That is completely false. Thailand were fighting with Burma and were under rule for many years. Also Thai king mongkut wanted to dismantle Angkor wat and take it to Bangkok and was unsuccessful not once but twice even resulting in the death of one Thai kings son. Thai kings had always been obsessed with Khmer / ancient Cambodias culture and customs and wanted to be the hub of Southeast Asia to the western world. Thailand also orchestrated genocide on Cambodia and even supported the Khmer Rouge (red guerrilla jungle army) Thai closed their borders to prevent Cambodians from seeking refuge but when USA donated over 350 million dollars for them to open their borders, they finally did and acted like they were the hero’s. So many nasty things had been done to Khmers by these Thais / siem people. Khmers are way older and were prosperous while they were indigenous to Khmer lands but while Khmer empire were weakened by wars with neighboring countries, these Thais seek the opportunity to rebel and overthrow their Khmer overlords. They captured many elites and learned Khmer customs , courts and culture. Thais hate Khmer but loves Khmer culture. The national costume of Cambodia is called "Sampod" and not "Sabai". The reason why the former Cambodians had to wear the Sabai is because Cambodia was under the jurisdiction of Thailand for more than four hundred years. Thailand therefore forced Cambodians to wear sabai in order to bring royal tributes such as money trees, gold trees, and other valuables to present to the Thai king in the palace. And if a Cambodian wants to wear a Thai sabai in various important ceremonies, Cambodia must send a letter requesting permission to wear a sabai from Thailand before they can wear a sabai. But after Cambodia fell under the power of France, the Cambodian king and royal family no longer wore sabai. Later, Cambodia had to face many wars which resulted in the death of many talented people. And Cambodian people who survived the war do not have the potential to develop their country, culture, and clothing. Meanwhile, the Thai sabai dress has always been developed to be beautiful and diverse until the Thai sabai dress has become known and loved by people around the world. Cambodia wants their country to be liked by people around the world just like Thailand. Cambodia therefore chose to take the Thai sabai and pretend to be its own national costume. and accused Thailand of being a thief.

สาเหตุปัญหาเริ่มมาจากระบบการปกครอง ไทยปกครองระบอบประชาธิปไตยมีพระมหากษัตริย์เป็นประมุข แต่กัมพูชาปกครองระบอบคอมมิวนิสต์ ในอดีตไทยเสียดินแดนบางส่วนให้ฝรั่งเศสซึ่งก็คือกัมพูชาปัจจุบัน แต่ไทยไม่ได้ยึดติดอดีตและพัฒนาแผ่นดินที่มีอยู่ให้ก้าวหน้าจนมีชื่อเสียงและเอกลักษณ์ แตกต่างจากกัมพูชาหลังจากถูกแยกดินแดนปกครองตนเอง เปลี่ยนระบอบการปกครองเป็นคอมมิวนิสต์และปกครองโดยผู้นำตระกูลเดียวมาตลอด เวลาหาเสียงเลือกตั้งมักจะมีการปลุกกระแสนิยมให้คลั่งชาติใส่ร้ายประเทศไทย ในยุคที่อินเตอร์เน็ตยังไม่ทั่วถึงคนไทยยังไม่รู้เรื่องนี้คิดแค่เป็นข่าวปลอม แต่เมื่อมีอินเตอร์เน็ตสื่อสารความจริงได้ปรากฏกระบวนการรูปแบบนี้ทำกันมานานแล้วและนับวันยิ่งเคลมประวัติศาสตร์ วัฒนธรรม ศิลปะประเพณีเครื่องแต่งกายแบบไทยแล้วกล่าวหาว่าไทยขโมยมา เพราะประเทศไทยทำศิลปะวัฒนธรรมจนเป็นที่โ่งดังระดับโลกแล้ว แค่ก๊อปมาแล้วอ้างตัวเองเป็นต้นตำหรับง่ายก่วา
